This action clearly violates his oath to honor the laws of the land. Whether a move for impeachment is necessary, I do not have the legal knowledge to say. However, I do feel that he should be held accountable for doing this. The President of the United States flat out does not have the authority to tell any CEO to walk, I don't care if the American people have a stake in the company or not.
However, I will say to all the companies that have run to Washington with tin cups, you reap what you sow. You should have never asked for money from the Federal Government. And certainly, the Federal Government should have sent you packing. the Government has no place in the Capital Markets or the Business Sector. This is what happens when you allow that. This is what happens when mob rule starts influencing legislation. We need to stop trying to influence Washington with emotion, and start using common sense and facts.
Hindsight being 20/20, the auto industry should have been allowed to fail. They got in bed with the devil and now they have no soul. Chrysler was loaned money, Lee A. Iaccoca produced an economical “K” car that brought them from the throws of bankruptcy. The government loaned them money, the bill was paid back in full early with interest. Granted the amount back then was much smaller, but close to what today’s dollar is worth. This isn’t and never has been about helping the auto industry. This is about grabbing a huge part of the American culture and creating indentured servants of the autoworkers, through the UAW.
OK lets do it BHO's way Let the oil companies pay for the bailout of Gm and Chrysler. Last year when we were payinf $4.00 for a gallon of gas, Exxon/Mobil had record profit years. They dont want to see an electric car. If they had to help with these bailouts, maybe they wont be so greedy next time our country is hurting.
The Democrats are trying to FORCE the Republican party into falling behind Rush. He is not the voice for the future. I listen to the man everyday at lunch. He is constantly bashing the Democratic party. It seems to me that a lot of the time he is more of a distraction than he needs to be. The biggest problem I have with Rush is that he has to let the rest of us know that he is right 98% of the time. The ego on this one is just as big as he is.
Can you imagine how long it took our founding fathers to finally stand up and say I will lead these people? I am imagining it took a long time before some one finally said my life is forfiet if the fight for the things I believe in fails. The John Hancocks, the Ben Franklins, the Alexander Hamiltons, the Thomas Jeffersons in our country right now are the ones I want to follow. Those folks that are PART of the population. Some one that feels the hurt of the government spending. Some one that is "just like us". That is the person I will stand behind. That is the kiind of leader I am looking for…
After watching Bill tonight, I was a little upset when he said that it's OK for a pres to fire a CEO. I don't care if they are insolvent or any other wall st term, the pres has absolutely no right to do what he has done. DID OBABA GIVE THE CEO 20 MILLION FROM HIS OWN POCKET?? Hell no, it came from out pockets. Who the hell is negotiating this kind of crap? Geithner?
We are now a oligarchy
I say 6 yr terms for house, with a vote of confidence every 2 years. No campaigning just a vote of aye or nay. Nay you are out and governor picks replacement. Senate 2 6 six yr with vote of confidence every 4 yrs same as house. President stay with 2 terms, but subject to vote of confidence
you know the shoe box on wheels dose not save any gas the way people in america drive get out on the hwy. and run the guts out of that little 3 banger 3200 rpm watch the tank go dry.nobody wants them .I'll keep my z-71 chevy
My point exactly
When the president of the USA suggests you quit. You Do NOT. Unless you're a civil servant, and thus, subject to his legitimate authority. Moves like these worry me, because I don't believe he'll hear the public. Why? because he doesn't want to. I do think that we gave him power, we being the people of the U.S. overall, and I think he is betraying the trust we placed in him for his own goals. he knows it's going to come down on him, and he doesn't care, he's just trying to hold it together long enough to get what he wants, Nothing I've seen out of the White House implies a real desire to govern as we wish to be governed. No one has ever had the nerve to pin him down for details on what he means by 'fixing' the economy…. which honestly doesn't need fixing, it needs to be left to go through its flow, as painful as that is. and yes, it's painful for me. The entire problem can be summed up thusly. He is advocating a position NOT of the people, but of his own. I honestly believe he merely hopes to keep enough static in the air to keep people away from the reality he is trying to impose until it is too late.
And I fear it is working.
Buy a horse, if it breaks down you can always eat it.
GM cars are CRAP anyway…bought a Grand Am brand new and had $5000 worth of repairs in the first year….never again….Ford all the way
I'll pick the lock on your shackles and help you escape….
Maybe you should change your voter registration before the next congressional election….pretty safe to say the dems will always be nuts
So Rick Wagoner asked to step down after working for a salary of $1…Gee, I wonder if he said thank you. The Obama administration afraid the bailouts for GM might go beyond 26 billion. Hrm, I wish they were struck with the same fear on AIG, and the myriad of banks they bailed out including all the foreign entities through the AIG trojan horse that all received far more than GM and Chrysler have received combined to date. I wonder why the auto industry is getting so much pressure. Maybe AIG forgot to pass them the hat to tithe to Dodd and the rest of those knuckleheads. I see my earlier prediction was right on the folks getting bailed out 'donating' 160k to just Dodd. Fox News aired that earlier. I bet that just scratches the surface in all the political mess.
In 20 years when he reaches 35.
I know how those fact finding debates go. I present facts, you present counter facts and so on. Nothing gets done. How bout this, you can have your opinion, and I can have mine. I won't poke a stick in your eye and I expect you to do the same.
The CEO of GM is gone and with him is 20 million of our hard earned money. Wish Obama and his "group" would leave the USA for 20 million that would be a cheap price pay to get our country back.
Here's a thought…maybe he took all those people to Europe with him so he can make sure everyone knows how to do the Royal Wave.
I think a march on Washington is the first step to getting Congress to listen to us. Do you all remember the throng of humanity who gathered and weeped when "He Who Would Be King" was crowned? That's the kind of crowd we need to form in Washington. I'll be there if I have to start walking now! All it takes is one voice…
THE BIG INTERNATIONAL BANKING POWERS WILL NOT GET HURT BY GM BANKRUPTCY
GM bondholders comprise a wide range of individuals and institutions, including mutual funds, pension funds and a very significant number of retail holders. GM bondholders are not a collection of "Wall Street banks." Many of these bonds are owned by average citizens, who purchased them to support their own retirement and college expenses and other critical needs.

It's clear, if we fail to right what the Executive branch of the USA is doing we're heading to having a Oligarchy not a Republic. I'm fearful we are already there.
It's like the Constitution doesn't even exsist. Someone tell me it isn't so…………………
