I think that the city may have the right idea on this one. These security guards should only be responsible for the small, everyday nonsense that the police officers have to deal with. However, before they are simply hired to take over these tasks they should have to go through a thorough training program to make sure they are up for the job. They certainly should not take the place of police officers for serious crimes. Police officers go through a specialized training that grants them the right to do their job. Security guards should definitely have less power than a police officer.
Anybody ever hear of Stasi? That was the Secret State Security in East Germany, like a junior KGB, I lived in Germany and I visited the former East Germany, just after the wall came down. Myself and a few buddies made jokes, and it scared the locals to death! Even though Stasi was gone, our Stasi jokes frightened them.
My point being, what would stop Obama from starting his own "secret" police?
We also have to figure in the liability insurance. Let's face it, governments are really great at liability insurance.
Nothing warms my heart more thant the idea of a jungle ambush in Nancy Pelosi's vegetable garden.
This is an easy fix. Standardize training. In my town, the police certification course can be taken by anyone with the interest as long as they have 60 college credits, pass backround checks and psche evals, there are physical reqs too.. It covers the scope of police work from A to Z. For $2,800. It is required by all local depts, but not all who take it become cops. Some become prison guards or what have you.
Perhaps the real issue is that if a HOSIERY store was robbed 14 times last year, then the city and state should allow law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons.
Not to mention the amount of times that police officers make serious judgment errors on things like privacy and unreasonable search and seizure, can you imagine having a less-trained force? How are the citizens supposed to know that a security guard hired by the city doesn't have a right to do a search and seizure?
And then there's the issue of impostors. Seems as if it'd be much easier to impostor a city security guard than a police officer. We are talking about Chicago.
You know as long as they are not from acorn or soon to be the SS police and they are't being put in place to take our right to bear arms or any other liberty fine. but my gut oh my gut I hope it is wrong.
To smileycyrus: what we want, conservative, liberatarian, however we identify ourselves is that our government lead according to the founding documents. The Constitution has been more than effective for well over two hundred years, and now OUR GOVERNMENT is systematically destroying it and replacing it with what? A system that has proven unworkable as many times as its been tried. We need to be together on this smiley… if you are just going to post snide unreasonable comments its just not helpful. We cannot continue to spend money we don't have anymore than you could at your own home. When you have a tight spot financially at home, do you go out and spend next years salary or do you tighten things down and weather the storm. And he's very well off now, I can tell you.
this is an extreme and actually kind of irresponsible example but it shows that you can spend your way OUT OF DEBT if you do it right, and clamping down on spending is just going to starve us all–
you realize there are tent cities popping up everywhere, as bad as the 'hoovervilles' of old.
If you employ those people, using credit, to dig holes and fill them again so to speak, they will have BUYING POWER. they will be able to feed their families, get loans and grants and start new businesses.

This may not be a bad thing. Privatization could lead to increased performance like it does in most industries. It could also be a way around the police unions.
Of course, this is Chicago so I'm certain there's another less noble reason.

Also RR Police only patrol rail roads, not entire cities. And if law enforcement is needed they call for law enforcement.
Also there are other reasons why Private Police are not real Police. One Is they are too old or young and do not meet the requirements yet. Two Is they can not be hired for several reasons such as unable to pass physical or written test, failed psychological test (to see if one is crazy) lied on polygraph test, failed integrity interview or committed a felony or used illegal narcotics!

I would like to have a concise timeline laid out with the agendas that were proposed and the agendas that get passed, a comparison of what he has lied about in his campaigns and how it really has been translated into exeutive orders that he and his administration are steam rolling through; so that we as 9/12'ers can have knowledge firepower when we have to combat the liberal left wingers in the streets, in debates, in city councils, in county commissions, and on capitol hill. We need "Common Sense Propaganda"; printable graphs, timelines, documents, pdf's what ever we can use for the fight. I will not stand for Cap-And-Trades, and I will not make my (disabled) child go to any brain-washing youth service camp. I HAVE HAD IT and the fight is coming!!!!!

Can you please start a talking points section on the912project.com website that has an "Obama Comparison" chart. Maybe you could have timelines and quotes with what he has said about agendas in the past, and what his prompters say in the present. I want the info for what he has gotten passed in the public light, and what he has gotten passed behind closed doors, and what he silently getting passed, and how he has decieved the rest of America.
I agree. Some sort of time line with brief explanations. I watch the news often and I am losing track of his sweeping agenda and just what has been spent where. I guess that might be part of the plan…..confuse, divide, and conquer.

If Chicago is the experiment the rest of the nation is going to eventually face, then I do believe we are in for an awful time. I have little to no trust for the lawmakers in Chicago. And reading the Wikipedia entry about Mayor Daley makes me feel really sick. Most of the Executive Orders being pushed through, sound a lot like the reforms and changes that have happened in Chicago under Mayor Daley. Seeing that Mayor Daley's family has such involvement in politics is just downright scary. But please look it up yourself…

I just have to say… if our citizens are not allowed to follow the Second Amendment the way we feel we should be allowed to, why not have a private police force? I believe that XE would be a great candidate for the job. I'll gladly pay for those guys to be protecting our streets any day. They are more professional and better trained than the police force, and they have proven their love for our country by being former soldiers, they also have less casualties than the military or police force and a higher kill ratio on those who are committing crimes. Plus, they did an amazing job in New Orleans after Katrina.
And please don't anyone bring up Nisoor Square, incidents happen, just remember how our government dropped nukes on the innocent people in Japan, or the mistakes the military makes killing numerous non-combatants and we never hear about it, and they are never held accountable for it.

Private Police may start in Malls and Banks, then end up in small communities, then cities, then maybe an entire county or state, and possibly maybe the entire country. You are also right, but there is a Big difference on what you say and what Obama may want, or what Chicago may want to do. There is a place for private police, and that is malls, stores, business, banks and so on.
But not all privet police go through a police academy and not all are POST certified. Most Cops are restricted from have a second job like security and Private Police because security jobs and Private Police jobs are bias for the people or company they are work for and there client. Police/Sheriff can not be bias; they serve everybody in the community, even if one is or was a criminal at one point or another. It is a conflict of interest for Police/Sheriff. Police/Sheriff is required to be Just. Also Private Police are not on a public recorded like Law Enforcement, LE can only make something restricted if it is court ordered or if it is required by law.
It might be a great improvement over the 'cops and/or robbers" game they play there now. I was sixteen before I found out that the city of Chicago also paid the police. I thought they were paid strictly with what they could shake down.
Actually this sounds alot like what we have here in NYC- been around since the 1950's after Congress passed The Civil Defense Act of 1950. They are basically unpaid Auxiliary Police Officers that patrol different neighborhoods, the subway, Times Square ect ect they look like cops– you have to look very close because the patch they wear on their uniforms is very similar to that on paid cop's uniforms- only difference is the word Auxilary

If things are going in the same direction that they are now, then the next several years are going to be very hard. Of course in order to use it as such we may hasten the activity I am warning about. The U.S Constitution is a direct obstacle/ceiling which prevents the government from taking all necessary steps to increase Fiat currency value. It is clear to me the importance to them for which they have labeled the Constitution a "Living Constitution." Living things evolve, in their sense of this application the Constitution evolves. OMG! Thank you!!! I have been saying that forever. And it works too because crime goes down when people are aloud to have weapons and a CCW permit. And if it was so bad to carry a conceal weapon then you would think Law Enforcement would say something, but most officers to my knowledge support a CCW!
But when it comes down to it, a Cop is a citizen, not military. So when Obama says he wants a citizen military/police or some type of force, well that is the Police/Sheriff. They are citizens serving their community and their country. The difference between what Obama wants and what we have is whom the force serves. We have a force (Police/Sheriff) that server the citizens, and the community. What Obama wants is a force that serves Him (and/or whom ever he is working for).
If we end up with some type of privet force and less or no police/sheriff, then we the citizens have no true law enforcement that protects and serves the community. We would have a force that only protects and serves The Führer (Obama) and enforces his rules and regulations on us, The People, not the criminals.
Yes- and that's why attorneys really go after CCW/CPL holders who use a weapon in defense or to deter a crime. They don't want us to be independent, informed, and armed.

I just want to say I am not an Obama fan. But before any one jumps the gun!! This may just be a cost saving matter. It cost around $50.00 to $90.00 and hour to hire and off-duty Police Officer. Private Police Officers cost $20.00 to $35.00 and hour, and there state certifyed Law Enforcement (that means thay go to the police academy like all policemen do) Private Police have been around since the founding of our country. All Rail-Road police are Private Police Officers,In fact the R.R. Police are the largest Private Police Agency in the United States. So do'nt go freaking out over this..

If these security guards want to be policemen- why aren't they? The pay and benefits are better, and they would dang sure get more respect. I'm guessing there is something in their past, or maybe their personality that isn't conducive to law enforcement. It shows you what their city council thinks of the police there. Don't cheapen the badge- let the cops be the cops.
Let's not paint with too broad a brush. Some working in security are former military, professionals between jobs and some do it for a second income. Some also can not pass police phyicals or even waiting for an opening in the force. In most states they have police background checks. Are there some bad ones, but isn't that society in general. By the way, I worked armed security when I was between jobs. I'm a degreed chemist and a geologist after 14 yrs in the Corps (Honorable Discharge). I guess there is something in my background?

Since people may not believe that, I hope Glenn's team can do some research into it. That's all we need is even a small percentage of security guards with unpredictable psychotic behavior, off their meds, having this kind of power.

Geez, my thought EXACLTY. I am a little worried about the POTUS. He looked a little more cyanotic than usual, and the obvious mood swings are a little un-nerving. Many years ago I was a police officer in the Village of Crestwood. The hammer and sickle should have been the department emblem where the dictoral mayor employeed part-time police officers that out populated the full-time, fully trained and state certified officer staff. It sounds like things have not changed in Illionis.
Police forces will be a thing of the past soon. Soon Obama will use the citizens army to control cities. People will be assigned a certain amount of people to watch over. If they are not pulling their weight, they will be repremended. The more times in violation, the harsher the penalty. People will be seperated depending on a number of things. Those that can contribute and be productive. The elite members of society have us in a death grip. George Soros is in control of this country. He's pretty quiet since his guy won. That is when you must worry. People can pretend it isn't happening but Clinton, Bush, Obama, all working together behind the scene. They are all part of a strategic plan to bring down the economy and take over the world. America is no longer enough for them. History is definatly in progress, but not the history that the media tells us.

Security guards do not have training and experience that the real cops have. Either mix them, one rides with the other . Or put the security guards out as spotters and report. No arrest powers.
