The last thing Geithner needs is more power. Yesterday, he said that he would give consideration to a world currency. WHAT??????????????? No way should this be allowed to happen. It would mean the loss of our sovereignty as a country. This is dangerous territory. The government needs to butt out of the business world entirely and the people who run the businesses need to learn how to say NO loudly and clearly. We don't need or want to become a Banana Republic. These lunatics need to be stopped.

    • Ramscott says:

I figured it out for myself yesterday. They're trying to package this as a business-like approach to fixing the problem. Of course businesses need to borrow money as an investment in their future. Problem? Yes, because government is NOT a profitable entity. When has government turned a profit, or even been oriented toward such? Borrowing as an investment only works if you're motivated and oriented to turning things around and TRULY MAKING MONEY. Government is oriented toward SPENDING EVERY LAST DIME. He's so smooth, he makes me sick, because I know people are falling for this slick-sounding ploy. Help…

  2. quack784 says:

You are so right. This country has become a continental 'Titanic'. Complete distruction of seems to be their agenda. I was so shocked when Pelosi got placed into power after all the hate and discontent she caused in Calif, and look at the nightmare she is causing still. There might be a few people in government who may not like what obama/pelosi are doing, but they are too busy feasting at their power troughs to stand up for what is right.

How do we break thru the corruption to bring them all down? They have to go.

  3. shadowMN says:

Tea parties are a good start, but we need more. Glenn is doing an excellent job of bringing these issues to the forefront and considering the mainstream media are all essentially cheerleaders for this adminstration, we simply need to be bigger and louder. There is always power in numbers. Write letters to your congressmen… or any congressman would has raised your blood pressure. Do it every week or every day. Make your opinions known…. and when election day rolls around… speak loudly at the ballot box. Many of our republican congressmen are no longer conservatives… In fact, republican and conservative are no longer interchangable. So do your homework and be an informed voter. Speak out.

  4. shadowMN says:

The common thread throughout all of these posts is…(1) politicians don't believe they work for us and we must organize to show them that they do, indeed work for us. (2) America is not what they fight for…power is their ultimate goal (3) Obama and his (former clinton) crew are leading this country into total bankruptcy and long-term recession (4) Poiticians believe they are not accountable, even if they break the law or legislate laws that are obviously unconstituional (5) destroying the future for our children (and their children) is the price we must pay to insure Obama goes down in history as the great saviour…… and the beat goes on. The real question is… what are we (the taxpayers) going to do to stop these incompetent, power-hungry fools. Talk is cheap unless our numbers are sufficient to really get their attention.

  5. TDCobra says:

I have been searching through the Constitution to find where it says some flunky treasury secretary has any kind of power to start with. This guy is nothing more then another one of Obamas demigods. This guy must go. His mouth is bigger then his head & I'm worried he might swallow his head & hurt his darn fool self.

  6. Now get a load of this Theodor Roosevelt said:THE THING THAT WILL DESTROY AMERICA ARE PROSPERITY-AT-ANY-PRICE,PEACE-AT-ANY-PRICE,SELF FRIST IN STEAD OF DUTY-FRIST,THE LOVE OF SOFT LIVING AND THE GET RICH -QUICK-THEORY OF LIFE…………….self frist in stead of duty frist how about people frist in stead of party frist

    • Theodore Roosevelt also said :IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAKE OUR MATERIAL CONDITION BETTER BY THE BEST LAW BUT IT IS EASY ENOUGH TO RUIN IT BY BAD LAWS……… they been passen some bad laws of late

  7. rsexteriors says:

'I'm having a very good crisis,' says Soros as hedge fund managers make billions off recession

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article...

You want to know who is behind Obama and who is behind this global crisis then read the above article. He is the face of evil

He has made his fortune by devaluing countries currencies and making billions off of it.

  8. jwjcc1 says:

They dont have the power to take our rights unless we allow them to. Get involved and stand up, speak out and be heard. We as conservatives have been apathetic for far too long, however things are headed towards a "CHANGE".

  9. jowilchek says:

No vote because the judiciary committee referred it to the subcommittee (both committee and sub are chaired by John Conyers (D-MI) so it will probably die there, it is also in House Rules committee chaired by Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) doubt if it will see the light of day from that committee either. According to govtrack.us the majority of bills never make it out of committee. Last action on H.R.450 was Feb.09,2009. And I bet it will be the last action it ever gets. But like you I will write my represenative tomorrow (although he does not serve on any of these committees). But good work bringing this to our attention…

  10. TecumsehJr says:

The battle of wits has begun. We must continue to focus on the REAL target. Does anyone TRULY care what the latest gibberish the Govt distracter of the week has to say, when what they are DOING is what really matters. With great power comes greater responsibility. Our elected officials are charged with protecting the countries most treasured asset, OUR freedom. Power grabs for media control and financial control; and legislature to further erode the 1st and 2nd Amendments point to the opposite of freedom. That freedom is not their's to sell, but if we surrender it who has done the easy thing over the right thing then?

  11. GaFireman says:

Nationalized Health Care, rumors of a Nationalized bank system. Up next the media itself. Then every corporation down to the mom and pops. I'll be damned if I salute a sickle and hammer.

    • AuntieJ says:

I agree!!! With regard to Nationalized Health Care, which has been an abysmal failure in Europe and Canada (ask Liam Neeson who recently lost his beautiful wife while she was learning to ski in Montreal), people complain now when they go to the ER and have to wait 10 hours to be seen. As it is now, even people with NO health insurance are not turned away. With Nationalized Health Care, the government will decide if you are worthy of any care. Ever waited on an answer from a government agency? Many will die while waiting. This Treasury Sec, is scary…..more Socialist moves to control an even larger part of our country. I think all banks who received bail out money should return it NOW so they won't be beholding to the government. BTW government run schools (the public schools) are ANOTHER absymal failure….Please lets get together as a country and fight ALL forms of socialism!

  13. katseyes35 says:

have an Ideal back in the eighty we had hands across america for the aids epidemic how about tea bags across the nation, we buy tea bags and tie them together one after the other, and so on, if evey single one of us can do this we can string tea bags from sea to shinning sea. and on every single tea bags we can write what we hate on them. So how about it? what do you guys think?

  14. Unbelievable! One thing that I have discovered during my time on this earth is that if an idea or plan for solving a problem does not work for other similar problems, then the idea or plan is a bad thing. For the Fed to take control of a private enterprise amounts to communisim, period. If our country were at war, then it would be OK for the Fed to take control of all munitions manufacturing, to ensure the broader safety of the country. Or, if there is a bacterai scare with peanut butter lets say, then the Fed should take control of all peanut processing plants, for the safety of the people. Obviously, these two examples put forth would not work under a free nation. I agree with a previous comment; driving styles matter not…when the car is driving down the wrong road! TERM LIMITS for all in the House & Sentate! Let them think about living by the laws they write while they write them!………………The Dad

  15. Jared says:

Your right. I saw this on Beck and left the SEIU part out and i agree with you. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

  16. ForgottenGuy says:

Very sorry to say, but with the current congress and president this has ZERO chance of passing.

However, you can encourage your legislators to follow the example of Congresswoman Michelle Bachman when she grilled Geithner and Bernacke to cite specific passages of the Constitution that allowed for the powers they were requesting. It has been all over Fox news.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxTpBhLE11s

  17. Henry Lamb says:

We have to force government to get back to the Constitution. HR450 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRUBTUfPDLs> may be a way to do it. The Enumerated Powers Act requires that each bill introduced in Congress cite specific Constitutional Authority. We all need to ask our Congressmen to co-sponsor and vote for this bill, or explain – in writing- why they will not. Then we need to write letters to the editor of every newspaper in the district and either thank the Congressman for supporting the bill, or quoting the Congressman's explaination as to why he will not support it. We also need to report to the editors and talk shows the Congressmen who ignore our request. Glenn should report and list the Congressmen who have co-sponsored the bill. All the people involved in this site can force a genuine Constitutional Showdown,.

    • wooten says:

Thanks for the info on HR450. I immediately checked into the bill and wrote the following to my Congressman:

As one of your constituents, I am writing in order to express my support for the Enumerated Powers Act that was introduced to Congress in March of 2007. I can't understand why this bill was never put to a vote. As laws become more and more complicated, it is only right that the average person should be able to understand how the new laws tie into our constitution. Only government officials who wish to abuse their power by passing unconstitutional laws would not want this bill passed. If the representatives claim that this is not important enough to waste time on, they are dead wrong. This bill is what the American people are begging for – more accountability and explanations from government officials.

  18. yeoldeluke says:

I hate to say this but where are the lawsuits to challenge the executive branch in initiating spending. Only the legislative branch has the authority to spend, and here we have the treasury doing so much without constitutional authority. I may be wrong but that is my opinion.

  19. brettlynn says:

WE THE PEOPLE have had it with YOU THE GOVERNMENT!! You are nothing but a bunch of crooks on the take, in one way or another. You call youself "Public Servants". If so serve the public. If you are elected serve your term for free! No given retirment! No secret service protection. Maybe this would make you do a good & honorable job. Because once you leave office, you would be out in public with the people you are suppose to SERVE!

  20. cowlord9985 says:

There's an old saying I've heard of about why dumb critters can swim and many humans can't. Critters don't give up but humans panic and drown. Fear is indeed dangerous. Same concept as shouting FIRE! in a crowded stadium. Rock on,

  21. cowlord9985 says:

A little while before Obama was elected, I was making up a BS story about how he would turn our nation into a socialist mess while taking a walk with my sister. Now I wonder, is that story so rediculous? I tell stories that have sad endings all the time but this conspiracy story I think is true. You're not insane at all. I agree.

  22. Jackjr60 says:

I believe Geithner is pretty much Obama's Albert Speer . I've been trying to decide who the rest of the Obamassiah's top people remind me of from the Third Recih. Joe Biden perhaps is Obama's Joseph Goebbels.

  23. Treasury and Fed More Power…No Way!!! What about trying to buy our own debt by entering into the Bond market to buy the long end of the yeild curve? Well they started to try and do that today and the results are not so good.

How do "WE the People" fascilitate the removal of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd from the commitees they are on. We cannot impeach them unless we live in their districts, but it seems to me we may be able to make a strong public outcry for them to be removed from the financial mess we are in. Take away the one thing they prize the most "POWER"

    • rscbmr63 says:

I agree, I wish there was a way. These are the exact people who have caused all of this mess. It happened on their watch. Just the thought of making banks lend to people who don't have the means to pay it back is so insane it makes me crazy!!
I would love to hear ideas and thoughts on these two criminals.

  26. JRockSci says:

What we have to do is start the process to have the supreme court review. Taxing bonuses, more power to the SEC TRES to review this bills. Even a 12 year old can determine they are unconstituional. So the odds are about 75-25 that the supreme court will to.

  27. sure giethner had no idea about any of it this is the administration of denial(not a river in the middle east) Obama was a member of a radical church but never heard a single controversial statement,Was part of Chicago's corrupt government yet never saw any coruption, was friends with known dommestic terrorist Ayers but never heard him say anything un-american,signed a bill that allowed Aig executives to get bonusses aftera taxpayer bailout yet only found out about it recently and was appalled.Come on we will be calling each other Commrad soon if we dont speak up..
    god bless

  28. perfectunion says:

What I want to know is if Geithner was head of the Fed in New York when this whole bonus thing went down, and he claims he didnt know that it was happening…"no oversight was used" he said, then how come his fingers are all over the approval of the bonus loop hole although he states he didnt know about any of this until March 10th! Come on! Yeah. Let's just give the guy who doesnt have any idea what is going on more power to reach into companies. I think what we are going to end up seeing is a shortage of tea with all the tea parties.

  29. JackEwing says:

Power grabs is what this administration is all about. Can't we all recognize that by now?

    • JRockSci says:

Don't let the SEC TRES distract you. Remember there is also a move to have the 2010 Census "estimate of population" to be done by the White House. Not the Commerce Dept. that has to publish thier estimation formula.
Put on your night vision googles, you have to be able to see through the smoke screens.

  30. I would say this guy has a good grasp on Geitthner. I would urge everyone to read this entire article. I believe that he has solid solutions to the problems we are facing.

    • Angel68 says:

That was great! It reminds me of my children when they were little. They did the same things and I remember doing things like that too! As I said in another 912 column: " People with high IQs often don't have common practical sense. That is what OB is missing and now I believe Geitthner is also missing.

In addition to trying to grasp all the power they can, if Geitthner is given this power it will definitely go against the Constitution and that will be TREASON! Everybody here knows what happens to treasonists don't they?

  31. RobNRick says:

I have one more thing to add to this. Last night when Obama was asked by Major Garrett about China calling for a World Currency and doing away with the dollar, Obama said he did not agree with doing away with the dollar. Today However, Geithner was asked the same question about having a Global Currency ahead of the G20 and his response was "Well, We have to be open to discussion" I just heard that about 10 minutes ago on Fox. We cant let them get away with this ugly plan. I have been mailing letters & tea bags and will be going to our Tea Party on the 15th. God Bless us all.

  32. The end of econimic freedom, in today's world, is the end of freedom.

  33. BackTo1776 says:

Matt… thanks for the reply. I posted something else when my brain got unclogged after learning about the Obama Notre Dame thing. I almost became ill.

But I rallied and posted a "campaign to advance the tea party"… look for it. in this topic.

The strategy is to get the congressmen and senators to come to OUR meetings, but we must have a common agenda: a platform of grievances and alternative solutions. The way it is now, we think we are playing offense when all our congress does is ask questions of the people with the power: the treasury and the Fed.

First you create and rally around a common symbol: like a tea leaf. Then you have more tea parties. Get it out over the airwaves. Adopt a common phrase: not simply don't tread on me.

Check out the post and let me know what you think.

  34. Thomas Jefferson said it best.

I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground: That "all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States or to the people." To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition. – Thomas Jefferson

Peaceful surge of political protest is the way to change the course of our government. Still we must be mindful of all that the constitution both does and does not state. And more importantly, teach what the constitution actually says. Not the propaganda that our schools are teaching our kids. For example, until 3 years ago I thought the phrase "separation of church and state" was in the constitution. Because, that is what I was taught in school and now the liberal movement has been changing what is being taught to our kids. "History is written by the victors".

  35. mattpileggi says:

    New Addition!

9: Obama says in his press conference that we "need to start now" on Cap and Trade even though admits to it having major problems. (and has been on record pointing out the obvious hike in prices to the consumer)

Stop the insanity! "Delay is preferrable to error!" "It's not Ready..fire..aim!" Are there honestly people out there, besides the ones who will benefit from it financially, that are okay with this continually rushed approach to things?

  36. MaggieOz says:

The government having control over our companies to decide who is "big enough to fail" or more importantly, who is "not good enough to survive" is a scary thought. I wear my flag pin everyday now. One of today's highlights was to go into an office supply store and be complimented on my pin. Sometimes I feel like nobody else feels like I do and is as frightened of this "administration" as I am. That compliment gave me some faith today. Yet, I talked with a person earlier this week whom I consider to be an intelligent person. She was talking about executives making too much money. I was aghast at this comment. Obama has "charmed" so many people — just like Hitler did in pre-WWII Germany.

  37. mattpileggi says:

Can you post your other comment (about a new phrase and symbol) to Stand Up and Lead? It sounds like it might belong there more and would be easier to find hopefully (I wasn't able to find it in this thread)

  38. plowboy says:

FASCISM!!!!! This government is moving towards Fascism faster than the speed of light! The Democrats have been moving this country in that direction for years. They have been indoctrinating our children in the government schools for years. They have been taking us down the path to Fascism little by little for decades. Payroll withholding taxes so you don't complain about taxes and government spending, increases in government spending leading to higher taxes so that it takes both parents working in order to survive, lead to government having more time to take control of your children through the government school programs. Gun control laws taking away your constitutional rights, environmental laws taking away your right to private property, (you can own property but the government tells you what you are allowed to do with it. Liberal judges overturning the vote of the people. And on and on it goes, little by little.

  39. BackTo1776 says:

Campaign for The "Tea" Party agenda.

Objective: get the attention of our congress: house and senate representatives

Strategy: create a national symbol: get it out on the airwaves, Everywhere. Then invite congressmen and senators to our Parties and present a common agenda. We have to push the agenda to them in OUR meetings, not allow them to go to Congress and just vote on things they never got a chance to even READ.

Our problem is that we do not create and push the agenda. The executive branch, treasury and fed are pushing the agenda, and congress is just reviewing it and asking questions about what the agenda pushers are trying to do.

YOU WILL NOT WIN THIS WAY!!!! YOU THINK YOU ARE PLAYING OFFENSE BY ASKING QUESTIONS OF THESE PEOPLE AND YOU ARE USING DEFENSIVE TACTICS.

YOU NEED TO GO ON THE OFFENSE AND PROPOSE AN ALTERNATIVE TO WHAT IS GOING ON.

First… we need to unite all the different efforts with different names, like 912project, teapaty.org, the New Continental Congress, under one powerful national name and symbol. THEN EXECUTE A NATIONAL CAMPIAGN OF AWARENES, UNITED BY ONE COMMON SYMBOL FOR OUR CAUSE.

    1. Tea Leave lapel pins for businessmen

    11. Publishing of congressmen and senators that support the "Tea Party"
    12. Tea Party website proclaiming our agenda. (In league with 912project)

and more…. keep the ideas flowing

Luckily it would only happen if the world lost confidence in the dollar.

Wait….who's in charge of our dollars right now? Uh-oh.

  41. ReadCon1 says:

While America is focused on the economy, banks, AIG, bonuses and bailouts…consider this…IF the Congress gives the Treasury Dept the ability to take over privately owned and publicly traded companies, how long will it be before Turbo Tax Tim declares the BIG, EVIL Health Insurance Companies, (ie Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, etc.) have “betrayed the public trust” and "can no longer be allowed to operate in a manner that doesn't benefit the American People". PRESTO !! Instant Nationalized Healthcare. It will be over before we even realize what happened.

  43. USMCiNGEN says:

11110 was repealed by Johnson. The US precious metals reserves are insufficient for the Federal Government to provide a redeemable currency. The only way I see, currently, to return a hard currency to the American people is to make currency competition legal. The States are denied in the The Constitution the authority to coin money, however, such limitation is not placed upon the people. Simple legal tender laws forbid competing currency. States could co-operatively come up with some hard standards for private currency so it could be interchangable. It wouldn't take years, it would take months to get substantial amounts of hard currency into circulation.

    • Ootadabun says:

With all due respect, you are in error; EO 11110 signed by President Kennedy June 1963 has never been repealed, amended or superseded. If you have or can find verifiable evidence of same please post I have looked everywhere and can find nothing to support your claim.
What I have found is exactly the opposite:
"The Christian Law Fellowship has exhaustively researched this matter through the Federal Register and Library of Congress. We can now safely conclude that this Executive Order has never been repealed, amended, or superseded by any subsequent Executive Order. In simple terms, it is still valid," wrote John Curran.
[Had President Kennedy and the silver certificates survived, the Federal Reserve would have been out of business, the perpetual wars on everything could not be financed, our people would not be drowning in consumer credit debt, our economy would be anchored to value and New Year’s, 2009 would not be the eve of our destruction. Our choice is clear: End the Fed Nov. 22, 2008, or do nothing and let the bastards do to our entire nation what they did to JFK that fateful day in Dallas 45 years ago.]
      <a href=”http://proliberty.com/observer/20081002.htm” target=”_blank”>http://proliberty.com/observer/20081002.htm

It is well past time to end the Fed—or it will surely it ends us.
It is well past time to end the Fed—or it will surely it ends us.

  44. ForgottenGuy says:

I'm sorry, but I don't think that that would be the most effective use of our efforts. Lincoln said: "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Remember, it was Ross Perot's candidacy that brought us Bill Clinton. Ross offered a good alternative to Bush 41 and wound up dividing a vote that would have otherwise kept Bush in the White House.

Creating a new party wouldn't be dissimilar to leaving America to create a new country because of the policies of the Democrats.

Yes, there is corruption in both parties without a doubt. But both are well funded and have strong infrastructures.

  45. liberty713 says:

More power…How about we take the power into our own hands. Let's force Congresses hands on H.R. 833 and put an End to the Federal Reserve that cause this economic crisis to begin with. On top of that the Fed Hijacked the American Taxpayers for trillions compliments of the U.S. Treasury Dept. Time to launch an attack on them. On April 17th we wil launch the first of many bank runs. Take out all of your money and leave exactly $17.76 in your account. For more information go to : http://libertyormayhem.com/Liberty_or_Mayhem/Home... and see the video.

  46. USMCiNGEN says:

Why have an interest rate period? Why not make the interest rate negative so that those who are overburdened get a light load over time? All these options would be cheaper than what the Feds have actually done so far. The answer is simple. They all debate the wrong topic. Taking money from taxpayers to give it to others is THEFT, period. The TARP program is unconstitutional and immoral. Congress had no authority to pass it.

  47. IdahoGhola says:

I meant personal freedom and personal RESPONSIBILTY are one and the same

  48. IdahoGhola says:

100% correct. Personal Freedom and personal freedom are one and the same. You can't have one with out the other and you can't surrender one without surrendering the other.

  49. Oldguy2 says:

It is the old misdirection ploy!

It also masks the fact that AIG was a government money laundering setup passing bailout money to domestic and foreign banks.

  50. USMCiNGEN says:

A similar bill gets introduced almost every session. They usually get 15-25 co-sponsors and that's it. That's how few Reps. give a damn about just government. John Glenn once said Congress couldn't do half the things they do if they had to justify their authority.

  51. pegmacgolf says:

I don't trust Geithner and I wouldn't want him to have that much power. I think we would lose a lot of freedoms.

  52. USMCiNGEN says:

Forecasting your actions to your opponent decreases the likelihood of success. Develop the plan, then execute it.

  53. Janice_K says:

I too feel overwhelmed at times, but I try to remind myself that this is my Nation that is at stake, and I dare not tire of fighting for her!

This power grab by TurboTax Tim is not only un-Constitutional, it is the single most dangerous thing I've seen (so far) come from this administration. What a marvelous tool this would be to silence any/all dissent! Careful there Gravely Tractor/Intel/Exxon — annoy us (the Feds) too much — speak too loudly against our policies, and Mr. Geithner will nationalize you, sell your assets, set your salaries, and utterly destroy you! And it will all be LEGAL!

This MUST be stopped dead in its tracks! Our Federal Government can't even read Bills, or own up to their mistakes honestly. How on earth can they convince us that they can run complex companies fairly?

I would point to Chavez and his nationalization of various industries as an example of what will happen to us if this power grab is permitted. Once passed, I am not sure that there is any resolution for our Nation other than secession.

  54. IdahoGhola says:

I just posted a similiar reply elsewhere, but maybe we need to withhold our "need." What does the Federal Government provide that we can do without? What do they provide that our local Governments that we could do without? What are they telling us we can't do? Who cares, maybe we want to do it anyway. In short…ignore them. Live without them and as if they don't exist to the greatest dgree possible. Not just as individuals but as communitiees.

Media a problem? Ignore it. Turn it off, don't buy it.

Or, hey, what about the "Free State Project?' There's another way to go. We take over a state by just moving there and participating. Kinda like Atlas Shrugged.

    • ForgottenGuy says:

I like the idea but the problem is that government has created a whole class of people who live off the government.

We all know they don't "need" to because all of us here are fully capable of supporting ourselves and going without the things that government provides (I can't think of anything they give me except the mail and taxes). But they are all convinced that if they don't get government money they'll die.

      A little like heroin.

Matt… thanks for the reply. I posted something else when my brain got unclogged after learning about the Obama Notre Dame thing. I almost became ill.

But I rallied and posted a "campaign to advance the tea party… look for it."

I've been watching the Obama press conference on hulu.com (cause I didn't catch it last night). I'll have to check out your post cause the people definitely need to so something soon! Something effective that is, and I agree with you on your overview.

Since we're also on a Jefferson kick, here's something that Obama seems to disagree with completely and has been making things worse: "Delay is preferable to error"

Ask the people who served in the armed forces, there is a time to use violence to enforce justice. We are not there. As long as the possibility of restoring the republic without violence remains we must not take up arms. 61. SSGMACSLADY says:

The only way we are going to have our voice is to vote them all out in the up coming elections and of course stay with our protests. We are in an election right now to fill the congresswomans seat in NY. THis election is bogus, all the newspapers will only do interviews with the Democrap and the Republicanmoron and not the third party that is running too. Dont give up hope we are still Americans and can get through anything!

  63. mattpileggi says:

Going mostly off of Jefferson, I believe his strongest tenants of change were impeachment and rebellion. I don't think we have the option of withholding taxes since the power to enforce is with the governments. We do have votes, and also pressure. I'm hoping we can figure out an effective form of rebellion that doesn't involve force, but instead applies enough pressure.

What do you think can be done given the power that still lies with the people?

LOL I have found errors in books that we have purchased, history books are a big problem to find one that tells the whole TRUE story.
One thing that I dont understand is why the schools hate us so much? We are doing their job for them and still paying school taxes to them on top of it.

  66. BackTo1776 says:

There is no way violence would win this battle. I meant no violence, I wasn't being sarcastic although it could have been taken that way. I meant we need a laser-like strategy of thought.

The colonists declared their separation from Britain, since Britain sought control of everything they put their hands on. That hurt. If the kingpins of government cannot keep us under control, whomever they are working for will be disappointed.

The Declaration proclaimed their independence from the government that was violating their rights. Ours has been hijacked and our congress has been corrupted in purpose, so we can't go to them. There are not enough good ones to dominate the corrupted and weak ones. We need to put together a few good minds and discover this together.

The government controls the military. There is no way a strategy of physical violence can win. That is suicidal.

    • f the infection of moralless and virtueless polititions wasnt so deep the threat of the states to sucede from the nation would be a great thought we must work on a local level and then work our way up the only problem is this administation is on a fast track to socialism and its getting worse.
sory about any confusion in our corospondence and god bless

  67. Comrade Geitner,
I am pleased with our plans progress; expect more grandstanding and showboating from senators then the congress. I have contacted comrade H. Clinton and have received the “Big Brother CDR from her. If they do not conform then we will start to release the FBI generated information to our “supporters” along with the various groups you discussed in your e-mail. Well done and keep up the progress.

    POTUS, B.H.O.

  68. Comrade Obama; Our plan is in progress. Once the useful idiots and simpering dogs give you and this department the requested powers along with printing more money it will topple this Imperialist society. 3 T more and no nation will touch US Treasury Securities. This will cause a cry for us to install our plans for a Soviet Style world society. "Tea Parties," we can overcome any objection/resistance by marginalizing their leadership using the lap dog media. We can use our troops, units created from BATF, Comrade Clinton's Amercorps, Acorn, ELF, Moveon.org and other organizations, all quietly funded by George Soros. Once we have martial law, I will according to your previous directions, nationalize all industry and order bank accounts and assets frozen then seized from enemies of the state, including those who blindly followed and financed our takeover. RICO along with new statutes we are in process of creating will achieve our goals. We will no longer need the useful idiot bourgeoisie to fund us. I suggest “Retiring” all intelligencia and traitors to America, first professors and liberal bourgeoisie then all media personalities including Beck. These will consolidate our power. Comrade Geitner

  69. PamelaYH says:

This is the most insane thing I have ever heard. Since when has MORE government solved anything? I am a small business owner and I hope to grow but where is the incentive? Do we really want the Geithner/Obama team to control any business? IMHO I think not.

  70. BackTo1776 says:

billmosh… you have identified the very thing that invites corruption and lack of due diligence in lending and risk taking. I teach a class in economics as a volunteer and they asked me how the financial system toppled. I started by asking them how you got a loan and they said "you go to a bank." I told them not as much anymore… you could go to a mortgage broker, and the bond would then sell off the loan, and then the loan could be sold to another bank, and that bank could package up 1,000 loans and sell them as a bond, then buyers would think that it was an OK safe investment because it was offered by a bank. And on top of that Bill Clinton signed a law in 2000 exempting Credit Default Swaps from regulation as well. These evil instruments allow banks to loan out more of their money and keep less in reserve because they can say they insured the risk of default, when in fact that were all selling these things to each other and when the base of it all, the mortgages themselves started to go bad, it took the whole web of interconnected risk down with it.

In short, they allowed the disconnection of risk of default from the origination of the loan, and allowed additional layers of risk on top of that.

Foolish, risky, Wall Streeters made money on it and flew the coop when they saw it toppling. Many of them knew it could and a few knew it would.

  71. ArthurW says:

there are more than one vet here,
there are very many of us here.

  72. gldncat says:

I like this idea too. I had actually thought of taking the protests to the news stations as well, but at Congress people's homes would be even more effective. These are "servants of the people" so why not bring the issue directly to them. Only problem is they aren't home right now…all of them are in Washington doing the Washington two-step. But, when they do come home for a break we should all form up and protest at their homes in every state.

  73. well back to 1776,
what would you propose? storm washington with our rifles and shotguns face off with trained military personell armed with fully automatic weapons ,armored vehicles oh and most of all the law? Lets not forget the reason Obama is in office is because (if we actually do surround them)we didnt get the word out about Obama, we elected all the clowns that are in the senate and congress. And if you look at statistics there should be over 300 million american voters yet 200 million is all that actually vote so there is 100 million people who dropped the ball so to say.
I know it is frustrating, my wife got laid off 3 months ago,we have credit card debt like you couldnt imagine(nobodies fault but our own)(and no bailout for us)But I think together (with level heads prevailing)we can make a big difference.

  75. no but here is the distinction between us and them they are only pissed about the bonuses and if you look at the newest proposals from the administration its all about leveling the playing feild Giethner just drafted a proposal that would allow the fed gov. through the treasurey to restrict bonuses on all companies (even those who dont recieve govt. funds) and our anger is over the fact that the govt. is now the main shareholder of aig, then because the “bonuses” (these were agreed uppon to keep people at the company they realy arent bonusses they are part of a pay package all executives negotiate year to year) were cleared by geithner and then protected by the dodd ammendment to the stimulus package(you know the 1100 pages no one read but they voted for nothing important in these 1100 pages) Plus 165 million in “bonusses” is nothing compared to the 65 billion of bailout money sent to spain,Germany, and french banks through Aig that geithner as well as all involved knew about like glenn says look behind the curtain there is a lot of smoke and mirrors going on.Oh and I was refering to those calling for violence like those who were threatening the lives of the execs. who recieved the bonusses.

The Republican party is a political bureaucracy whereas the the Conservative movement is a philosophy. The party is about getting elected and re-elected, the movement is about governing according to our founding documents. Big difference.

O'Reilly, Glenn, Rush etc all talk about the tea parties more and more, Michelle Malkin is all over the idea every day. The one that Glenn highlighted in Florida this past weekend was organized by 2 moms and promoted by a local radio personality. I know in our market, Vicki McKenna is very big on the upcoming tea party in Madison.

We know about these things, we need to be promoting them and not wait for someone else to do it.

In sales, there is the "200 rule" which says that if you sat a person down and asked them to write down the names of every person they knew, they could write down at least 200 people. You tell 200, each of them tells 200…

They are nuts… and everyone in congress is following along? Forget waiting till 2010… We need to get rid of most of them in DC now. Perhaps, we need to request a tax audit on all of them… Including Presiden Barry O… that most likely has of-shore accounts.

First, we have to take much of the blame because every time 'we' insisted that they make some 'safety' change the price went up another $1,000.00 at minimum. Right now there are plants closed. We also have military equipment that needs a re-birth. If I heard correctly the pentagon has the Dollars in their budget. Keep the pressure on those who are about to join the rest of us in the unemployment line, “those” being our "LEADERS" Thank God for ELECTIONS.

  81. billmosh says:

The final word on the matter .

    Thomas Jefferson once said:

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies . . . If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] . . . will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered . . . The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." — Thomas Jefferson — The Debate Over The Recharter Of The Bank Bill, (1809)

Tell Glenn to start barking up this tree….howl more on this point….the big C ? started this mess

  83. billmosh says:

The argument for preserving Glass-Steagall (as written in 1987):

    1. Conflicts of interest characterize the granting of credit – lending – and the use of credit – investing – by the same entity, which led to abuses that originally produced the Act

    2. Depository institutions possess enormous financial power, by virtue of their control of other people’s money; its extent must be limited to ensure soundness and competition in the market for funds, whether loans or investments.

    3. Securities activities can be risky, leading to enormous losses. Such losses could threaten the integrity of deposits. In turn, the Government insures deposits and could be required to pay large sums if depository institutions were to collapse as the result of securities losses.

    4. Depository institutions are supposed to be managed to limit risk. Their managers thus may not be conditioned to operate prudently in more speculative securities businesses. An example is the crash of real estate investment trusts sponsored by bank holding companies (in the 1970s and 1980s).

  84. billmosh says:

The bill that ultimately repealed the Act was introduced in the Senate by Phil Gramm (Republican of Texas) and in the House of Representatives by Jim Leach (R-Iowa) in 1999. The bills were passed by Republican majorities on party lines by a 54-44 vote in the Senate[12] and by a 343-86 vote in the House of Representatives[13]. After passing both the Senate and House the bill was moved to a conference committee to work out the differences between the Senate and House versions. The final, veto-proof bill resolving the differences was passed in the Senate 90-8 (1 not voting) and in the House: 362-57 (15 not voting). The legislation was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on November 12, 1999. [14]

The banking industry had been seeking the repeal of Glass-Steagall since at least the 1980s. In 1987 the Congressional Research Service prepared a report which explored the case for preserving Glass-Steagall and the case against preserving the act.[7]

  85. billmosh says:

Here is the real issue peopl estop looking at the smoke screen. The Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the United States and included banking reforms, some of which were designed to control speculation.[1] Some provisions such as Regulation Q, which allowed the Federal Reserve to regulate interest rates in savings accounts, were repealed by the Depository Institutions Deregulation and Monetary Control Act of 1980. Provisions that prohibit a bank holding company from owning other financial companies were repealed on November 12, 1999, by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.[2][3]

    • Ootadabun says:

      There is another remedy:
President Kennedy’s Executive Order # 11110; [ June 1963] had he used it would have put the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank out of business. He was assassinated 6 months later before he had a chance!
To the best of my knowledge Executive Order #11110 has never been repealed, amended, or superseded. So it could have been used by any president including Obama.

The monies President Kennedy issued were [$4,292,893,825] true money, not the useless monopoly money we carry around today. That cash, [Kennedy’s] was backed by the silver coin and bullion held by the U.S. Treasury. In which case makes it more valuable than the phony Federal Reserve money.

Obama, could have fixed the financial crisis without saddling the country w/ a debt it cannot repay! He could have used President Kennedy’s Executive Order # 11110; started the presses and effectively marginalize the PRIVATELY OWNED Federal Reserve.
Is this likely to happen? Are you kidding Obama has a plan and it sure isn’t the CHANGE most people expected!

What Powers Want, What The Declaration withheld.

After another thorough reading of the declaration in search of strategy, I spied a clue. The powerful want to control you. You are the source of them making more money.

In the case of the Continental Congress of 1776, they listed their grievances and the fact that they petitioned peacefully without any answers, but, in fact, continued threats and abuses. The British did not treat them like British citizens. They wanted what they wanted from their extended empire and did not want to give back any due.

The Revolutionaries did, however, TAKE AWAY THEIR TIES TO THE BRITISH, DECLARING THEMSELVES INDEPENDENT IN EVERY WAY FROM THEM.

As such, we are, the Not So United States right now.

I hear there are quite a few states that are reconsidering their "membership".

Loyalty and respect? Please; their political and personal lives are embarassing, immoral, smack of contept of the average American.

The most precious thing a man possesses is his freedom. And throughout recorded history examples of man's attempts to control the freedom of other men. Freedom is the ability to do the right (or wrong); thing answering only to your ehtical and moral limits, basically your own conscious The right thing and the easy thing are rarely found in close proximity and our Govt is poised to choose the latter. I am always willing to sacrifice as a means to assure my daughter can enjoy at least as many freedoms as me. I think what is needed is to educate the supporters of big government. The different groups that will vote for more government need to be turned to see what they are giving up to have Uncle Sam be their benefactor. I listen to some of these people and it seems they were just waiting for someone to see their plight and assist them, not realizing that the power was really within them to make the changes. ____I also think there is a large number of youger people following Pres. Obama, because he has made them feel that they are contributing. When I was younger, I was looking for a way to really make a difference and help. Pres. Obama really accomidates that need with the way he has solicited them to help out. This is what we need to do. Provide the method for the younger people to contribute and feel that they are helping out and educate the powerless that the constitution gives them power to change their destiny.____We have to first start by believing in ourselves and then live it. IF we do that we will influence those around us. Then when we gather, a true uniting energy will be there. We can do this, don't be disheartened and don't give up! __

  95. Tech_Mom40 says:

I think it would be most productive if we could all split up into areas of debate that concern us. For example, one of my pet peeves is the indoctrination of our children and fair representation. So, If I had a message board that was only devoted to the socialistic education of our children, then there could be more productivity because the people would be more focused on one topic and be able to formulate a plan. The way it is, we're just kind of having a gripefest most of the time. It seems anyway. ALbeit, I have gotten some really good links to some really good material. All it has done is suffice to scare the heck out of me but make me mad as hell. I will NOT throw away my childrens future. They will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers.

  96. BackTo1776 says:

You are right. Tea Parties make you feel better. What we need is swift cessation of insane monetary policies and usurpation of companies. Are we willing to accept the alternative threat to our economy if large companies go down? We must be, for that will be thrown in our faces and many of us will scatter without an answer. Just like Franklin said, those that would trade liberty for security deserve neither. (and get neither)

We need to think beyond meetings and marches to real strategy, which means, we have to figure out what it is that they want most and withhold it. It is not just tax money. It is not just our votes, they can buy off just about anyone who runs. It is something else.

    Ideas? We desperately need them.
