I have driven a FORD for 20 + years and am very satisfied with the quality and cost. Loved the video.

  2. sig380 says:

warranties are backed how about pensions and insurance that auto workers have paid in and now have to worry it will be taken away or cut . most retired auto workers live from check to check. any type of cut could be devastating.

  3. Nomarxism says:

This just shows how ridiculous the whole government bailout thing is. The reality is that the current administration cannot bear to disappoint their union supporters and will continue to pour our tax dollars into that failed business.

  4. dominke says:

The only way for us the citizen to fight the car companies is to buy foreign. Detroit does not deserve our support as they have sold out the USA. The UAW workers in detroit don't buy american. Look at the parking lots of GM, Ford or Chrysler. These workers take the dollar and buy foreign. Let them go belly up, we don't need them. Maybe Obama and his band of crooks can buy them. Lawrence

  5. Islandsox says:

When I saw that little "bubble" car yesterday, the first thing I did was laugh. And immediately following that, I realized why they want us to buy that bubble car. We will all get mowed down by a person on a bicycle, thus reducing the population (at least I won't have to suffer through inflation and more taxes), or we'll have such serious injuries that the doctors at our brand spanking new nationalized health care system will deem us not cost-effective for treatment. It's a win-win for our Fuhrer.

Why is a warranty so important? Our government breaks contracts. A worthless piece of paper that took 10 trees to make. I thought our Pres was eco-friendly?

  6. jburke4 says:

I am not a Constitutional Scholar but it seems there should be some kind of avenue that we can take to get the federal government out of things that are none of their business and that they were never intended to be a part of. It is the Federal Government not a bank, not a car company, insurance company or anything else. How can this be reconciled with the limits of power as outlined in our founding documents? Where are the courts in saying no sir to the President, the Congress and the Federal Reserve in this incredible overreach of power? Actually I already know the answer to that question… in lock step beside them.

    • Mrxray says:

Read the 10th amendment of the US Constitution. Then search the internet for 10th amendment resolutions that are currently being attempted or that have already been accomplished by the various states. It lists the exact responsibilities that the US Government should be managing, some of which they manage very poorly.

We need to get back to the constitutional boundaries that our founding fathers so intelligently described and implemented.

      • jburke4 says:

Exactly what I was pointing out by asking the question. They have no right to do this under our Constitution but there is no one holding their feet to the fire.

I'm thinking that Mr. Obama might be the perfect person to run a business. We all know he's great at advertising.

Still, I know my car is going to be a Ford.

  9. cr8f says:

You don't want help or restrictions don't ask ftaxpayers for a loan

What would banks require if you wanted a bailout?

  10. pinnie says:

First and foremost where do you put the groceries or will there be none to buy.lol where do you put the kids for a dr. appointment oh … no drs either . What about bad weather? What about your spouse what about wind . omg omg omg. This may be the last straw for me. it just keeps getting worse doesn't it. The Don really has his act together . oh What about the handicapped how will they get in and out .omg omg omg omg.my hair is bleeding .

  11. tadroid says:

This is hilarious!! The great thing about humor is that the funnier something is, the closer to the truth it is. GM's going down the drain – as it was headed prior to all this insane spending. We just had to "lend" them a few billion so the golden parachutes of contributors could be woven.

  12. ford is the only way to go

  13. gett1982 says:

Feel sorry for the dealers trying to deal with the government to get reimbursed from "Uncle Sam"…Or should I say "Uncle Barack"

  14. Government backing car warrenties, sure, the same way they manage social security, imagration, our borders, our tax money, ,,it goes on and on. Not me I'll stick with Ford.

  15. BRDDRJIM says:

WE HAVE A STATE GOVERNMENT LEMMON LAW WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO GUARANTEE REPAIR IF THE MANUFACTURER DEFAULTS. WHAT MA JOKE, I DON'T THINK IT HAS EVER HELPED ANYONE EXCEPT THE STATE WORKERS THAT RUN IT.

  16. Tall_Pat says:

Look back @ what Ford did in the 30's when the Government tried to manage them.

  17. Jamilynn says:

Wow… what a great video. When the government gets it's dirty hands into our business it always turns into a mess! This sounds right.

    • Tall_Pat says:

      Jamilynn

The government? I think you mean Federal Reserve System. That private company. Maybe? Where did Timothy Franz Geithner work before becoming Secretary of the Treasury

  18. Marine4EVR says:

Oh how America gets it. Everyone knows that every time the Government gets their mitts on something it turns out to be a disaster full of red tape. We are seeing it right now before our very eyes with the banking system, car companies, and next it will be health care. In Germany, my in-laws told me that they are offering 2,500 Euro for any car over 9 years old in order to make you buy a new car. That policy better never make it over here. I want the Government out of my life! They have done enough damage already.

    • Tall_Pat says:

      Marine4EVR

I think Federal Reserve System Hands in side the Government mitts.
Start @ Dec 22 1913 (?christmas vacation?) Congress
      Pres. Woodrow Wilson 1919 " I am a most unhappy man…"
      * The reverse of the United States "Mercury" dime (minted from 1916 to 1945) bears the design of a fasces and an olive branch

  19. chulai says:

As Mr. Paul Harvey used to say "now, for the rest of the story." The next move for the man in the White House will be to take over GM in a "structured/modified version of chapter 11. This will probably occur after we give them another $22 billion on top of the $17 billion we have already provided. Then in order to save our country, he will announce that in order to assist the workers, the American taxpayers will take over the healthcare programs for all GM workers under a yet to be announced socialized healthcare program. Since Ford will not be able to compete with a government subsidized GM, the gov't will also provide the same program for Ford. Obviously, since the gov't will now be in the car business, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd wll provide the necessary oversight and transparency to insure that all of us peasants don't get srewed again. The sec'y of the Treasury will then fire the people there now and hire all the new people from acadamia who have written many books, and even though they have never run any business in their lives, are better qualified to run a global company.

    • AmericanOnly says:

Well this could be a good example of what will be done with health care. Government will screw this up making warranty's cost prohibitive, then they will start rationing repairs, so you will be waiting six months before your car will get fixed. Hope it's not a brake problem. But rest assured it will get turned on it's head, and the endless taxpayer funded money pit will be forced to pick up the bill!!!! I am so tired of subsidizing the failure or laziness of others. Let them fail, nobody bailed out Ernst Hardware or Montgomery Ward. Let the system work…..

  20. swtVabreez says:

let's see here, the gov't and GM want us to buy theirs Vehicles, but the banks still wont loan money. Then they make it sound like there's a good deal because the gov't will back the warranty.finally, the gov't approved repair facility is probablly ACORN approved also.

ummm NO THANKS.I f I were going to buy a new car,I'd deffinately be buying a Ford, just because of the way they have handled this whole fiasco.

  21. ddgiant says:

There is one thing missing. We have to have the Green tie in with the $120 buss pass while you wait for your appointment, that way you can help cut back on green house gasses, heck it should be a tax break, your car is broken and not on the roads, thus no CO2's coming out..
And if you have a environmentally friendly vehicle, you will also have a rush pass to get your car fix that week.

  22. Ohiowoman says:

Sure makes me want to run right out and buy a GM or Chrysler product. The more I see of this fiasco, the more I admire Ford for not taking any money from the Feds. Smart move on their part.

  23. Goldbeard31 says:

    step 1
GM sells off every asset needed, takes bonus cuts ext… whatever it takes to pay back the government loan.

    step 2
tell the gov that they can now bugger off and quit metteling with their business, go file for chp 11 bankruptcy.

    step 3
this gets all remaining debt restructured, can disband the union, get rid of legacy benefits and such, concessions will have to be made from top to bottom but now GM can make the cars americans want not the ones the govt says they should want and be profitable again.

    the drawbacks:
no more govt contracts for not playing ball, they'l get screwed like ford back during the FDR days, but come out stronger on the other side. but since they can make what the market decides rather than being dictated to the market will win in the end. (that is of course if the govt doesn't make something else up just to hamstring them from competing with their new pet called christler) blue eagle anyone?

now I would buy from a company with testicular fortitude like that and I think many others would too

  24. kckshrugged says:

I think it is convenient that Mr. Goodwrench now resides in the White House. Now we just need to call the White House switchboard at (202) 456-1414 or the Congress at 202 224-3121 to schedule oil changes and tire rotations. Also, we can do banking while we wait. Remember all the good pointers on keeping our tires inflated to lower the price of oil during the campaign, and now this – will wonders never cease.

This socialism thing is really working out for us.

  25. Coffee_hound says:

I'm not sure if it was ever documented in American history that a President orders a Corporation to sell itself to a foreign company. "Obama orders GM to sell to Fiat…." WTF? Is French going to become a mandatory language taught in schools also? (joking of course) We keep getting the picture about the road to Fascism taking form, but I think there's a lesson to be learned here. DO NOT beg for handouts from the Government unless you want to be ruled by them! By the way…..this video is hilarious! :D

  28. Boopster says:

Yep, Just take a look at all other run Government agencies. RED TAPE!

  29. navyboym says:

Zimm you're spot on when they say structered bankruptcy, in that the goal of that structure would be to protect the UAW. Now what I want to know is what are the laws as it pertains to Bankrupcy and if there is such a thing in the law about making a structured one. (i.e. what gives the government the ability to change the terms of those procedings)

  30. ArmyMama says:

Hilarious, really. The next images will be those ROGUE auto repair shops operating out of the BACK ALLEY at half the cost and none of the aggravation or RED TAPE. Then the Civilian National Security Force blows the whistle on the LAWLESS ROGUE SHOPS…..oh not so funny NOW.

  31. Zimm says:

Great video, this is where we are headed. Don't expect anything different out of Detroit when GM announces they are going to file for bankruptcy. The White House has already said that any bankruptcy will be "structured", thus keeping the UAW intact for what remains of GM and Chrysler. Look for more GM plant closings, especially in Republican states like Texas where Obama would have no problem closing their doors. A straightforward bankruptcy would normally break the unions and any contracts would have to be rewritten, problem solved. But, No, Obama will take care of his base and protect the unions. Anyone who has accepted bailout money, now answers to the government. There are no ends to the power grab, control and total takeover this administration is capable of.

This would be funny if it wasn't so right on the money as to how it would be.

    • Rogers_Sense says:

I agree with you this is how it would be. Also say hello to Govt run Healthcare do you really what this ??? reminds ya of communism? huh
