To think that there exists technology to have stopped this launch before it even happen, and we just let North Korea launch a missile over one of our allies. Japan should be very disappointed in the United States.
At the G20 I cant understand why Pres. Obama said we are arrogant and also said that we would be using "common sense laws" hmmmm common sense? what is that all about? I didnt think any of our laws were under "common sense"? I thought they were what our founding fathers drew up on documents like the Constitution and the Declaration of Indepence. Anybody know whats going on here?
What's going on here is this administration is selling this great nation out to the rest of the world. For years, liberals have been trying to get back in bed with Russia (Uncle Joe), China and other communist countries. Remember Alger Hiss? Whittacker Chambers? McCarthy and the Venona Papers which proved him correct? Pres. Reagan saved this country from liberal treason with Russia and shut them up for a long time. Now here we go again. Wasn't the 'arrogant' comment made to the french? Aren't these the same people who only helped us in the Revolutionary War because we were fighting England too? Didn't they line the streets with flowers welcoming the Nazis? They have never actually been our ally. Obama is preaching to the choir and sucking up to the rest of the world so he can play in their kitty litter box. And just like a litter box, they're all full of s***.
the world! what about our new lunatic in the white house with nuclear weapons!! oh thats right he wants to get rid of them thats smart . maybe he can sell them on ebay or craigslist to the highest bidder ! im sure well get them back!! really god help us!!! please!
10:17pm, still waiting…….. Don't think it will happen.
Send Kim Jong mentally ILL some Porn. I heard he likes that ….who knows it may calm him down a bit. Simple enough to try at least. THE WORLD'S GONE MAD! LUNATICS ALL OVER THE WORLD WITH NUCLEAR BOMBS. GOD HELP US!
It seems like they want healthy working tax payers and anyone who is sick who they don't feel is worth the care and money it will take to save them-they will just deny treatment, it will be a sad time for this country if this bill passes, where is the humanity in the people making these laws………but they allow Nancy Pelosi to get millions to save the Marsh Mouse in California….this was in the Stimulus Package that no one read, along with many other pork projects that cost billions of dollars. God Bless our sick and our wounded, I pray this bill doesn't pass.
I pray Evan Bayh and Ben Nelson will keep standing up, God Bless them. We need a voice like Daniel Hannan when he was speaking to Gordon Brown………….who knows when the conscience of Old Glory will make Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate speak up……………..or will they wait until right around the time of the 2010 elections and make many promises…most likely, but the people of this country won't be fooled again, they love this country and their hearts are breaking along with their wallets
I agree, our military won every battle in Vietnam, it was the Democratic Congress that pulled the plug. Our military past and present are all heroes, God Bless you all and thank you for your service to our country.
Thank you for your kind comments.
Semper Fi!
I say that if we are not attack then we should not care. However does get attack can fight there own battles.
Just think Hillary Clinton is in charge…where is the Secretary of State? Hiding in a bomb shelter! She just couldn't wait to Fly over to the G20 and meet up with her pal BHO and hob nob at the G20…instead of working on very important issues such as bombs pointing towards us…she didn't want to be left out of the fun. My god when do BHO and Hillary actually work? The country is falling apart and BHO is still out there campaigning with his 50" teleprompters he never leaves home without! Spanky and our gang would have done a far better job than BHO and his gang.
I believe you. Don't give up because the wrong side will win. It will take every voice for us to be heard. We must help each other maintain focus.
I've seen many good comments here. But I would add one more before this thread is dumped into the archives. I don't know the exact Latin phrase used in Rome, but it went something like "do not fear death, because you are already dead." I think this phrase can be well used today. Our Constitution is for the people, by the people and of the people. If the Constitution is dead, than so is the foundation of this government. In essence, we are already dead.
If you are having problems getting on this site as I am there is another good site picking up the over flow. They support and credit Glenn with the 9/12 Project and have another good site for keeping in touch.

Atticus, I just wanted to add something to everyone's comments on this statement of yours.
I wanted to add an apology for the tone that many of us have taken in trying to express our own points on what you said. I stick to all the things I say in life, but I know they sometimes come out with unintended tones, even in writing. I know I meant no offense, and wasn't trying to be as condescending as my words sounded – and I want you to know that too.
I hope you take my apology, but leave the message I was trying to say, because I still stand firm in my desire for you, your generation, and all of us (including myself) in this nation to never stop on the podium of one opinion. I want us all to continue our walk through the forest of life, learning always, and never standing still out of apathy, avarice, or antagonism.
As I said, yesterday, I wouldn't say anything if I thought my efforts were pointless.
Want to know who screwed you last night on the 3.6 Trillion dollar budget? Every Democrat in the Congress except 2. The vote for 2010 is pretty clear isn't it!
The Senate approved its budget 55-43 late Thursday. Only two Democrats – Sens. Evan Bayh of Indiana and Ben Nelson of Nebraska – voted against the plan, along with all 41 Republicans. Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., did not vote
beutifully said
Is it really pointless to back the allies we have defended politically for fourty years . It would turn into a problem if other countries saw that we were all talk and no show.
What will happen if we all quit smoking? Where will they get the revenue if not from cigarettes? Instead of getting something they are going to get nothing!!
and so should all Americans, a little prayer would not hurt either
Careful, what is said on here about Nam, our boys that went there are heros, they did the job that was required and ASK of them, they followed orders, , and if you doubt the heros, ask some one that was there, not some of the idoits that stayed back, or run to Canada TO AVOID A FIGHT, (KINDA LIKE BILL). Probably a hero to you,atticus89dude.
they can't reduce taxes goodness sakes its the smokers of the country that are going to pay for the CHIP program. You know the childrens (and childless couple ) health care. Cigs have gone up $10.00 a carton and now the next tax is going into effect in May I believe. Thats another 64 cents a pack. Yesterday they also took over the tabacco business. Is there nothing they arent going to get their hands into ?
My only concern is that if we do choose to shoot it down… That we actually HIT it and bring it down… It will be embarrassing if we attempt to shoot it down and miss, and it will hand NKorea a huge propaganda victory.
It is refered to as Comparative Effectiveness Research..catchy huh. Senator Kyl had an amendment yesterday Samdt793 but it was defeated. This was put into play in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 Sec.804 lines 1 and 2. Check out S4126. Transparency my butt. It is nearly impossible to know where to find anything. They want to keep us in the dark and they are doing a darn good job of it.
You thought further ahead than I, and I'm glad you did it more swiftly too. I love books, and as the husband of a retired librarian, I live in a veritable bunker of tomes, so I always turn to them before anything else. But you're thinking a little smarter and faster – I like that. You're absolutely right in sending atticus to the very men who the books have written of.
Brilliant, my friend.
I agree with each of your points. Coming home from Korea was nothing like the fanfare of coming home in '45, but I'm sure it was still more satisfying than the shameful disgraces waiting for you on the tarmac upon your return. I can only hope you returned their spite and ignorant ranting, when coming home, by holding your head high and silently knowing to your core that they will forever owe you their very existences.
As for North Korea… I also agree. We have been handling a porcupine with bare hands for far too long. I don't see that changing until it's too late, and we are skewered with many quills. Threats just aggravate the critter, and when angered or forced into a corner, the only protection from those razor sharp barbs, is to smash the rodent. I know i sound like a mean old man, but sometimes words have to stop, and we need to communicate through actions.
Sadly, I don't think you're going to find anyplace where the trolls don't do their level-headed best to disrupt things. This is part of the struggle. Don't give up. Rather than sucumbing to the blathering rabble, stand up and fight for what's right. Keep typing. Keep talking. Keep shouting louder and working harder than the jerks. We aren't going to find a better place to gather than this website. The trolls are here because they know where the action is. The action is here because we (the new Sons and Daughters of Liberty) are here. If you give up…and others follow, this thing will play out like it always has. The bad guys simply outlast us. We can't let that happen again. Not this time.
Thank you for the reply! You're right quiting isn't an option. I just get frustrated. For the last few years I have had to argue with misinformed people. Trying to justify a war that I agree with, and explain to people that we were right in going in there.
I was also getting tired of watching people that had succumbed to changing their arguments on the war. Watching them have to say that "well we liberated a country from a dictator".
Yes we did, and we removed a huge stockpile a very dangerous material from the hands of those that would use it to make their point. The same people that would have their wife and kids blow themselves up.
God bless the people who paid the price to help keep us safe and provide a safer world!
see thats the problem, everyone keeps saying "if we strike, the world will hate america, and we will be the bad guys." Since when have we not been the bad guys? will the people of Iran, pakistan, russia, china and n korea ect… ever stop hating us? NO! there is now way to appease to these govts, unless we are destroyed.
So lets say the thing is capable and does hit us, and kills thousands if not more. while we are debating wether the rest of the world will hate America, thousands of Americans will die! The world will hate us anyway, no matter what we do!
or lets say the missle strikes another nation, like Israel, or japan, or the uk,. What will happen then? they will blame us for not taking action to stop the launch!
we are a great nation, with a great military who can destroy any threating army! The eyes of the world will never love us, Only the people who live free in America
Dr. Orly Taitz represents members of our military and house of representatives asking for Obama's birth certificate……check out defendourfreedoms.org
I would like applaude all my fellow vets for their eloquent comments and at times lecturing to the fearful and uneducated. You, and I, have protected the rights and freedoms of all Americans, you have all shown and proven great communcations skills and what patriotism truely means. That we, having only the one regret…only one life to give to this great country is very nobel indeed. But your willingness to not be judgemental or tear down those who do not share the degree of our values or sacrifices makes me more proud than I have ever been to be a vet, That we have put our lives on the line, even to protect those who not only disagree with our missions but protest them and some even hate us, yet we respect them because the freedom of speech is and always will require protection and unfortunatly sacrifice. Thank you all for your service and God Bless America
we are missing something here to much focus on this rocket we have anti missile bunkers in S.K and a few other places right i would think so so why are we making a fuss we won't really know thier attentions until it is launched
and what it is launched at and if it has to go as far as they say it will then it could definitly be shot down before it got here so i just woundering why they are trying to get the american people preoccupied for or it could be the other way around N. korea could be grabing our attention while someone else hits us from behind dang movies to many plots
I will be surprised people if this missile doesn't head toward us Alaska and it hits the Ice Caps but doesn't harm anyone Obama will hold a press conference and say no Americans were hurt so I will not respond, I will only respond through communication. People if this happens Mexico is headed over the border! Hezbollah and Hamas will attack Israel they get from all fronts. Israel point a nuke at Korea launch your missile toward us your done I m sending Hydrogen bombs and nukes. People arm yourself America because Obama won't
Good idea!!
Why does North Korea do this? Because they can. Looks like Biden was right about his running mate.
Why does North Korea do this? Because they can.
Found Great website for TEA PARTY STUFF and it's really quite cheap. Go to http://www.discountbookdistributors.com/index.asp...
Here is a perfectly good reason we have Special Forces! Sneak some in they make a few well placed visits and it looks like the thing was defective and blows up on the launch pad. Making sure it kills most of they're beloved scientists and generals there watching….A win win situation!
BTW I served myself 1BGD 101ST AB 2BN 327 INF NO SLACK.

On the other hand the people actually trying to start and maintain civil conversations have to sift through pages and pages of garbage.
Glenn,
I love your show and your passion about bringing controversy to the front. I have been listening to your radio show for years now. But I may have to sign off of the 912 project.
Typical of a liberal. Rewrite history to fit your agenda!
I'm glad you weren't in my unit. I would have put my size 14 boot where the sun don't shine!
IM ONLY GOING TO SAY THIS ONCE……………………………….(CAPS FOR NOISE)
F********N QUIT SAYING THE FALSE CONCEPT THAT THERE WERE NO WMD'S. MY BROTHER WAS IN GW1 AND HAS SERVED IN GW2 (NOT ONCE BUT EVERY YEAR SINCE THE START WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE). HE PERSONALLY TOLD ABOUT WEAPONS CACHES THAT WERE DICOVERED AND REMOVED WITHOUT TELLING THE WORLD. IF THEY TOLD THE WORLD THEN THE INSURGENTS WOULD KNOW AND FIGHT FOR THEM. AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH……………………………………..
http://www.nysun.com/editorials/iraqs-yellowcake/...
Yes it's hard to believe that Bush didn't proclaim this to the world to try and clear his name. Imagine a man that would allow his name to be smeared for the greater good. Bush made mistakes, just quit saying there were no WMD's.
I came to this site looking for solutions and have found thousands of people that are so damn mad at the other side that they clog the comment boards with hate. Responding to worthless baiting.
Are you Marty McFly who couldn't be called a chicken without wrecking the car.
He did, but the MSM didn't print it. google Yellow Cake Uranium. they found it real early. 3000 tonso f it and slowly removed it to canada. they also found 5,000 artillery shells with mustard gas that I know of.
Thanks for the reply!
After cooling down some, I realized that quiting wasn't an option. It just gets frustrating when the facts aren't played out. Imagine being the leader of a nation that has just been attacked. And you know for sure that there are stockpiles of this stuff waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. Wouldn't you attack?
God Bless you and your brother, most of the country does believe Sadam had WMD's and that there was plenty of time for him to move them into Iran before the war started. There is even more proof now with some troops getting sick from the yellow cake dust. There will always be some who no matter what will deny it, even with evidence proving the opposite, take for instance the death camps in Nazi Germany where millions died, there are people who still deny it ever happened, ignorance is bliss, move on from those types of people. God Bless America and our Troops.
Aspade & Old Marine, you're correct. North Korea is threatening to launch a so-called "communications satelite". The frightening truth is a rocket that can carry a satelite into orbit also can drop a nuclear warhead over any location in less than 45 min. In this case, retaliatory power means nothing. One small nuclear weapon, delivered by an ICBM can destroy the U.S. by maximizing the effect of the electromagnetic pulse [EMP] upon detonation; An EMP is a byproduct of detonating an atomic bomb ; the gamma rays emitted trigger a massive electrical disturbance moving at the speed of light which would short out ALL electrical power grids. It might take years to recover and the U.S. would be a 3rd world country. SOURCE: Report of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the U.S. from Electromagnetic Pulse Attack from April 2008.
My opinion is we should not allow N. K. to launch anything; the U.S. can't "retaliate" once this scenario happens.
I know I'm just frustrated but it took me along time to wise up, I do believe if Al Gore would have gotten in 9/11 would have happened but the people would have blamed the Gore administration because of Joel Lieberman being Jewish. Bush gave the Democrats their war, look at the outcome and the crisis. The Democrats benefited the most with all the arrows linking Bush to 9/11 the false intelligence that iraq had weapons of mass destruction (Didn't Colin Powell support Obama) The agenda they are passing is and it will be hard to reverse based on fear, so another 9/11 doesn't happen. The more open we are we will get attacked. The nation wanted the liberal approach but we are getting a fascist approach. comradeobama can have his opinion, but he needs to understand don't trust politicians that want change because Hitler wanted it and the Germans got it and look at the out come. Obama would sell us out for the sake of his family give away this nation and he lives peaceful in Kenya better yet he will have our money to buy the country of Kenya. Taxes and Chinese government are we ready America for CHANGE!!!!
We must never take any thread ligthly in this world we live in today, with that being said we must prepare ourselfs for a defensive attack because i do not believe that rocket is carrying nothing more than a nuclear war head. If i heared correctly it pontentaily could reach america, this is a real cause for concern.
Kim Jong-il just wants to cause a stir and provoke us into shooting it down. Missiles are one of the few successful exports for North Korea. A failure would deal a blow to missile sales and embarrass North Korea. So with us shooting it down, it will still be a success to N. Korea because we did'nt give it a chance to fail. So I say lets give it to them and shoot it down over their own territory. Also Washington1789 well said….
How's this for the MSM? "…they said there is no reason to doubt that it is a satellite, as indicated by North Korea." Oh really? We just trust North Korea completely now? NK thinks their "president" is a god. He gets 100% of the vote in every "election." They claim to not be experiencing a recession. They claimed that the whole world was experiencing a famine, when in reality it was only them. When have they actually told the truth about something?
On a somewhat related note (MSM), I saw this article when reading the NK article: h<a href=”http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/04/02/michelle.oba…” target=”_blank”>http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/04/02/michelle.oba…
Really? Warm touch of Michelle? The queen isn't touchy-feely, thus she must love Michelle? When does it end? There goes that tingle up Chris Matthew's leg again.

This is a wait and see- and hope for the best administration, that seems to be more concerned about rhetorical speeches and great big smiles, this is a dangerous world and this president has to show backbone along with dipomacy because as we can see our foes are not backing down…………they are not impressed with speeches, and now will launch a missile- perhaps our way.
Why don't they reduce the taxes on cigarettes, so that those of us the smoke can die early, and save Social Security some money. After being taxed over and over again to pay for the "burden" I will put on the health care system, I am sure that this bill would not find money to treat me. But if I were on a illegal narcotic they would find the money to treat me.
Pure and simple Folks,
Let the GARGOYLE have his rocket launch, if it goes where it's supposed to, keep a good eye on any OTHER rocket\\missle they get ready to launch. If it DOESN'T go where it supposed to, FRAKK'N give him a Tomahawk to think about, take out the launch pad, and tell him, "try that again…PLEASE. *wink*
You covered everthing but subprime mortgages. It reminds me of the poster of the mouse holding up a digit as the eagle swoops in.
No we would just be breaking a 57 year old cease fire. The VC did it all of the time. I have always heard that cease fire in Vietnanese translates to RESUPPLY.
Do you think the reason they have on fear is because Iran got away with it a few weeks ago?
No this one is on Clinton. He signed a treaty with NK that said they would not develop nuclear weapons. Then in thier first attempt of blackmail, they kicked out the inspectors and started processing the used fuel rods.
And it has moved on from there. And now we have a Clinton as Sec of State do you think she has learned to tell if some is telling her the truth.
Hawaii is closer that Alaska. Where was the Pres. born?
Hey "DUDE", I've got a hemorrhoid older than you. I was in Viet Nam and damned proud of it. I can tell by the comments that there are alot of us on this site and I can almost say for sure that none of us like war. It's not like in the movies "DUDE". , it's horrible! Memories of friends lost and of things that haunt you for the rest of your life. I say this because I don't take war lightly, but sometimes you have to make a stand. What our young and brave are doing now makes me weep, weep because I know what's coming for them. Where would you draw the line to when enough is enough. I know some laugh at the saying but it's so very true. "FREEDOM ISN'T FREE " Maybe some day when you grow up you'll understand but I doubt it.
Even the missile shield can't catch a missile from behind. The trick is position the interceptor in front of the target and let them run into each other.
Now that Korea is gassing up their long range missile, I'd like to take this moment to say goodbye to you all.
I pay taxes so my government can protect us, but I don't think this government has the balls to blow up this missile. Where does that leave me when my body is blown up?
Why not we could truly be a O BOMB A NATION then.
Our old Minuteman missiles used the same type of fuel. And none of them were ever launched. What you pump in you can pump out.
The US is full of hot air. They will not do anything but sit and watch it go up.
Um, how is that unlike us now under our "ruler". ?????(((((barf)))))
The US military is not spread too thin in South Korea. Reports show North Korea has only enough artillery to launch a 15 day war on South Korea. The reality is the people of North Korea are oppressed and starving. The North Koreans are risking their lives daily trying to escape their border. Russia and China have long influenced and expanded their powers into North Korea. North Korea doesn't have enough equity to make it worth the US time or attention. We remain involved because of outside interests. The question is, "Who really is behind this launch?" Has anyone ever considered the thought of Russia allowing North Korea to use it's airspace to launch this rocket over the Arctic Circle…?
If they shoud, and they probably will, launch their rocket, all of the countries that are in question here should do a complete sanction of all trade with NK. If China will also honor this they will be at the wolrds mercy within a couple of months. NK depends on a lot of folks just to keep themselves fed. Hungry people will soon agree to things in a different way…
No, he doesn't. It is up to my brothers and sisters to stand up for this country. We always have and always will, so that other American can sit back, watch the war with a cold drink and hot meal in the company of their family, all the while an 18 year old fights for his unit and the country he has sworn to protect. Don't worry atticus89dude, you can sleep well and enjoy your comfy life. The Marines (Army, Navy,Air Force, Guard and Coasties) will be standing front and center, ready, able and more then willing to defend America. We'll call you when its safe to come out.
We have been at war with them since 1950. A country is a known target and easy to hit, not a stateless group of terrorists.
Who votes comradeobama out of this site? I do. This is some volunteer for the Obama administration to go one here to see how many of us are upset so he clamp down on the second amendment he is a spy people…. Who is charge in running this website someone is his rhetoric is truly from the left none of our messages are truly from the right I vote him out.
I do not agree with what he says, but I will defend to the death his right to say it.
Who said that?
The F-22 is the only hope. The airborne laser has worked in an operational test yet.
With nuclear devices 50 miles is awful close. As soon as it shows it will not make escape velocity it should be brought down. God Bless Midcourse Ballistic Missile Defense. GO NAVY
Plus she already receive 2 deportation findings and she is still here. Obama even threw her under the bus.
He dimed her out in his book.
atticus89dude bring it its a a recession China has our debt they suffer more from a depression then we will. MEANINGLESS, so your freedom is meaningless they start we finish! One more thing you think for one second, China will have pity on you they win they will sit back and have us work and tax us till the day we die. They will do to us what we did to Japan in WW2 coward. Obama is for Europe atticus89dude, if its meaning less move out of America coward, and dont have a voice one this site. You and 67million others will be responsible for this attack because you voted the messiah who is liar in office, so you would want Alaska wiped off the map? Its tards like you the reason why we are in this mess… Oh don't harm the enemy, they are nice, close gitmo let them live here! to secure peace prepare for war
NANCYNURSE, yes you do have to pick your battles. Perhaps Japan will bring it down. Then again if that is the case then why would we need to park destroyers in their back yard? The possibilities after launch are many and I do not pretend to know them all. The cost of doing nothing could be a price exacted in many innocent lives, and that shouldn't be an option. Why even take that chance? Apathy is merely the glove into which evil slips it's hand. We cannot turn a blind eye under the guise of picking our battles. Situations like this are what SOCOM is made for and I suggest we let them handle it.
Believe it or not it would probably save us money. Except for the US Satellite that Aegis shoot down. We have had to pay to launch a target missile to test missile defense.
Bring it its a a recession China has our debt they suffer more from a depression then we will. MEANINGLESS, so your freedom is meaningless they start we finish! SIC VIS PACEM PARBELLUM resit it over and over because you will be on the front lines defending your home
I remember that crap from the 80's, the movie Wall Street showed the way they did it, but American companies also own large pieces of companies overseas. Is it right for America, no, but at the same time if the boards of these companies decide on the sale, then there is no way to block it. Any law to do so, would be what we should stand against, government control. Do I know the answer, no. The only thing I can suggest is pray that owners of these companies develope some morals and think of the workers, communities and America before any sell.
Better yet, let the ROK Marines do it, they'll blend in better.
They are just trying to provoke us into stupid actions that the UN woud condemn. As my husband the VET says, it ain't our fight. And trust me, he is no chicken. Just gotta pick your battles. I say launch. Japan will bring it down. Hate to be S. Korea, though. But maybe, if they'd support some of our diplomatic efforts or even pushed back at N Korea, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I am no fan of the UN, Aspade. The UN would have us over there paying them millions to take down their rockets. I like Gates , he kept his cool.
.In this dangerous world we live in a president should have military experience….General Petraeus would have been a great president, and had he ran and won the election- I don't think North Korea would be so bold along with the rest of our adversaries. Experience and character should be at the forefront in 2012, we have all learned a valuable lesson. Imagine a ticket being Petraeus/Romney, Romney would have been great for the economy and ofcourse Petraeus to protect this great country. God Bless America.
JOLEE, I would love to see something put into public referendum that would make a presidential requirement to have served at least one combat tour. Then again I am just a biased serviceman. I would like to see the likes of Ronald Reagan again. I have been and am deeply concerned about the nation we have become. My how far we have fallen from our forefather's dreams. So many seem to have adopted an attitude of tolerance and apathy rather than maintaining the ideals of determination and sacrifice. It was the few who sacrificed for the many. America was born. Have we forgotten who we are? Has the backbone been bred out of the American people? Are we nothing more than a pile of meat with eyes and ears capable only of nodding in apathetic agreement? I thank God that I was raised in a home where the ideals of America were upheld! I am lucky. We have a long road ahead of us my friend and the first step is to be proactive rather than reactive.
Its sad maybe we have to be attack on such a large scale to actual wise up and fight a war by any means to win…
Thank you, hark, I appreciate your kind words. Unfortunately, I would be too terrified to speak to a crowd. I can run across a mine field, or clear a pillbox alone, but I can't speak to groups without getting queasy.
In spite of your shyness of crowds please keep speaking to us through your comments here in this forum. You are a voice for all veterans and your live testimony of fighting for this country is both admirable and relevant.. You are the kind of person I and many others can learn from. You are already our hero, please be our teacher as well. Bless you!
This old man's white as snow skin has just burst into flames with blush. I'm sure my wife looked over and thought I'd gotten into her rouge.
My grandchildren can attest to the fact that I clam up tight in front of people, but I'm sure they've also seen the various letters I've written to our newspapers. I prefer to write over anything else in my life – it is the only place in the universe where I can unravel my own thoughts well enough to put them into a message that actually has some sense.
I used to be a silly boy, jabbering on incessantly, but when I came home, had had little to say.
It's taken these 65 years for me to realize I have much more to say than I should, but I also realized if there ever was a time to say anything of real value it's now. All mouths are shut at some point – so if any of us has anything real to say, I have come to believe we damn well better say it.
Thank you so much, granee, for your kind words and encouragement. I hope to not be a hero, or a teacher, I just want to be one example of the many ways life should be lived – that's all.
No offense but that's sounds like it came straight out the U.N.'s mouth. Let them launch you say? What if their missile falls on a neighboring country due to computer component failure for example? Their last attempt didn't even get off the launch pad because it blew up! What if they just pick somebody out to make an example in an attempt to gain "respect" and be taken seriously? You would say that isn't our problem right? Lets not do anything until we're glowing in the dark on national t.v. then act surprised and get angry.
Hmmmm, this might be a good time to try the new airborne laser the D.O.D. has in R&D. Stand off range is 200 miles maybe park a couple F-22's up there with tanker support and wait to see who comes out to play.
Have we ever used the F-22 in combat does anyone know or is it a unicorn? They are always at air shows but do they actual fight. Does anyone know if are they stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Sorry for the delay, the Air Force has a operational wing. As far as I know the F-22 hasn’t seen combat yet but the testing has been a great success. In training exercises the F-22 has defeated our F-15 Eagles in all mock engagements. The Raptor’s big advantage is it’s stealth, if you can’t see it you can’t shoot it down. Sooner or later we are going to have to face the North Korean’s, is it better to do it now or wait until they have the weapons to hit the U.S. or sell those weapons to a Muslim nut case?
Call it a paranioa theory but this is a scenario I can see happening:____North Korea launches the rocket. It is in fact equipped with a nuke and because we didn't want to make an international scene we didn't blow it up immediately. Suddenly it becomes too late to blow it up. (You know, let it land and there goes Juno! or blow it up in the Jet stream and there goes Alaska!) So we end up loosing a city. ____We (the US) get pissed off and say we are going to go destroy N. Korea! But we can't use nukes because we might hurt S. Korea or China. We start setting up an invasion. Russia and China say "Oh no you don't! The Security councel has to agree on it!" Because they feel we might "perpetuate genocide" which is bad. ____So now we end up in a big geopolitical debate on if we can or can not retaliate against N. Korea for its attack on the US and because our administration is weak and our military is spread so thin we don't. But hey! We issue a strong protest and impose heavy sanctions. ____Yeah, unlikely, but sometimes I can't help thinking of worse case scenarios.
Let them fuel up their rocket !!!!! This should of ended in 1968. I don't know everything about the politics in it, My dad was there in 1968 to 1971 and never really talked about it. But I do know it was the Politics that killed our soldiers and loss of the war.
Personally if USA or Japan shoot this down (they will not) N. Korea will use the incident as an act of war? Let them. we should shoot it down so the future generation doesn't have to deal with this threat.
I heard on FOX News today that the fuel in the rocket is highly corrosive. Once it is fueled it is going to be launched. It might be an interesting weekend.
It would have been nice if General Petraus ran for president in this last election and won, I would feel a lot
One veteran to another I thank you for taking the time and having the patience to offer guidance to our all too often misguided(or perhaps misled) youth. Your post was well written and I felt a twinge in my heart when I read your words. You are right he simply doesn't know enough to know that he does not know. I thank you for your sacrifices both on the battlefield and off. I wish there were more like you to speak to those that would listen. God bless you brother! Semper Fi
Thanks, spade.
Every kid is more misinformed than anything, or simply underinformed. In my day, there were a few, but nowadays, it seems to be a very large majority. It is by no means their fault, though. A kid old enough to enter the military has a good chance of having two dove parents. And like they always say, "He who controls the information, controls the world."
All kids parrot their parents' beliefs for a time, then as they reach the doorway to adulthood, they have three possible directions to take their own beliefs in.
First, they can just keep clutching to the one sided discussions that took place around their dinner table for the past eighteen years, whether it be conservative or liberal. These are the grownups of the future who only speak in sound bytes and vote straight down party lines no matter what.
Second, they can rebel against anything and everything mom and dad say. They aren't rebelling against any of the messages they get, they're just fighting against whatever the folks want, and for whatever the folks loathe. These are the ones who live forever as true rebels without a cause, who have clashes with authority wherever they go, just because they can.
Then there's the third direction: there is the kid who becomes a free thinker who is open to everything but clings onto nothing without independent study of the issue at hand. They are discussers, not arguers. They are the ones whose minds create new ideas, while their hearts honor the past as a wonderful library filled with wisdom.
I am choosing to have faith that atticus is walking in the third direction.
No worries, I wasn't offended or anything, but thanks for the lecture. I was only going on by what I learned in US History, which they pretty much told us the war was pointless. But I will take the time and read what I can from all point of views about the war.
I also want to thank you for your service for this country and in no way did I mean to offended you or any soldier that fought in Vietnam.
I'll take what you have told me and learn what I can about the war and the reasons fought.
I won't get back to you today or tomorrow, but as soon as I possibly can, you'll hear from me.
That might be a good idea if there were a shred of evidence that North Korea has told the truth or kept their word on any agreement they've ever made.
Young man, all war is pointless because all life is pointless – if you have nothing to live for or believe in.
It was pointless for the Japanese to strike a harbor of the United States, but they did so because they had a strong conviction that we posed an unimaginable threat were we to be persuaded to enter the War with our peerless Navy. Their strategic belief gave rise to this great country's conviction to stop living without purpose as we had for much of the past 40 years.
So, I ran all the way across town without stopping, clutching a forged birth record, and joined our eternally revered soldiers at the age of 17, simply because I had always lived and believed in this nation and all it stood for. I wasn't fighting a pointless war in my mind, because I had an ideal to live for, and the protection of that ideal to die for.
You haven't lived long enough to have learned all the information necessary to make a comment about Vietnam, so I will let that go.
But to respond to your misconception that halting the technological progress of a nation's nuclear intentions would be pointless in itself; let alone the 'pointlessness' of standing against any other aggressor that chose to oppose America's desire to keep the insane from taking the asylum, I can only say…
If you truly believe that America shouldn't involve itself in an unavoidable situation that, if left unchecked, will inevitably lead to a battle whose fallen dead will fill several Grand Canyons, then yours' is a political opinion you have every right to voice – because I took a few dozen pieces of shrapnel and 5 bullets to keep that right protected. I do not begrudge you your perspective at all, and am actually proud that you, at the early threshold of manhood, would be aware and concerned with vital issues and global events enough to be here and speak up. I can't say that about most of your age group.
As I said, your political stance is yours, and should be expressed – however, I hope that you can do one thing for me. Spend a few weeks reading all you can find about our supposedly "pointless" wars in Korea, and later Vietnam. Read as many different perspectives as you can find, without being biased in your reading list. Then, when you honestly feel you have a solid understanding of the events themselves, and the perspectives of both hawks and doves, then come back to this page. Let me know what you've learned, what surprised you to know, what perspectives and opinions of yours were changed or strengthened.
I don't want you to agree with me, or disagree with me, I just want you to take time to learn what truths hide behind the curtains of history that distort each point of view.
I'm just an old man who thinks very differently than you, but honors your opinion. I don't have any illusions that you're definitely going to do any of what I asked – but if you find it in you to do this, it would be a great pleasure to this old broken down soldier.
If I don't hear from you ever again, keep in mind as long as you can, that the only time an action or a viewpoint is pointless, is when the beholder sees no point to life.
Sorry for the lecture, but I wouldn't have said a word if I thought it was pointless.
PrplHrt_Patriot, if this were a live venue I believe you would have just received a standing ovation. Thank you for your service and VERY well said 'lecture.'
i want to thank u for all your service to are country. i left my store manager job to join the army so i could help my country and keep it safe. if i do have to fight in a war then i am doing somthing to honer are country and to keep my wife and daughter safe. we all need to stand up some way and some how for america
Thank you, boxer, for offering yourself on the altar of service. If anyone had a valid and honorable reason not to serve, it would be the fathers. You are giving more sacrifice just by standing up to protect your family, than most other drones in today's generation that cannot find a thing to attach their convictions to.
I am proud of you, and am glad to hear there are still those who actually care about the purpose of battling an enemy – instead of seeing it as a paycheck for college. I shake my head at all the convoluted motivations young men have these days, so your intent is something to be proud of.
The only thing that saddens me is that you have to stand alone, away from your family at one point in the future, because another man with no responsibilities except washing his car, won't stand. Young man, be careful. I know you are willing to fight for your country, and for that wife and daughter of yours, and I am choked up now thinking about that, but you also have every right and responsibility to serve your own.
To explain, I have to tell a small story that will likely explode into a galaxy of words…
In Imperial Rome, at the time when Julius Caesar was building his own standing army to be the mighty shield of the Empire, he often turned down enlisting soldiers who had just left their house without a father and husband. He didn't suggest they think about it, in most cases he actually forbade them from serving. There are some stories that he even enriched their lives, silently having coins left inside doorways, food delivered by "accident" and so on.
I'm just saying that you should do what your heart and the Lord ask of you, but feel no less honor and no shame at all, if you choose to stand with your family, instead of far away for your family. Trust me, there will be plenty of opportunities to fight for your ideals on this country's own soil in the next ten years.
And who knows, maybe Caesar will leave a little something inside your door now and then.
BRAVO BRO! I sent him to the VFW or the Legion to get the information first hand.
I wanted to respond to the young lad, but you said it all. I still remember "coming back" in 1968 and my memories are not pleasant. When someone starts pontificating about Viet Nam I get concerned, when they have no idea what they are talking about. I noticed many of the post here are full of testosterone, however. "Send in the seals", "blow it up on the pad, etc. While I believe we should deal with North Korea from a position of strength, "talking trash" to North Korea is not the answer. Unfortunately I believe that we have not dealt with North Korea from a position of strength. I do agree that if the missile does show characteristics other then that of a satellite delivery system, then we should destroy it. What is more important is that we make sure that NK does not export its technology and we should use whatever leverage we have with the Chinese. What we can not do is make blind threats like "I am going to tell my mommy, i.e. the UN". Pressure on the Chinese is our best course.
JOLEE, you are welcome…but please don't thank me. I lived. Many of my brothers in arms did not. Thank them. Thank them by honoring their memory, and by fighting in whatever way you can to restore this nation to the greatness it once knew. In turn you thank me through your actions.
they are in my prayers along with you sir, if their is a war I'm 6th generation 3 grand fathers in world wars 1 died, an uncle in Korea and a father in Vietnam. I'm the only one in my family to go because my older brother is sick he is epileptic and I have a sister who wont go because they don't draft women to fight, however I don't mind but I m the only one in my family who loves our mother. My sister and brother suppress my mother, she is 60 but doesn't show her age she looks 45-50 but she has high blood pressure. I see the threat and if the outcome is server I will however see her again along with everyone else in the after life.
Actually a Sidewinder would be ineffective against a Ballistic missile. The Sidewinder has a max speed of 2.5 mach (roughly 600/mps depending on other conditions). We are guessing that the Taepodong-2 travels between 7,900 – 9,000/mps. You can see the disparity. That is why we need a missile shield. The interceptor rockets are the only weapons in our inventory that can travel that fast in order to take something like that out.
Thank you for your service to our country, you are a true patriot. God Bless.
357Ben…. there was also that attack of the 100 jets we did on Libya too. That scared the hell out of old Khadafi and he hasn't been the same since.
YEP! A little fear can be a good thing.
Kind of like when running into the schoolyard bully. The bully will pick on everyone that doesn't fight back, but if someone fights back, it puts a healthy fear into them and they stop!
Not to mention putting a missile through his front door to let him know we are watching. Man those were the good old days!!
Well we have a nutjob AND nuclear capabilites but I would imagine our nutjob is more apt to turn em on his own people. Our nuclear capabilities MEAN NOTHING now because NO country in the world fears him except AMERICA!
don't forget flashing his pearly whites!
If this is a sales demonstration to potential customers of NK technology, let's all pray for a fireball on the launch pad. To kill off the potential of missile sales would be the best outcome we could hope for. Any old o-ring failure will do.
Did you know there was a helicopter pilot a few years back off of the washington coast that was blinded by such a weapon. He saw a red dot on a russian freighter just off the coast and at the same time all his instruments quit in the helicopter. Started getting a migraine by his description immeadiately. He went back and landed and within 3 hours the man was blind. Thats been, oh i'd say at least 10 years back and on a very small scale. I'm sure they have it perfected by now. I also forgot to state that 4 other fly overs alaska went undetected until after the bombers were out of our airspace because they came in at below 16,000 ft. I think all 3, china russia and north korea will do something before summer is here and hell who knows, maybe this week. Thanks for emailin back

Yea give me a thumbs down for my post but make no counterargument of any kind and don't bother to post any kind of response at all. Nice.
The man decides what is on TV, newspaper, and North Koreans do not have all access internet. It has not been available to them… HE controls what those people know through the usual channels of propoganda and Biased media. North Koreans believe it because it is all they know to beleive.
You took the bait, and gave the correct answer. Thumbs up.
A nut job with nuclear capabilities is never to be taken as a joke. Period.
I agree, this is very serious and I hope the Obama Administration is paying attention to North Korea's possible intent- that this missile could perhaps hit Alaska, I sometimes wonder if this administration takes this matter seriously.
