johnthewhale: I'm surprised that you are not livid at the programs he has put in place. Have you truly kept up on what he is trying to take away from us American citizens? Doesn't it bother you that the Stimulus Bill's money isn't targeted and timely and the benefits won't be felt for years? And the debt, with China funding us and the interest per year being 800 billion dollars, aren't you worried that China will have tremendous influence? And Israel's PM Netanyahu telling Obama: either you take out Iran's nuclear program or we will? Obama and Congress are literally stealing from all of us. The job losses will continue because he has done nothing to promote job increases. Doesn't it bother you that he and Congress approved the AIG bonuses and then wanted to tax them illegally at 90% to get that $$ back?

  4. Islandsox says:

kckshrugged: Chains you can believe in that is!

  5. JohninNJ says:

All of this back tax boogie could be eliminated if: 1. As soon as a person places his/her/its name on a ballot, they are required by law to be audited by the IRS. 2. As soon as a discrepency is proved/admitted to, they no longer qualify to hold any office in any government, (local, state or federal)

    • Nisa79 says:

I agree with one completely, but #2 sure does wipe out the concept of forgiveness. What if the discrepancy was twenty years old and the person was truly repentant or perhaps the error was an honest mistake? Tax codes are complicated. That would keep good people from serving. I think a better solution would just to slash the currently bloated salaries of elected officials and have term limits. Make the positions less appealing and then those who really want to serve for good reasons will be found filling them (for the most part). I would also like to see more of these appointed positions become elected positions. I can see this helping in two ways. 1. They won't all be like-minded and 2. We can hopefully avoid those who are morally objectionable. Unless of course the majority doesn't care about morals anymore, but I think the 9-12 project is proving that's not true.

Why haven't their bank accounts been seized??? The IRS does that to the public if there is any question on you owing something from the past. They should be held accountable just like everyone else & suffer the consequences.

  9. Gregory says:

IF it had happened just one time, I would think this guy is not bright. But it has happened several times, and that leads me to believe it is intentional. Obama feels he can get away with anything. Britain is one of our staunchest supporters, and he is trying to drive a wedge between us. He coddles up to our enemies, and drives our friends off.

  10. MR2 says:

This is one for the record books. For the first time ever there are more tax cheats in the cabinet than in the congress!

  11. The vote on the budget is coming to the Senate floor. There is a provision in there that is going to allow them to do a health assestment on people to see if their lives are worth the cost of the treatment. This is socialized medicine and it is 51 votes from becoming law in the country !! Senator Conrad is the majority leader on this committee. Please people start calling .

  12. Gregory says:

We could save ourselves a lot of grief, by asking for a list of every person delinquent in their taxes from the IRS Then send that list to congress for confirmation. :)

  13. Why would they need a department? You have 50 states. They direct deposit into the treasury once a month. I'm sure they can find one person to create a report of 50 deposits for the Treasury Secretary each month. Heck, spreadsheets are quite simple, easier than Turbo Tax; maybe the (c)rap star "Timmy G" can do it himself…

  14. jwjcc1 says:

Of course the rules only apply to we the little people, those of power are exempted. So many of our elected officials seek to redistruibute what we have righteously earned. I pay my taxes as do most Americans because that is the law not because I agree with it. Listen up BHO… the people who have had "skin in the game" for years are not buying your crap.

  15. Imjohngalt says:

Ladies and Gents, lend me your eyes.
I have contemplated a scenario that I believe is actually taking place right now. If you were one of the upper middle class business owner, your government might be discriminating against you. Allow me to explain. If you run a legitimate business and have experienced success, and your competition has not been so successful; but his business is deemed GREEN and your's is not, then the government might be looking to subsidize his income. Sure, something you're already aware of, but by virtue of subsiding your competition's income, our government is actually paying their income tax. Ponder this thought for a moment then answer me as to where's the equal protection under the law or is this actually "taxation without representation"?

  16. Cheyenne924, I feel for you and you are in my prayers, if we band together sign a petition use the Media the airwaves small town newspapers to get the word out it could help! If we can get Beck to help great! let the left-wing smear us they will publicize us through their political machine and Obama can't take criticism he will snap back and our message will be heard. I'm not Republican nor Democratic I lean conservative and Independent and who ever can do the job. Obama cannot do the job. I know Mr. Beck is listening on here and I hope he is listening he keeps telling us take back our country… I'm with him in a peaceful way, if we speak he will help along with Hannity and others. These tea parties are going to turn violent they will start out peaceful but remember you will have Neo-Skin heads, KKK members blending in people that are drunk starting fights motorcycle gangs showing up and before you know it a violent revolution breaks out through an economic depression. Imagine bread lines they will be called deadlines! At this point in time when people are forced out of there homes and people are living in tents who is going to be thinking about voting in a leader NO ONE!!! Things are going to get worse.

  17. fightthetap says:

The FairTax (http://www.fairtax.org) provides a prebate for spending up to the poverty level. So, low income families pay even less taxes (no payroll taxes), the middle class basically breaks even, and wealthy people will still pick up the bulk of the burden, but no one's money will be confiscated.

I hope everyone is reaching out to their friends, family, neighbors, waiters, dry cleaner, accountant, etc.. and promoting this sight. I have and will continue to enlist people!

This movement is important and if we are not growing in numbers we will lose momentum. Momentum is a funny thing, while it is hard to obtain it is very easily lost.

  19. Brass says:

I discovered recently that I'm not qualified to server in public office. See, I got my tax return and found out that I had OVERPAID my taxes and received a return. Not only that, the original amount that I was supposed to receive back wasn't enough. The IRS had to correct my tax return to adjust for my mistake and pay me MORE money. I guess I'm not qualified to work in DC because clearly I am terrible at cheating on my taxes. Oops!

Is anyone here qualified to help me learn how to underpay my taxes? I'd really like to be appointed to a nice, cushy gov't job where I can be a complete and total waste of taxpayer dollars. I'd like to make poor decisions and choices while effectively blaming it on the "previous administration" then retire with incredible benefits that the average American will NEVER have and make millions by writing books and touring the lecture circuit.

Will restate the truth for undeserved fortune.

  23. leversjr says:

Quick question, are you suggesting 15% on income or gross receipts? It would make a difference.

  24. leversjr says:

Actually, what nomoreliberals is saying when they stated that businesses were not paying taxes on their materials is that COGS is subracted from gross revenues to arrive at net income, which is what is being taxed on. They are not saying that businesses do not pay taxes, because they do…when they make money. Lately, there has been a large number of businesses recording losses, therefore not incurring any income tax liability. In these situations, if the businesses were forced by the government to lower prices as a result of enacting the fair tax, that would actually hurt them. This wouldn't apply to those companies making a profit, as long as the marginal tax rate is above 23%.

  25. JLR9914 says:

This would be the amusement of a lifetime. The British Queen telling the world what a jerk he is would wake up some Americans. So to the Brits, God Bless You, one of our greatest allies and hopefully this will stay so for a long time to come.

    • Islandsox says:

JLR9914: Oh, but there is an Oh, the crazy liberal left will then start trashing the Queen in ads all over television. After all, we are supposed to worship our President and how dare anyone speak ill of the Holy One!

Hey gregory, I'm from Texas but live on Roatan and I am returning to Texas April 16th. I'm sure upset that I'll be missing all of the tea parties, but will stay glued to my television to watch them.

  27. JLR9914 says:

Is this the Sebelius that was part of the National Socialist party? Why the hell aren't the Democrats complaining about these tax cheats. Now the two partys look about the same to an unbiased point of view, the independents that swung the vote.
Complacency in America has led us to trust the Politicians. It is sickening!

  28. gunslinger6 says:

I agree. But you forget sir, you think as a Texan (as I am). We were brought up knowing proper bearing, respect and manners. The Queen smiled and was gracious, but in her mind she probably was saying "who let this trash become a world leader? I bet the colonies miss me now!

  29. Texan2 says:

Open Letter to all British Subjects: I sincerely apologize for the poor judgment exhibited by our President in gifts given to your Prime Minister and Queen. I include in this apology Obama's thoughtless rejection of Prime Minister Churchill's bust from the Oval Office. Please know I and millions of other Americans deeply value you, our only Special Friend in the World. If it were up to me, your Sovereign would of received some personal effect of President Roosevelt in recognition of his partnership with Prime Minister Churchill during WWII, not an Ipod and your PM a letter written by one of the Founding Fathers, not a collection of DVDs.

  33. Would you really trust our federal money left unchecked with the state governments? I would expect we would have federal oversight to ensure our federal money is going where it is supposed too. Someone will need to ensure the correct sales are being reported, the correct tax collected and the correct tax remitted. I would not leave this up to the various states to monitor. Not that the federal government has a strong track record now. Yes spreadsheets are quite simple, but can be screwed up quite easily as well.

  34. AFALLS says:

detestObama agree with your name. Always remember those who want to take your money are the same ones that refuse to pay for anything. They suggest fund raisers to pay for everything in schools or public funds but they never give. It's always the same people who pay the taxes and pay for the fund raisers. Just look at your own community. The same people are at every fund raiser.

  35. You guys are all crazy. I am so happy that this is what is left of the republicans.

Who said we were Republicans? Most of us are quasi-radical, narco-communial free thinkers who have a great desire to reshape the foundations of our current governmental system while wearing our shorts on our heads, placing two pencils up our nose while saying "wobble-wobble". Come to think of it, we are just like you!

    • stoyboy1 says:

The article proclaims Sebelius admitted "errors". Or were they mistakes? Read these definitions of the words error and mistake from dictionary.com, especially the definition of mistake. I ask you then to tell anyone how either of these definitions of Sebelius' actions do not disqualify her as a servant of the American people.

    er⋅ror

    1. a deviation from accuracy or correctness; a mistake, as in action or speech: His speech contained several factual errors.
    2. belief in something untrue; the holding of mistaken opinions.
    3. the condition of believing what is not true: in error about the date.
    4. a moral offense; wrongdoing; sin.

    mis⋅take

    1. an error in action, calculation, opinion, or judgment caused by poor reasoning, carelessness, insufficient knowledge, etc.
    2. a misunderstanding or misconception.
    –verb (used with object)
    3. to regard or identify wrongly as something or someone else: I mistook him for the mayor.
    4. to understand, interpret, or evaluate wrongly; misunderstand; misinterpret.

Our current executive and legislative branches of government remind me of "credit fixing" schemes. You know, companies that advertise: We can fix your credit in 90 days!!!

With our current government, it's more of a "character fixing" scheme: Do you want to serve in government and you have no character? WE can fix your character in 100 days!!!!

    Character….it does matter.

  37. I've sent tea bags, e-mails,letters And made several phone calls the only response I received was one form letter from snowe my plan at polls is to vote incumbents out or none of the above fair tax sounds great to me Would love to attend tea party any going on in maine I'll even go NH. or Mass I'M STILL GOING TO KEEP FIGHTING THE FIGHT

A democrat walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder. The bar tender looks up in shock to stare at the uglist, foulist and down right nasty bird he has ever seen. After a few moments, the bar tender says "Where on earth did you get that nasty thing?' The parrot replies "Capitol Hill – They're all over the F-ing place!"

  40. If all these nominees with tax issues are indicitive of the general population there must be millions of dollars in uncollected taxes out there. As to all the "unintentional" errors, this may be symptomatic of an overly complex tax code. A flat tax or stepped tax, stripped of loop holes, would make it easier to file and audit. Yes, it would probably negatively impact tax accountants, tax prepares and IRS employees/

  41. TDCobra says:

May be we should be taxed at 99% then everybody will be happy. Seeing how that is where we are headed with this monstrosity of a tax code we have now. Just think at least everyone will be a poor government slave.

  44. stoyboy1 says:

I wish we could go back to the polls now as well. What we can do as individual conservatives is to go after the type of voters that put this president in office. The young people voted this past election in droves for Obama. We need to mentor these young people to conservative values. I challenge all of you Great Americans to convert one young person to vote Republican in 2010 and we will take back Congress and get this Country on track. Hoooaaahhh!!!

    • Mcubed says:

      stoyboy1,

I'm currently going to a University and trust me when I say/write, the hippocracy, the irresponsible spending, Poor leadership choices, abusive power is not being taken lightly. These young men and women are furious and disgusted. The problem I am seeing is they have no Idea how to focus that Anger and Frustration. There have been numerous times I've heard cracks about this is "not the change they believed in". They are just not prepared to deal with something like this.

I am of the opinion, they were more rejecting anything associated with Bush and the Republican Party then pledging undying love and devotion to President B.O.

They are smarter than most people will get give them credit for. They see the elephant in the room they are just desperately searching for true leadership in dealing with it. They are searching for a viable alternative, one that is at least half as charismatic but twice as genuine about initiating positive change.

      • Islandsox says:

Mcubed: Well, then after four years of this current excuse for a President, they will most probably look to all the candidates. But don't forget, most all young people had a "love affair" with this tall black man who spoke so eloquently even if they didn't know he can't speak well at all without that teleprompter. 2010 elections are right around the corner; I'm voting republican this time unless there's a wonderful candidate in a 3rd party.

  45. Ashrak says:

We have the "Back Tax Boogie" but I am left to wonder if we will have the 'Increased Taxes Twist' in the next few days.

Obama said he wouldn't raise taxes on people making less than 250 grand, and many people who make a great deal less than that found out today, if they bought a pack of smokes, that Obama has already done what he said he would not do….. He and his Democrat controlled Congress RAISED TAXES!

  46. EricEttinger says:

As far as unemplyment. You are incorrect. If people have more of their own money to spend this in turn will create more need for goods and services period
And last but not least. Our government not being able to stay within a budjet.

That is the reason we are all comming together on this site.

When the government spends money they are very inefficient. Just look to your city, state, or local government roads department. I will gaurantee you that me as a small business owner can do the job alot more efficiently and therfore I can give more people a job or have more money to spend which in turn will give more people a job. All you have to do is look at the unions. Two workers to do the job of one.

Its a viciouse job creating cycle that it seems our current elected officials don't seem to understand.

    signed
Pissed of I am still bailing dumb asses out.

    • No, I'm not incorrect with the unemployment. Think about this, the businesses will be paying tax on the materials they use to create products, which currently they are not having to pay. Instead of paying the income tax, they would now be paying a sales tax on their materials. This could actually increase their overall tax liability. This is why they will not be decreasing their prices to the consumers. When the consumers have to pay an additional 23% national sales tax on the products, this would result in a massive inflationary hit to the economy. Consumption would dramatically decrease, and the unemployment level would INCREASE.

      • EricEttinger says:

IMO you are incorrect. If I am producing a product, I would not pay the tax on the raw material. I would charge the tax on the product sold to the end user. I would think it would work the same way a state sales tax works. Only the end user pays the tax. The system we have now is broken. Why not try a system such as the fair tax where there are no loopholes? Just the money I would save in fees to prepare my taxes would be a hugh help. I pay to have my payroll prepared, quarterly reports, income tax prepartion, etc. This alone would save me $7-8,000 per year. This money could be put back in to the business to help it grow and in turn put more people to work.

      • AFALLS says:

You really need to study the tax codes. Do you really think corporations are not paying taxes? American corporations are taxed higher than any foreign corporation in the world. Corporations pay taxes on goods they purchase. They are being double dipped on employee taxes. Do you really think that by the elimination of taxes up front will hurt the companies? Corporations have to build the taxes in to their current prices on goods. They will be able to actually lower prices or just make better profits which help employment or capital for their companies.

  47. beenfield says:

<DIV>If you think we can just try to deal with the left you are dead wrong. They have cut us out. I have never said anything about violence and would not, you however infer that. They want cap and trade, little comrades trained in our schools , smart grids, they have replaced ceo's and taken away bonuses from private citizens, they are socializing our country and you want to talk to them? How much to they have to own before you say wow, what in the hell happened? I worry about our military who's funding is being cut while our government grows in leaps and bounds. He even talked about our vets getting second party health care. Sorry I don't think we can deal. We need to speak loud and often!

  48. Bing says:

The rate of our government spending, we'll be walking. No matter how they collect the (all your) money. What is the interest on 12.5 Trillion dollars?

  49. Cliff_brown says:

Of course none of Obama's people are clean. It is hard to find a left winger who is. Even though Sebelius did not properly file tax she may be the cleanest amoung them all. Most of the tax cheats obviously did it intentionally, but based on what little I know of the case I believe this was an honest mistake.

If we pass fair tax http://fairtax.org it will no longer be possable to mess up on federal income tax be it intentional or not.

  51. US GDP is $14T. Do the math.

Plus, this will eliminate govt. jobs (IRS, for example) so those people will need to get real jobs, wealth-building jobs, maybe create some new small businesses, thus growing the GDP…

    • The IRS still will not be eliminated…who will oversee the receipt and remittance of the tax to the federal government? If you are going to say the Treasury department, well they will have to create a new department to do this, so basically they will just change the department name from the IRS to the National Sales Tax Office…same thing.

    • leversjr says:

Actually, 23% of 14T is less than 3.5T, and that is if everything is taxed….doesn't cover it….and I'm not sure if this 3.5T includes Social Security benefit costs. Nomoreliberals, do you know if the 3.5T include SS benefits?

      • From what I have read on this, approximately 1.4 Trillion would go toward Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. But the budget does not include any TARP funds or anything associated with financial stabilization efforts.
