More from the Treasury Secretary – he wants “new rules of the game.”

The words “sweeping overhaul” should tell you much.

I have been reading the various posts and find them interesting. However, in order for this to work we have to be able to sort out the ideas and post a summary. I just cannot read all ot the information. There is not enough time in the day! I know Glen Beck does what he can but one person is not going to get us where we are trying to go. I am not sure which way we need to jump with this project but we may only get one chance at this and it had better be right. For sure this voice needs to hammer the senators and congressmen/women. This has become a loud voice but it has yet to be felt in the halls of power. Maybe some of the other voices like Rush, Lara, Mark, Hannity, etc will get on board. This really needs to be thought out fast so we can start having some impact. Things are moving vary fast and we are going to be left behind. One the debt is so large a new administration may not be able to help us.

The core problem with Geithner's plan is that the reason hedge funds and derivatives are not covered by current regulations is that financial entities created these as a way to wiggle around regulations. If this Administration seeks to create more regulations all that is going to happen is more wiggling — and possibly even more damaging results in the future. If this bill is allowed to go through, all these bailouts and spending bills are going to look like child's play. Super-regulation will prove to the American people that economic conditions really do trickle down.

I believe I Miss George is right. There are a lot of very intelligent people on this site, with many great ideas and thoughts. We need to pool these ideas together and formulate a plan to put an end to this nonsense. We cannot let this crisis go to waste either. We need to use this crisis to prove our point to the rest of the American people that we are not just losing our Republic, it may already be lost. It is not hopeless, however. It is lost, but it can be found.

  3. That's another good idea, thanks again Trod. I haven't even gotten a form letter saying "thanks but no thanks" yet, so I am afraid to proceed, but determined not to give up. I will send the idea to FNC's website, and maybe that will prove to be the best avenue, or yet another dead end… but try it all, right?

  4. Thanks, I appreciate the info.

This Geitner creep alone is reason enough to hold mass protests around the country. I wonder what we have to do to have him tossed out along with Pelosi and Barney Frank. This freak show has got to have an end and waiting around until the next election cycle Is not an option we can afford to wait for . Maybe we ought to aggressively pursue avenues to have these people shamed into obscurity.

Maybe we should take up donations to hire a private investigator dig into these peoples lives the way they illegally dug into Joe the Plumber's. Anyone know one? How much does he or she charge for their services? Lawyers who might be present: is there a way to have the law work in our favor for a change and force the issue of having these people tossed out? Can we seek legal action or a class action lawsuit against the states that keep voting these jerks in who are damaging the rest of us? Come on, let's put our heads together and come up with something!

Okay , I have read a few wonderful idea's here and the Armory Of Knowledge is great. First of all unless we march on Washington no one is going to listen to us. We need a coordinated way to let this President know that we do not want or support his idea's. I am in favor of RECALL but I happen to like my Senators. Those of you that have corrupt Senators should really look at your states constitution and start a RECALL. One way we might get attention is if we peacefully protest in front of our local radio& television stations. We should pick a day and a time to do it and all states should be apart of it. We would be all over the air waves and the world would at least know that we the American People will not stand for dictatorship. Just a thought!

Listen Up Folks! There Is A Bill That Has Been Submitted That We All Need To Support Right Now And Back-up Those Sponsors With Phone Calls And Letters…

    "Let's Have A Constitutional Showdown"

Every Congressman swears an oath to “…preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” To a casual observer, these words could be interpreted to mean that laws enacted by Congress should be consistent with the requirements of the Constitution. To the majority of Congress, these words seem to mean something else, or have no meaning at all, because much of the legislation produced in Washington has no relationship at all with the Constitution. We are a Republic Nation founded upon the U.S. Constitution,AND our laws should be constrained by the Constitution.

Arizona Representative John Shadegg has introduced the “Enumerated Powers Act” (HR450) which requires that:“Each Act of Congress shall contain a concise and definite statement of the constitutional authority relied upon for the enactment of each portion of that Act.” Again-Every congressman who has sworn to “…preserve, protect and defend the Constitution,” They all should eagerly endorse this concept without hesitation, doubt or question – or be exposed as a hypocrite and traitor to the people, then be voted out of his or her Seat or impeached. They're there to speak for us as a people. If they are not true to the Constitution and the voices of "We The People" They betray us,betray our country and their oath. They are worthless to us as both Representatives of States and Nation .They do not belong in a position entrusted by our states, country or People whereby they willingly abuse the power and authority we've entrusted to them with either contempt, irresponsibility or blantent incompetence. They do not represent us at all…

Today-Now more than ever before They are not protecting Us "The People",Nor Our "Constitution and Our Rights",nor our Country. They've all violated the oath that Each One Has Sworn To-Including that Destructive President. Those Speaking and Voting otherwise against the will of the people to me is treasonous and trecherous to the Liberty and Freedom Of Us All- and must be removed from holding those seats. We must remain aware, be vigilant to the deceptions behind the words and speak out to preserve and protect Our Constitutional Rights and Our Country As A Whole. No else there in DC is going to do it for us unless we push the issues. The Time has come that we realize that -that "Piece Of Paper-Our Constitution" is the "One And Only Thing" Within Our Government That Is Actually There To Protect The American People. We cannot allow them to take our rights from us,bankrupt our country and destroy what has made this the nation of dreams that others want to come to-to be free…for FREEDOM…

We should never give these up willingly or silently. We must not stand still ,We must not be silent while they destroy what is Great about the USA and being American! They didn't ask for our consent. They don't have Our Consent,we need to ensure they all know it.They cannot take our country down this extreme socialist path with out our consent.Silence is the same as consent, let us all never be silent again. The time to Be American,Speak Out Boldly as a American is Now…Right Now Folks….

This bill I spoke of was introduced to the House on January 9; it has "Only" 18 co-sponsors. This means that 417 representatives are not co-sponsoring this bill as of yet. This number can and should be changed. However It will not change, , unless We the People and Voters-US- force our individual representatives to also co-sponsor this bill for us, or publicly explain to the American People why he or she will not then see to it that they are voted out. It's up to us to act to change that sponsorship to the will of the American People. Not the will of this administration and big government. We can start by bombarding them all with phone calls, emails write letters to the congressmen and your state representatives. Then write open letters to them "Public" letters. Post them, post their responses on line, blogs message boards.Print up and post them where ever you can where people will see them on goldenrod paper with black ink.People will look at them quicker with those colors-like caution signs and school buses. It'll draw attention just because. Get more people talking-listening.Stir it up enough that they'll HAVE to respond to cover their butts. It's like they say."It's like a pile of crap. The more you stir it-the worse it smells.Soon everyone around notices what it is that stinking up the place." Time to start stirring folks….

They work for Us,let's not allow them to ever forget that fact again….

  10. Mach, What system do you recommend we use? There will always be people who achieve. You can not level the playing field. No one has the right to tell me how or where to live nor how much money I can make, NOT IN MY AMERICA SIR! If someone chooses to live in poverty or suck on a crack pipe it is not my fault or responsibility. What you are espousing is unmitigated Socialism/Communism and that system has failed wherever it has been tried. The European Union is telling us don't go there, our Government should not be so egotistical to believe they can do it better. Where else has laissez faire capitalism been practiced and failed? You need to quit repeating slogans and do some research.

  12. Robert,
How do you justify giving government more control? What business have they run? What program do they have that is a success?

  13. CyntaMints says:

Geithner is a loose wing nut, he meaning the government wants total power over our country's industries and so on. You can look at him and see pure evil in his eyes. Hes nothing more than a servant to the anti-crist.

  14. I agree with robert, these institutions have the nation's money supply on their books. Any failure on their part puts the entire money supply of the United States in jeopardy. Besides, laissez faire capitalism is a known failure. Capitalists are inherently greedy people today. Rather than banking and investing being about creating sustainable, long term growth that benefits all involved, our capitalist system has become one big get rich quick scheme. The financial markets have been irresponsible with the freedom and power they have been given. They have not proved that they don't need regulation.

Unfortunately our economic system is based on greed, and last time I checked greed was a bad thing. Greed hurts innocent people. If these financial corporations can't be responsible for themselves, then the body politick needs to make them responsible. This is a legitimate job of the government in the economy, you're right to make money ends when you hurt people. These large corporations don't understand that, and thus they have lost the collective trust of America. WIth great power comes great responsibility.

  18. I_Miss_George:

I really like your idea of the "Armory of Knowledge." I started listening to Glenn last fall and realized that I have been living in an uninformed bubble for years. I have begun a reading campaign to educate myself, but I'm a first-year school teacher, only employed half-time, and I can't afford to buy these materials. It is often difficult to find the books he recommends at the library. (I live in a very conservative area, and there are VERY long waiting lists for all the items he recommends- and many of the newer ones are not available in libraries yet!)

Is there a way to post the contents of some of these books online? Older documents could be copied without copyright infringement, correct? All it would take is a website and someone willing to type. (Is there already a site where one can access the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence?) Do we think any of the more recent authors would be willing to post at least some of their material online in support of "The Cause"? Or, perhaps, a 'cliff-notes' version that incorporates a bibliography as well? The more information we have, from dependable sources, the more we'll be able to defend our stance with ideas and logic, rather than relying on emotion, religion, and tradition.

Maybe we could add a section to the 912Project site that incorporated information and discussion: links to documents online, excerpts from more recent books, etc. combined with a well-organized and indexed discussion forum. Perhaps if we were able to reference and organize our comments… Maybe comment titles that reference the document and section being discussed? Hmm…

Thanks for your idea. How do we make it happen?

  20. Thanks trod, I'll send it Glenn's way through his radio site, that's a good idea.  I hope it isn't overkill, because I tried to post it in a few different places so that it had a better chance of being seen by the right people.

As far as making the information accessible to any level of education, I think it is a key element in the whole idea.  I'll most likely be constructing thematic breakdowns and paraphrasing of tougher to follow quotes from back when we still spoke like Englishmen.  I really want to avoid any possibility of my interpretations or biases to change the core meaning of any of the information, so to some degree it will have to retain some archaic language, but I will do my best to create impartial summaries.

I agree everyone should have a voice, and that no one knows everything.  This Armory would be an archive of American historical documents, ideas, and all other pertinent nuggets of information.  Since it's an archive, though, it might not be the place for voicing opinions – I won't even let my opinions on the topics come into play at the Armory, because this site in itself is the pulpit from which everyone can voice their thoughts.  The Armory would just be like a wonderful school book through which every member of the 912 Project can expand their convictions about what makes the country great.

When it seems that a majority of members are getting to a singular point of understanding, then we will be much more universally in agreement.  Once a group of people can stand together of their own free will, sharing equally a mission, a knowledge base, and then a driving intent to pick a course together, rather than willy-nilly in small clusters with little to no framework, then we will be truly efficient, energized, and effective.

    Sorry for rambling off again.

  21. I think the lawsuits defending the constitution will be slow coming because the primarily Liberal attorneys and people in academia are thrilled to see the constitution shredded. Tim Geitner should first figure out how to pay his own taxes before asking for more power over companies and businesses that actually understand how to make this country function and prosper.

The knowledge armory can help us all learn. I by all means need it. I want to also hear from older and younger people who don't want to live in a world governed by tyranny. This is getting way to scary.</DIV> <DIV style=”FONT: 10pt arial”>

    • Trod, I followed your directions, and on Glenn's site I found the emails for Glenn as well as Stu – albeit they were probably just addresses provided for his show, and likely skimmed through randomly by staffers. I do hope that it gets a chance to be read by Glenn, or somehow brought to his attention.

I'm already scouring the net to build the actual Knowledge Weapons (just a name I use for each individual document, speech, text) which will then be indexed, stored and made as user friendly as a card catalog, I hope. I just don't want to construct a site on my own with this. I feel it would be improper to do it without Glenn's ok, or his stamp of approval and support.

Also, I'm waiting to build the Armory as a whole because I would love it if this could be a part of the 912 Project site, rather than a separate website. I think that would cut down on the number of members using the Armory, simply because people are inclined to stick with the site they're on when it comes to things like this project.

By the way, Trod, I will keep you informed via email. If anyone else on the Project wants to be kept in the loop on this, or wants to offer suggestions, possible sources of credible information, or is just curious and wants to hear more details of The Armory Of Knowledge, feel free to email me at mail.d.lowden@gmail.com.

I will do my very best to return all emails, but if this starts to become something of real interest and encouragement, my replies may take a little time. Thanks Trod, for all your comments on this, I appreciate them.

  24. donttrod says:

Ok I did a little listening and look up. Since our constitutional rights are being trashed we need to by pass congress and go to the supreme cout. But They will not take a constitutional case unless someone can prove that what the congress or the administration has done hurts a peticular person. For example.. The Aig exs. were targeted by congress and a bill was passed to punish them. That is against their rights. So we need to get someone to sue the government because they were specifically target by the congress in an abuse of power. Who can we get. Anyone know anyone at AIG . I know all of us are being threatened. Lets look at the fairness doctrine. If Glenn or Rush or Hannity get taken off the air, maybe we as a group can say it targeted conservatives and hurt us. I don't know, we need ideas people and I am begining to think we need many people to march to Washington DC. It is getting tense and time is running out. Start telling everyone you know., If you don't think this is worth fighting for we as a nation are lost., This administration and the people in the congress and senate (both parties) are going beyond socialism and marching right toward a one world government.

You don't sound nuts, it is true. They want as many people as possible to depend on the Gvt. Then, they will get these people's votes. AND once they are half way plus 1, it does not matter who and how many of us go to vote. THey will keep winning–and that is the threat–it is real.

  30. daniela123 says:

Call your senators and congress people and let them know how you feel! We have to get organized, and take ACTION! It helps to talk to each other here, but it is not enough. THEY are brainwashing our kids in schools, paying off officials to get them elected and work for them (not us), and the Gvt. is subsidizing many people, like Acorn and other "charity" organizations "for volunteers" that are offering their time (supposedly) free (although they are paid by bogus educational programs with tax payer money to fit their agenda–political, not educational). We are facing great obsticles, but we should really organize by state, participate in local tea parties and other movements–what do YOU think?

We should start a petition of some sort and everyone can add to it and we should submit it together–just an idea, I would love to hear yours.

  31. daniela123 says:

THis is what bugs me: THe reps. really had a chance to stand out and not put any pork projects in. They did–and for that, they lost our trust. We have to find new people to put in and a way to support them to get elected. THe problem is funding, but maybe Glenn, Rush, and Hennety will help by inviting potential candidates on their program.

  32. Among you all who have read my obscenely too large post above – I apologize for my verbosity – I'm curious to get feedback, questions or comments about the idea. Angel68, I think I heard that same thing yesterday, and just wonder if my idea would be something Glenn, and all the members would find valuable enough to integrate with the site.

I'm debating on whether it's worthy of taking the time of Beck and his staff, or if the concept is just something that would be neat but just not significant enough to be pursued. What does everybody think? Not fishing for gushing compliments or heart shattering insults, just some replies that help me see it from many perspectives.

If it sounds like there is a pretty good backing to the idea, I will immediately start developing the 912 Armory, but if not, I won't have to spend my time doing something everyone thinks is silly or unnecessary.

Also, Angel, I've always listened to Glenn's radio program only, and would love to know if that chat was after his morning broadcast, or following his evening FNC tv show. Either way, do you still have a link to where he does these chats?

Maybe someone can create a brand new website that will have links by state whould help us better organize. Don't give up! Let's use out heads and put them together and we should come up with brilliant ideas!

  37. JRockSci says:

I have looked at the state constitutions on N.J and NEV. Both have sections on recalling elected officials.
The conditions are different in each state. The 2 I looked at says of 25% of the voters petition for recall there has to be an election within a couple of months. For you Harry Ried fans looks at Article 2 Section 9 of the state constitution. All federal officals take an oath of office to "protect and defend the Constitution of the US" Fast tracking a bill, that anyone with a brain knows is unconstitutional, is a violation of the OATH of office. Lying while under oath is grounds for recall. LET THEM KNOW WE SURROUND THEM..

  38. Carlo21 says:

I'm still stuck on the fact that Mr. Geithner is in his position. How is it that someone that "made an honest mistake" or so called honest mistake be the secretary of state and head of the IRS let alone allowed to do his own taxes this next year? The president says he has full confidence that this person is the best man for the job?

    • daniela123 says:

I may just have to pray that some of Glenn's staff stumbles upon my post and takes the time to read my meandering comment. I do welcome any suggestions on how to more successfully get my thoughts to them – if more than just a few think the concept holds any merit. If not, I'll shut up and sit back in the corner :)

  41. Partschick says:

Geithner was fully aware of what these banks were doing. He helped to create this mess, and was rewarded with a cabinet seat. It's no coincidence that this "crisis" came to light right before the election? A crisis concerning a subject that the press highly touted as being a McCain weakness. The foundation for this was laid long ago. Obama's 'legal' work for ACORN was forcing banks to give loans to people who couldn't afford them through the courts. Here in Chicago, it's called Pay To Play. I imagine the conversation went something like this: You can falsely inflate the profits in your books and we will look the other way if you, 1) Placate the Jesse Jacksons of the world by giving loans to jobless people and 2) Heavily donate to our campaign. Do not overlook the words of Rahm 'dead fish' Emanuel, "never let a good crisis go to waste". They wanted this to happen to gain total power over everything. They fully believe the ends justify the means. They think the masses are too dumb to figure it out, and are quick to destroy (by any means possible) those who see through them. Welcome America, to the world of Chicago Politics!

  42. Well said patriot ive always said when ive argued with a liberal that cons. can think for themselves we dont need talking points or a piece of paper telling us how to feel or what to say, the rubes are the ones that bought into the change mantra during the campaign and dont be mistaken there were voters on the right that bought in also , we have a fight ahead of us to keep the govt. out of our lives the republican party needs to get back to its core beliefs and fight for them like ronald reagan did , this administration has waged war on the constitution and capitalism which is what has made this the greatest country in the world.

  43. robert685 says:

Maybe we limit the action…say, write it in law giving the FDIC (independent organization), not Treasury special financial crisis powers written very specifically for the situation we're in, and making the powers very temporary (6 months). This kind of thing happened during the Great Depression setting up the HOLC program (Gov bought a bunch of home loans, and managed them till maturity, then shut down the program).
Check out Nouriel Roubini. He is an independent economist (Professor at NYU) that completely and perfectly called this crisis since I've followed him (I've been following him for about 3 years now). I wished I would have listened to him cause I would have saved alot of money in the market. http://www.rgemonitor.com/blog/roubini/

  44. robert685 says:

I don't completely disagree with Geithner's plan. There are legitimate reasons we don't want these institutions going bankrupt, net: it will cost the taxpayer more money. Problem: We are in a situation similar to Japan in the 90s where we have institutions that are effectively insolvent (banks, Hedge funds, and maybe a broker dealer or two). These institutions will not appear to be insolvent until they sell some of these "assets" on their books. The economy will not get better until these companies are "worked out". That's where somebody will have to go in, take a deep dive into a lot of organization's books, figure out which ones are still solvent, and the ones that aren't you go in, spin them down, and sell off their assets. That will save American tax dollars in the long run. How do we do it to avoid a huge precedent in Government control?

    • donttrod says:

They should have gone bankrupt, my God it would have been cheaper, messy yes, but now look at where we are at. Government has no business in the private sector. We the little taxpayer are buying their bad assets. You are missing the smoke and mirror act.

I have already written to my OH Senators and Representatives telling them of my feelings of just how terrible this idea is, but EVERYONE needs to do the same thing so all our Congressional people, elected by the people, actually hear us and PAY ATTENTION and do the right thing.

    Geithner Needs Adult Supervision
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner nearly struck out Wednesday morning despite multiple opportunities to defend the dollar. Geithner’s narrowly averted gaffe was sadly typical, given the greenback’s shabby treatment these days.

While addressing a jam-packed meeting of the Council on Foreign Relations, Geithner answered Standard Chartered Bank’s Doug Smith who wanted the secretary’s thoughts on “the Chinese government proposal about a global currency.” People’s Bank of China governor Zhao Xiaochuan would shift Earth’s reserve currency from the dollar to “Special Drawing Rights” (SDR), combining the dollar, Britain’s pound, Japan’s yen, and the euro. Call it the international “globo.”

Third, they don’t understand that we would not be separated but bound together by our beliefs. Fourth, they believe in their hearts that we are ignorant rubes lacking the vision that they so covet. Fifth, they really don’t think, they feel where as we think first then feel.

I'm tired of these jack*ss's who got their positions by being the most ruthless immoral dogs in the pack telling us what's best of us. Where were the Congressmen, Senators and Presidents (present and past), when it was known that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were on the brink 4 or 5 years ago? Where were they when they first noticed the Postal Service was in trouble? When did they notice that Amtrack was operating in the red? To anyone who thinks larger Government works so well: why is California broke? Why is the U.S. government broke? Entitlement programs to the many non-productive residents of that state and our country caused that.
When "A" (the government) takes from "B" (the worker) and gives it to "C" (the welfare recipient),
"B" will either want to become "A" the one taking the money, or "C" , the one recieving the money.

      • Angel68 says:

Yesterday after Glenn's show he had a live internet chat. He will be taking recommendations we make here and in 2 weeks will let us know what he thinks we should do. I am willing to wait that long.

      • (this is a bit long, but I sincerely hope worth the effort to read)

I've surfed around the site and read many MANY comments from people – and the predominant subject continues to be that we are venting, and debating important things, and sometimes typing to have our own words read. I agree with 'donttrod' and 'RJH' when it comes to both issues: we are just spinning our wheels with words, and we need a system of organization.

912 is the network with which we can construct such organization, but as I perused the site, I see that not everyone is on the same page. I firmly believe this is due to the fact that with this many people, there is invariably countless levels of historical knowledge or constitutional backgrounds and laws. Some know a lot about one topic or current event, others are cemented into the founding principles but don't take into account that principles are inanimate without us taking them upon our backs and getting to work.

I think the first step to taking the most efficient advantage of Mr. Beck's brilliant project, and the network he has constructed for us all, is to go beyond just agreeing on principles and values – those are the foundation. Now we need to build the house upon them. Do you hire a bunch of people with varying levels of building knowledge? I certainly hope not. Building anything that is substantial and sustainable, you hire the one company with the best knowledge and a singular focus. We need to become that company, together. We (this group of dedicated Americans) need to get on the same page.

I don't presume to know everything about anything – I am just a history teacher working in a juvie detention program – so I am no expert. I am, though, convinced that the variances of knowledge and experience need to be brought to equal levels. The best way to do this is through education. We're all adults, so we have the power to learn for ourselves, but I know that many people aren't able to run out to Borders or Barnes & Noble to buy a couple dozen books on these topics.

How do we all find the same page when we don't have the same home libraries or diplomas or access to information? The answer I see for this, is to build on this site, or on a satellite site, an Armory of Knowledge. On Glenn's show a little while ago this morning, Cong. Bachmann from MN said that the it is time for the people to arm themselves… not with weaponry, but knowledge. No army could succeed without having the same rules, the same equipment, or the same mindset and outlook. If we are to be the army that wins back our country, we need to arm ourselves with the knowledge that Mrs. Bachmann speaks of.

When I say Armory of Knowledge, I mean an online index of the actual hard information – not just reading lists. It would be a powerful, and fully stocked file cabinet of data. Instead of recommendations, it would have the hard contents of many different sources from Thomas Paine to Lincoln and on and on. All the information would be sifted through, percolated, and run through the sieve of relevance to insure that the Armory is filled with only the best weapons for the job.. If this were possible, I know we could all find that same page, then draw down our Wish-list for America to a core group of intentions that everyone would be able to nod their heads and say, "Now let's go do it!"

It doesn't take much to conclude that they will decide that any business that doesn't do what they want will be deemed a threat. Tie this to the G.I.V.E. act, which is another step toward indoctrination of the young. One more piece is the tax on charitable giving, crushing private charity, leaving people no where to turn for help but the government. I know it sounds nuts, even I don't want to believe it. But there is too much "coincidence' piling up here. Even if it isn't intended for this purpose it makes it far easier to slip into Fascism, which is reason enough to say no.

The Democratic controlled Congress under President Bush refused more oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac and look where their wisdom got us. Now we have Mr. Geithner, who himself doesn't completely understand our financial system (failed to pay taxes), and now he and Mr. Obama want more control over banking and bank-related companies! The Obama administration believes it is necessary to remake our capitalistic and Constitutional government by having more control. These tactics put me in mind of the charismatic and controlling tactics of the Hitler "administration". I am fearful and angered by the silence of the Republicans. Where are they? Where are the law suits defending our Constitution?

But while we are looking at banks and other quasi-financial institutions, don't forget about Health Care Companies, Defense Companies, Utilities, etc.

Thanks for being here all. I am off to bed. I work long hours – FOR MYSELF! I refuse to participate in this Depression. We are Americans, and as Individuals, we create our own destiny.

  71. Cliff_brown says:

Even if the rule changes were good(and they are not) you still cannot change the rules of the game once the game is under way. If he were a good treasury secretary (and he is not) he would study the causes of the great depression and the things that made it worse.

FDR would "try something." Business would start to respond but not fast enough for FDR so he would "try something else." Very soon the few folks who still had money put in under a mattress, because they knew that as soon as the money started turning a profit the rules would change and they would lose their investments.

"It's not radical. . ." Geither began, before Manzullo interrupted him.

Tim Geithner is a common criminal. It was indeed a sad day when he was confirmed as treasury secretary. Now the man is trying to grab more power than any politician ever has. For one individual to have the authority to say that a business in the private sector is good or bad, determining how much money people are allowed to make is not how this country was founded. This is just another step on the road to this becoming a socialistic society. The government has absolutely no business trying to run the private sector.

  89. JRockSci says:

Just look at how well the government runs business. The US Postal Service, AMTRAK, Freddie, Fanny and now AIG. They have a pretty good record at keeping failed business going, but still failures.

  90. NWmitch says:

Is the government suggesting in exchange for ensuring that no business fails, and that they will step in and manage it as they see fit? Failures are a natural occurance in business. Bankruptcy laws are in place to 'manage' the situation. Giving (who's giving – they're grabbing) the government new sweeping powers is a giant mistake. Monitoring and enforcement of existing rules is necessary BEFORE new laws are established.

  100. I know it's just a beginning, and I don't house any illusions that my idea would catapult the movement into international consciousness. I just think it would be a very effective tool for those of us here to find a level and common ground to start from because if you read as many of these messages as you can on here, you will start to see that even though the vast majority of members agree more or less on the principles and values.

Beyond that, there are so many drastic differences of viewpoint due to wide discrepancies in education in general, as well as on specific topics involved in our mission. I just posed the concept to spark some consideration about how to further homogenize our intentions with the Project. Does that make any sense?

  101. SO IS THE FACE OF OBAMA,,REMEMBER HOW ALIVE HE LOOKED AT START OF TRIP TO BE PRESIDENT,NOW LOOKS TWENTY YEARS OLDER, SECURITY BRIEFS AND GOOD PEOPLE CATCHING ON TO HIS LIES,HE IS A THIEF AND LIAR,

  102. I hate to say this but my senator, Senator Enzi chummed up with Senator Kennedy to pass the Service Act. Please write, email, fax and call..let him know how unhappy you are..I did!!!!!!

Look….I think most of us would agree that our current system is broken. The question is, why? I think it is broken because of the pervasiveness and power of the two party system. At its conception the founders envisioned a system where the elected officials were held accountable by their constituency. Nowadays that is no longer the case. Now, representatives are ultimately held accountable by their party. We can write letters to our representatives until we get carpel tunnel syndrome but it is essentially meaningless because it is the party that gets someone elected. Without the backing and financial support of a party you will fail. The numbers bare this out. What percentage of independents actually get elected? So while a representative might read your letter and even agree with you, his/her party is ultimately going to decide how they vote. They all know that if they go against their party too often they will soon be watching from the sidelines and how can they do anything for anybody if they aren't in office. Hence, 'the ends justify the means'. So the question now becomes how do we get the elected officials to listen to the people. I personally think that a watchdog group on a massive scale would be a good way to start. With a website like 912 and a national voice like Mr. Beck we can start calling elected officials out by name. We can let them know that regardless of party affiliation, if they act against the constitution that we will use every means necessary to keep them from getting reelected. Use the website to post information, reading lists, voting records, local perspectives on isssues, and recruit other voters to the cause. As it grows the voice becomes louder and if it gets loud enough we might actually make it back to what the founders intended it to be. Elected officials that have to act in the peoples best interest or face the consequences. Regardless, we have to stop thinking in terms of Democrat and Rebublican. That only serves to exacerbate the problem. Let's start a new party based on the PRINCIPLES of the constitution. The Constitutional Party! Sorry for being long winded. It's my first post and apparently I had a lot to say. Hope some of it made sense :)

It's broken because we as a nation were not vigilant and we did not do our individual parts in guarding liberty. Sloth got us all. I learned in AA that in order to understand, face and conquer a problem, you have to own it. Own it 100% with no excuses. Only then can we make different decisions to change our lives. Until every person here takes responsibility for the problems, we are going to get nowhere. Yes, every person here is no doubt a good person but sometimes, by doing nothing, we are committing a sin. That we have done nothing is what got us here. Let's own it and move forward with vigilance from this point forward. Vigilance and newfound passion for what we must do!
