I have yet to hear anyone in the mainstream media talking about this Cap & Trade in a negative light. This is a disaster waiting to happen if this passes the halls of Congress. Enough is enough and it is high time the people of this country make a statement to the President, the House and the Senate that we will no longer stand by and see our taxes and our hard earned money taken from us to support their lifestyles and their cronies. Stand up and be counted and challenge your senators and representatives. Contact them and tell them NO WAY on Cap & Trade.
First of all 32,000 scientists and 9,200 phd's say that man made global warming is a fraud and junk science and I am one of them. I have sent emails to my senator and congressman and got no response which means they have an agenda and it has nothing to do with man made global warming. People better wake up because this will be the straw that breaks the camels back in favor of facistism in america. This cap and trade will cost all of you out there at least $1,500.00/household in electric bills. Obama, Pelosi, Reid are steaming forward to have a communist state and your congressmen and senators are on the boat.. Senate Bill 2433 will put us under the United Nation Laws. Instead of having tea parties we should have a tar and feathering in washington d.c. and then run all of them out of town and have new elections.
We just finished a weekend event where the whole WORLD was urged to turn off their lights. Today, GM shows a new all electric Buick. Turn off the lights and plug in the cars? What happened to Drill Here/Drill Now?
It seems the liberal democrats are not willing to allow any drilling in the areas where we know there is oil. Ocean, Alaska, etc. When did we the people decide to lay down and let these vultures do what they want? I think there needs to be a house and senate cleaning. Throw them all out and start over with a four year term limit. Let's see how many millionaires would then be willing to serve our country. They only want to be there for the power and all the perks that go along with the job. Let's elect people who don't have to spend millions of dollars to get a $200,000 job and retirement for life with the best medical care you can get. As far as cap and trade goes, that's just a way for the Al Gore's of the nation to get richer and the rest of us to pay the higher ($3,000 or more) a year in energy costs. First of all, there is no global warming. It's just another scheme. We do need to drill baby drill. Maybe someday when the eco nuts are put in their place.
Look at things to come. Last summer, when gas prices were outrageous, my electric company added an "energy fee" to our electric bill. Then in October the rates were raised 20%. My February electric bill was $700.
Everyones electric bill is about 150% higher. I live in the south and it's not usually very cold here. There was an article in the local newspaper saying that people can't afford those rates. The electric companies response was, "We have bills to pay, too."
If cap and tax (everyone to death) goes through there will be some very cold people in winter and stiffling hot summers. We can't afford Obama.
Must be a misprint. Obama's position is actually cap ON trade, not cap and trade.
I cannot tell you how happy I was at the response from my orignal post. After viewing Glenn's show Friday night, my wife and I decided we needed to take his advice about what he said.
We need to march on Washington, my fellow Patriots! We need to do this now instead of later. If we wait much longer, I'm afraid that we will not get the opportunities to have our voices heard on the steps of the Capital, and in front of the gates of the White House. It is time to get ACTIVE!
We need to do something to stop what is happening in Washington, their agenda that they are passing is going to alter America as we know it, and alter the American Dream.
The original date we thought about doing this was going to be April 15th, but after thinking about it overnight, we decided to change the date to April 30th. We changed the date for a couple of reasons. Our original thought was to have this march in place of the various Tea Parties around the nation, and now we realize this would be a huge mistake on our part. These are already set up, and they need to happen. We can get our word out at these gatherings, and let people know what we are planning. We also need more time to mobilize the groups of people who want to make it to the march.
The response we received from our posts yesterday were phenomenal! We have received over a hundred emails and responses. Please keep them coming.
We received an email from a person last night who has already set up a web site for us to organize this historical event. It will be up and running hopefully late Monday, or sometime Tuesday. I will let everyone know when it is up and running.

When he first said this, I really thought it would give his campaign a run for its money. How sorely mistaken I was. The sad part is that when all of our electricity bills (and other bills as companies pass their increased costs on to us) go up, the blame will be put on the greedy companies. The average person does not understand that companies pass all increased costs on to us. This video needs to be shared, and we need to make ti clear to Americans that it is the policies of this President that have caused the increased costs, not the companies.
Ideally, Cap and Trade dies now before it can do irreparable harm.

to make this simple it appears to me that "they" tell you that we will help you to stand up and walk and then cut off one leg to help pay for the cost of treatment. The articiles I have read here in TX say that wind can only generate 3% of our electric grid. Solar, cost big bucks and still wouldn't reach and 30– 50% ( I think even those numbers are high) reducatioin in energy. At the very best we would/ could pay millions of dollars getting this going, paying even more $$ to build a grid to get the electricty to major towns. And they would be first, while the small town Americans are paying more for a service they don't even get. All the while still paying more for natural gas and coal powered plants. After all like the Pres said it would increase our cost. I've already paid up to 18 cent per kwh here in TX. Reminds me of how much blood can you get out of a turnip. I'm retired and how am I suppose to be able to pay for all these plans.

Global Warming yeah tell that to an Alaskan. Last week we had temperatures as low as -10 well below the average for this time of year. Average temperature for my hometown in March is 14F although in 1931 it was 56F and 1971 it was -44F. So we must have been spewing record amount of greenhouse gases for a decade or two before 1931 then cleaned up our act in the 50's and 60's.
There is more polar ice than has been recorded in 26 years. Nobody tells us that. Don't know if anyone has posted about the current volcano activity in Alaska. Mt. Redoubt in on the western shore of Cook Inlet has erupted 8 or more times in the last 3 days. Now I am no vulcanoligist but from what I understand from the gases volcanoes release during an irruption, that currently Mt. Redoubt has spewed more greenhouse gases into the air in the last 72 hours than the world's populous has since the industrial revolution. How is Obama going to cap that! Tax God?

They want it so the elitists have another way to trade (make money) on cap and trade…..It's called the Chicago Climate exchange. He doesn't — it is a scheme to control energy so that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer — he is out to control EVERYTHIG in this nation — businesses,(banks & other financial instutions), small business, the internet, the media, (TV & newspapers that are not in the tank for him now), all workers (union & nonunion alike – his "thanks or your supporf"), farmers, home gardeners — anyone and anything that makes money!
I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, but even I don't buy it. Having said that, I must also state that we as Americans, as humans, could certainly do better on keeping the sand box clean. Recycling and reduction of pollutants in our environment is just the right thing to do. Don't poo where you eat, ya know? However, I am, like most of you a capitalist pig. ;o) Cap and Trade is the ultimate capitalist system crusher and seems to me that it's much more effective to incentivize industry to reduce the "offending" emissions. Does it not make more sense to have a rich schedule of tax cuts for polluting businesses that take steps to use available and emerging technologies to reduce their emissions and waste products rather than imposing high costs for “credits”? In this time of global economic turmoil, proposing legislation that could drastically increase costs for business and consumers seems diametrically opposed to President Obama’s many speeches about job creation and economic stabilization. Cap and Trade is nothing but another power grab. Businesses that don't or can't comply will have Geitner swooping in to take them over and "fix it".
I guarantee you that Al Gore and his global warming cronies are well positioned to reap tremendous financial rewards for proposals like this one. Follow the money.
Any trading firm is positioned to capitalize from this. It creates a new trading segment that we had setup 8 months ago then it was stripped overnight. Anyone who currently has high emissions will only hedge their emission tokens and reduce their costs. No company with half a brain on their trading floor is going to take a hit from this.
A significant portion of this Cap and Trade Bill is what Bill Clinton and Al Gore tried to do in the 90s and they referred to it as a BTU tax which amounts to nothing more than an energy tax. This measure was defeated by a wide margin then. Today, try to imagine anyone who in the US who has a power meter getting a brand new tax when Mr. Obama paints himself as the President of the poor. This is hypocrisy at a new high, in my view. For those in the Senate and Congress who exercise poor judgment by voting for this lemon, my guess is they will be looking for new employment after the 2010 midterm election.

I would like to add that we need some Tea Parties in New York's 20th Congressional District. There will be a special election to fill the seat of Kirsten Gillibrand who succeeded Hillary Clinton in the Senate on March 31st. The race is statistically tied as one poll reports. Republicans need to win this seat and send President Obama a clear message that his radical policies are out of touch with mainstream America.

Energy independence is a myth! The frenzy over becoming green is just a way for the government to put more money in certain peoples' pockets so they can in turn contribute to campaign funds. Obama doesn't have a clue – changing lightbulbs is not going to save the whole damn world! Wake up America – this is another time when politicians are underestimating our intelligence. They say all these feel-good things about saving the Earth, and they think that we will never bother to look at the scientific facts so we cannot challenge them. Here's a fact – even if every gallon of car fuel was replaced by some other source, we would still be importing oil because it is used for so many other things.
I encourage everyone to read Gusher of Lies – it is a very well researched book about energy independence, and it really puts everything in perspective.
Government believes that they are the answer to solving every problem, even when the problems are created by the same government officials. (Can anyone say Barney Franks). This Cap and Trade policy is just another scheme that the government created to tax the people and give them greater control of our individual lives.

I don't know if I understand cap-and-trade correctly. This is what I think I understand: the government passes anti-"greenhouse gas" laws BUT if a company wants more leeway on the laws, they can pay the government and get permission to go ahead and produce the gases. Is that right? It sounds like the old school Catholic notion (not done anymore, I understand) of buying indulgences.

Maybe I'm crazy but here's a suggestion to decrease carbon emmissions. Plant more trees. Don't tree absorb carbon dioxide and emit oxygen? This is just a scam to make a select group rich on us. I'll be if you dug down a bit, you'd find out that Al Gore is heavily invested in this garbage. Obama was on the board that formed the Carbon Exchange in Illinois. Can you say conflict of interest? This bull has got to stop.
It makes me sick to even think about what our nations leader thinks about the coal industry. I have worked in the deep mines of Eastern KY for all 4 years of my working career. My brother-in-law has for all of his, my father has for 28 years of his, his father, and his father, also his father worked in this industry. It has fed my family through many hard times, but with this evil, desevor in comand I just wonder how much longer my family as well as my comunity can depend on COAL!! God help us all..
Here's the thing about coal – there was a documentary done in response to Algore's Inconvenient Truth (I can't think what it was called) that talked about these highly-touted "green" lightbulbs we're all supposed to be using now – you know, the ones that cost 3 times as much as your average planet-destroying 60 watt. These energy-efficent lightbulbs are made in China. In China they use coal-powered factories. SO….isn't the production of these "clean" lightbulbs just causing more coal emissions?
And let's not even talk about the mercury content in these lightbulbs. If you break one, the box suggests you leave your home and call a hazmat team to come clean it up! Ack!

We do not need "Cap and Trade"! We need more nuculear power plants being built right now, under the stimulus spending. This needs to be combined with "Drill here,Drill now", coal, wind and solar. However, we do not need the wind and solar energy at the expense of compromising our ready access to carbon based energy and nuculear power. This can be accomplished right now: safely, efficiently, with long term benefits for energy independence and true debt reduction. It would also provide an excellent side benefit; affordable energy, from private industries which have already proven they can deliver the goods!!!!

After our utility prices are forced through the roof, they will take over our utilities and govern usage. This coupled with the powers Geithner was asking for yesterday to allow fed takeovers of any companies "in trouble" will lead to eventual government takeover of free enterprise. Local energy prices are already going up here in southern Illinois. Some estimates are up to 50 % increase in electric rates soon. This policy of Obama's could not come at a worse time for the average American. Not to mention that we are carbon-rich in this area with vast reserves of coal, which only adds insult to injury for those employed in these technologies and those of us who depend on the power created by it.

The other day, I called the Electric Co. to lock in a kw/hr rate for the next year, and I asked them about Cap and Trade. To my surprise, they had absolutely no clue. I informed them that it was going to cause the cost of electricity to go up, and in many cases as much as $50 to $100 per month per household…..and that they could thank this administration and Congress for that increase. America is hurting right now. We don't need another tax that will just be passed on to the consumers. SAY NO TO CAP AND TRADE! TELL CONGRESS NOW! A few weeks ago, Glenn had Ben Stein as a guest, and he said something about a mini wall street being set up in Chicago to trade on Cap and Trade. Does anyone know anything about this? After a couple of days of research on the topic, I have found this what Obama seeks to accomplich with the cap and trade initative is nothing more than a money grap. We are the only industrialized nation not to ratify the Kyoto Protocal, and with good reason. China and India are exempted due to being developing nations, and we would be placed at a global disadvantage is we enter into the binding agreement. Too boot, the goverment would charge for allowance permits, generating over $80 billion in additional revenue for the those who say they are saving us from ourselves. Who would really pay for the cost of CO2 reduction……you got…….go look in the mirror. I could ramble for days on the topic, but my suggestion to Obama is that he do some research and not make statements on national television that are inaccurate regaring Cap and Trade. By that…..I mean the one where he linked energy independance to C and T. That's not what it's all about. It's is about reducing green house gases…..but I'm sure his teleprompter just missed that small FACT. I'm done now.

Who's going to buy a new car now??? Our president said we need incentive to find an alternative energy sourse. So what will that be?? We have a new child coming into our familly and I need bigger car because our back seat is to small for two carseats. But I'm not going to buy a car if I cant be certain that I can fuel it up. Also I need to put $2000 in our old diesel pickup that I use for work but I don't know if it will be worth it.
I guess my point is that I dont think I'm the only one having doubts about how the future is going to be. Wont this have an adverse affect on Detroit??
This is one of the worst idea's in our history, And its being brought up at the worst possible point in our history.
First of all there is no alternative at this time to go to if you cant afford this tax. So what is the incentive??
This is going to raise the cost of everything. There is not one part of our economy that will not be affected. Thats what we need right now right??
The scary thing is how many people believe it! I was just checking out the "ask the President a question"-thing that the President talked about last night…it's no wonder this country is going down the tubes. The questions shed TONS of light on where we've gone astray. People are unbelievably naive and just looking for something from the government to fix their problems for them…and they buy "global warming" hook, line, and sinker and now they want to know how the government if going to "make" them jobs in new "green" industries. Good point and important to remember what others are thinking. It's for this reason that I can't talk politics with anyone I know, they act like I'm torturing children and mentally impaired because I believe we should uphold our laws. I'm so glad to find a site like this where I don't feel like an outsider. And I'll take my sign to the street corner so that others can see it's ok to believe in the Constitution.
Of course they post the comments from the naive people! I'm sure you'd be surprised at the number of good, hard questions never get posted. The American people are not stupid.
Green is the new Red. This isn't about the environment, or the economy. This is about government control over yet another industry.
With cap-and-trade, we're going to be wasting money on a problem that doesn't even exist; am I right so far? Because this really doesn't make any sense.
thats the beauty of his plan, they create a problem that does not exist because they most likely already have the solution to the problem they created… both the problem and solution will cost us money somehow, and somehow he has more money for welfare and illegals…. at our expense of course.

Man made glabal warming is a bunch of crap. It's a lie. Nothing we do is going to effect the climate the way these people are talking about.

This is what happend when we allow tree huging, dirt worshiping heathens to have any say about our energy policy. These people are to be exposed for what they are and totally ignored, it's not about climate change it's about power and control exercised by democrats/liberals/socialist, there all the same. I detest them all.
Check out a little company called GE. Yes thats right check out General Electric & see just how they seem to be in line to make trillions off this carbon crap that the Dems are spreading. Global Warming my butt. But if we do have global warming how about we use some insulating foam (expanding type) & use it on the majority of our politician. This would stop alot of the global warming or then again may be it will only stop the BS.
