That is the exact problem I'm talking about… and so few people are willing to accept the idea that our government is full of corrupt politicians that would be willing to take such actions… but if it were a government in iran, china, iraq or russia instead of the US government… it would seem very possible. This doubt isnt something that just occured… it was rehearesed, planned and conspired. Our own government has trained us to trust them, no matter what.

  2. Gee, go figure, it was ACORN. This "group" needs to be stopped. Sad thing is they are being funded by us against our will. Then they say you can only donate so much that can be written off to other charities. This group is like an organized government mob. They strong arm those in the way. How is this any different from a gang of thugs? They are more educated, that is about it.

Controvercy coming, I just know it!

I heard on the news that some of the AIG execs are giving back the bonuses to which they were legally entitled.

I COMPLETELY disagree with this action. (Fuming yet?)

Why do I disagree and call on all of the other execs to keep their bonuses? Simple, for the same reason you should never negotiate with terrorists. It gives them power and proves they can push us around.

By giving back these bonuses they have shown our out-of-control government that if they can't COMPEL a 90% tax on these bonuses, then they can EXTORT a 100% tax by unleashing the media and the ACORN-backed mob on them.

I have been so disappointed with all these execs (banking, auto etc) going up to the Hill to have their A$$es handed to them and they sit there and not only take it, they roll over to show their soft underbelly. How did these guys get to be so highly placed in such huge companies without owning even a rudimentary backbone.

Here we are, most of us working for incomes that are less than 6 figures standing up for these linguini-spined execs and they do not have the courage to stand up to these liars in Congress.

That $165,000,000 came out of our pockets and into theirs. The least they can do is stand up to these clowns in Congress and call out the likes of Dodd, Frank and others that are truly behind the greatest loss of wealth in human history.

This debate is the product of Government bailout money that should not have been placed into the hands of AIG or any company for that matter. With that said, the idea of AIG executives receiving bonuses of any kind may turn the stomach of most Americans, it was within their company policy to issues bonuses. The hard thing for most of us to digest is the fact that these bonuses are taxpayer dollars.

To keep with the topic was it “fair” for AIG to pay bounces after wrapping their hands around money given from the Government; my response would be, in the world of capitalism it is not only fair but legal. We must open our eyes and understand this was a set up from the beginning to create a class war, our new liberal Government needs grand distractions in order to impose their agenda, do not over think this nor believe it to be anything other than smoke and mirrors. While we sit and discuss the fairness of bonuses that were not hidden before the bailout money was paid we are slipping closer to a socialist state.

  6. Even if Congress knew about th contracts, there are still bankruptsy laws that protect creditors, I believe thet arethere bankruptcy laws that decide who will be paid first, and who may not be protected, such as employees with huge payout contracts.

  7. ram9389, I agreed, the politicians should be held accountable too.

Please for a point of clarification.
Do I understand correctly that our confiscated funds are being fed to 'Acorn' for the express purpose of gathering illegal votes, promoting a state religion ( communism ) and for the promotion of general social decay in America?? Who voted for this?? Who was represented in this??
Do these people EVER produce commerce or build on solid ground??
Why should we subsidize this activity?? Like Air America it doesn't seem to be able to grow on it's own merit…
Why not steal from the Kid's Clubs like hair america did?? Get off our moon…

Protesting AIG is one thing, however considering the incindiary nature of this situation. And The anger that has been brewing having people actually go to the executives homes to protest could easily get ugly. The executives have not been charged with any crime, but they have had death threats and hate mail by the bagfull.
Please remember that all it takes is one overly angry person with a bad agenda to turn a peaceful protest into a lynch mob. The private homes of the executives is not appropriate, sorry.

  11. Tandab says:

Habitat for Humanity is a great charity and they serve a wonderful purpose in society, but I would seriously reconsider ever buying any of there projects. They are in multiple law suits right now do to sub standard work. Not to take away from the wonderful people who do great work for them. But remember 'Buyer Beware"

  12. Tandab says:

one voice is easy for Washington to ignore, but one united voice of thousands of irate citizens cannot be ignored. Take part in the Tea Parties especially on April 15th. They are gaining momentum. I personally feel that most polititians don't give a d..b about what we think. 85,000 californians called Senator Feinsteins office to protest the 1st stimulous package, 5,000 californians called to support it…. Guess what she did she supported it because she feels that she knows what We need better than we do. I personally do not want to give the Post office more of my money.

  13. ram9389 says:

This is what always gets me. The so called rich that take, take, and take are always vilified. Why isn’t anyone saying the same thing about the multi millionaires that control Congress and take our money, give it to the AIG big wigs that turn around and put it back into the pockets of those same politicians? Why aren’t those politicians being held accountable? I and allot of other people are getting very fired up because we are getting ripped off by our government.

  14. jowilchek says:

All this sharing and blogging are good, we all need to vent. But I write to my Represenative, Senators and the President almost on a daily basis (yes, there are that many issues and more on the way). But I still feel they are not reading them (some clerk probably is, if anybody). I need to feel my voice is being heard, and I don't think protest work either. What about petitions? Any idea on how to really get heard? Can you hear me now?

  15. KingdomNow says:

Congress foisted the first bailout upon AIG with no strings attached. The bailout sans restrictions are used to settle AIG's debts which includes contractual obligations. AIG is a huge company- do you actually believe that all of AIG's employees who had contracts that promised hiring bonuses were at fault?

Treasury Secretary Geithner, who previously worked as the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, would have known about the AIG contracts prior to taking his federal post.

Congress, acting out of hysteria to run to the rescue of such a generous donor as AIG, voted to the bailout that protected the contracts. Had AIG filed bankruptcy and been allowed to reoganize, the contracts would have been renegotiated legally and we would have been spared all the superfluous ruckus over a miniscule drop-in-the-bucket amount of taxpayer money.

In a capitalistic society, all the people benefit but the ones willing to work benefit most of all. That is justice.

  16. Definition from Wikipedia – Fascism is a radical, authoritarian nationalist ideology that aims to create a single-party state with a government led by a dictator who seeks national unity and development by requiring individuals to subordinate self-interest to the collective interest of the nation or race.

As the Obama administration and Congress work to erode our rights, including right to free speech – he's working toward controlling the internet, the right to bear arms — in at least one state they have prohibited people from carrying arms into national parks — all of this is just steps toward making impossible for the people to protest, be aware and be armed to fight against our government, as our founding fathers preserved in our Constitution. Obama's drive to create a civilian army, much like Hitler's made up of our youth who would serve their country as a requirement and brain wash them to be his supporters and defenders will erode us from communicating our values. The whole spread the wealth is to reduce all of us to need the government and be controlled by the government. Making it impossible for us to object or have opposing views is completely in line with having a one party system and dictatorship.

Not allowing debate int he Congress over the bills is also a form of dictatorship.

  17. epilitimus says:

Estimated income tax, is yet another ripoff. Not only do you have to pay taxes that will be wasted but you have to pay taxes on money you haven't even earned yet. Somebody please explain to me how that is Constitutional. Really somebody, please explain it.

  18. epilitimus says:

That was true until the bailout. People borrowed money they then couldn't pay back, so the govt forces us to borrow more money, which we can't pay back, so we'll have to borrow more money…
The only difference is that the people Madoff bilked had a choice. Anyone know what the status is on paying your taxes with pennies? Baring that what is the smallest denomination you can pay with? At the very least we should pay in cash, they're making it worthless so let them deal with it.

Okay, okay, I know bad idea to mess with the IRS, still before long it may be worth the aggravation.

  19. Marks890 says:

Apparently our govt officials have not read the U.S. Bill of Rights. They do not have any idea what the hell they are doing so they are resorting to mob tactics! They give a subversive organization to (ACORN) billions of taxpayer dollars to help the Marxist left carry out their agenda much like the Hitler Youth did during WWII. This group strong-arms private citizens into submitting to the will of our corrupt leaders. I am OVER this thug mentality bull crap!

    • bigbang70 says:

yea before you know you will have to check with the government before you get a job,, we already pay them for the right to work i.e. income tax

  20. mks68 says:

So, is this an educated response? or what , where is the link from a credible news agency?

  21. Marks890 says:

This is just the beginning of the strong arm thug tactics from our government. Very troubling!

  22. Aree says:

Oh, take note of the professionally printed signs being carried by the people in front of AIG in new york. Some of the people carrying them don't look as if they could afford a cup of coffee, let alone the cost of a printed sign.

  23. Aree says:

I saw a bus on the news this morning. The women were wearing ACORN tee-shirts…surprise, surprise!

  24. 2andout says:

It could take years to bus to all the congress critters homes.

These are not high school courses, but college courses. Most universities have Global Studies, and I took some courses in that vein circa 10 years ago, but for the life of me, I don't recall anything like One Currency/One Court/One Legal System/One Government System. I guess times have changed!

  26. NancyNurse says:

And sooooo. What part of English Common Law is not applicable and valid? Seems to me it has worked for ummmmm…….. since 1024, right? It is called tradition, precedent, and foundation. Study it. Learn it. Apply it.

  27. Nomarxism says:

Well the strategy is that they need to foster hatred for "greedy" capitalists. This is a cornerstone of marxism. Meanwhile they mercilessly rape this country of every dime they can. Absolute criminals. I sense that 2010 will be too late. Obama Bin Lyin is going to accomplish in a few short weeks what Osama Bin Laden has prayed to "Allah" for most of his adult life.

  28. Greetings All.Just signed on to 912 project…Ihope to become more involved.

  29. winecup, no, it would not be like the homeowner insisting anything except that the toilet that was installed crumbled to pieces, thereforse the plumer did not produce what the contract called for, your arguement that the plumber should have refused the job? is not applicable.

  30. jowilchek says:

sorry doghouse, the SCHIP cigarette tax goes into effect 4/01/09. The last price increase was by the tobacco industry.
    source: cigarette outlet owner

  31. JRockSci says:

The difference is are the targets rich or poor. Joe the Plummer made OBAMA reveal he was for redistribution of wealth. Wasn't that the open round in class warfare. And look how Joe was attacked for his peaceful problem.

  32. I think we need to have our tea parties in front of our congressmen office right on the side walk where their staffers have to walk by us . you think they wont call the boys in washington .or the police and that ought to get the news people out to see what is up. now keep it peaceful.and if we did this in every state on the same day do you think it would make a diffrence.it would have to get some press

  33. winecup says:

The point that seems to be missed is that, allegedly (I have only news reports upon which to base my opinions) the AIG folks in question were incentivized to produce certain results, which they did. In your plumbing example, it would be like the homeowner insisting that the plumber install a certain toilet and then the toilet fell apart. The homeowner can argue that the plumber should have refused to do the job and refuse therefore to take payment, but even then the homeowner should feel pretty bad if some homeowner's union went and bussed angry mobs to the plumber's house.

  34. northwest777 says:

After watching FOX BUSINESS today I find out that AIG gave all kinds of donations to the weasels in Washington including "GOD" Obama. They want AIG to give the money back, I wonder if they can do the right thing and give the money back? They are weasels so it may be difficult for them to do it.

  35. CMcCauley says:

I'm sorry but I can't help but think all this chest beating in Congress is an insult. Am I angry with AIG? To some degree, but remember the safeguard for those bonuses was written in the stimulus bill by Congress with the knowledge of the president! Chris Dodd lied and admitted he lied but then went on to use the "it's not my fault" excuse. He said he was pressured by staff to insert that clause. BY STAFF!!! Does the staff run other members of Congress as well? This bill was shoved down the throats of Congress to sign without any ability to read it first. Am I angry with AIG? I am not nearly as angry with AIG as I am our own elected official who signed that bill not even knowing what they were signing with the exception that billions of dollars spent would be the end result. I am extremely angry with both sides of the aisle. Both Democrats and Republicans voted for this Pandora's box.

Many have mentioned creating a third party and I agree. It takes a long time, however, to get a credible movement going in that direction. We have a third party now that has a few elected officials on the hill and is gaining ground. We want a third party that already has that credibility and is growing then go with the Independent Party. The more people who register Independent will dilute the obvious target of the democrats to realign districts in 2010. As an Independant you can still vote whichever way you like but the higher the numbers the more difficult for either party to scew the districts. In addition, if we can get major numbers flocking to the established Independent party both Democrats and Republicans will have to start looking over their shoulders as we gain on them. I am a Republican but I will be changing my party to Independent this week.

If the numbers are there, both other parties will feel the pressure with three equally established parties in Congress we stand a much better chance of all three paying greater attention to us, the voters. Please consider this idea and I would appreciate your comments.

  36. follow the money AIG sent bail out money over seas my bet is to accounts in some members of congress name or should I say number only .these guys are bought and paid for by speical intrest.they dont care about the people

  37. roccosam says:

The bus tour should have started at the home of the "slimy weasel" the honorable senator Dodd (D) of Conn., from there head north use rt.95, that's the quickest way to that sloppy excuse for a congressman Frank's home, also a democrat. This bunch of liars and cheats knew about the bonuses weeks ago, the problem is the media refuses to report it (well except for fox news)

  38. hawk75 says:

instead of bussing protesters to the home of these execs, bus them to washington to protest.

  39. NancyNurse says:

There is a lot of confusion about what is salary and what is a bonus out there. And what many people don't realize is that these are contracted employees/execs, not 'at will' employees. Yes, it doesn't seem logical or fair, but that is part of contract law. Two parties determine the amount and conditions, and terms and then set a date for when this is to be fulfilled. Any bonuses to AIG execs would be under last year's contracts.
Yes, this firm needs to completely restructure and modify its business practices. No one is disputing that. But for a group of people to be claiming that AIG hurt them, and are vocally harassing them is pretty close to crossing a line.
Our government, especially the courts, are to referee the match only, not participate in it. Set the rules, and watch that folks don't break them, knowingly hurting others. The entire meltdown of our system is complicated and unraveling with take great skill and patience–which is a luxury for those who are being put out of their homes. All I know is that we have way too many people who expect the moon from others for simply walking around on this planet. And we have a government that is determined to utilize those bad attitudes to their political advantage, bending and unfairly making and interpreting laws. Meanwhile, good folks in the Middle and Working class see more job opportunities and economic security vanish. And since only the private sector can produce jobs in this country that don't COST the taxpayers, I think it is time to help the private sector out the most. I also think that our government should take more time to word its budgets, plans, proposals, and initiatives much MUCH more carefully. I think Obama needs a few Republicans/entrepreneurs to help him think outside the box a little. He is making way too many narrow minded, inflexible and punitive decisions that only help his base and not the rest of the USA.
If Mr. Obama desires a good legacy and a real shot at re-election, he better start doing a much better job. He only won election by a very narrow 3% of the population. That cushion could be gone in a heartbeat if he is not wise and prudent.

  40. Lavaman says:

Hadn't heard the whole saying but its part of human nature to deny responsibility.

  41. Polli says:

These people that would do this should be arrested but it seems if you do things that are hurtful, thats ok. If someone gets killed, oh well. The third ranking person in the country is willing to break the laws that the very government as approved. It really smells. No protection for anyone that you don't agree with!!

  42. pinkrose5513 says:

This a worst day of our lives on March 23rd. This morning as soon as I came home after dropped the boys off at home and my husband already been back at home early this morning with a pink slip. He said, I am laid off from work this morning. Right now he is mowing the backyard, I feel his sadness and frusted. I don't get this picture right with DOW UP. I don't feel like it is a happy Monday for both of us as it is for the Wall street! Do you have any idea why DOW is up today?

  43. pinkrose5513 says:

Oh I agree with you. Last night on Fox Sunday, I heard his talking about "90% tax on Bonus ( actually really read the closed captioned as if it was my ear). It was a joke coming from Rangle's mouth!

  44. MissLiberty says:

This is all just a smokscreen, they want us to blame the banks, and the rich, but we should be blaming the people behind this, the politicians, and there ties to the american franchise.

THEY SHOULD START BUSSING PROTESTERS TO THE FEDERAL RESERVE.

  45. 2andout says:

It they want to buss around protesters, may I suggest a few as a starting point?
These are just a few of our “Public Servants” that are hurting all of us:

Charles Rangel (D) NY, the number one person on the House Ways and Means Committee, has not paid taxes from rental income on his Dominican villa for years. The unit rents for up to $1100.00 per day. He has four rent-stabilized apartments, one of which is used as his campaign headquarters. He has kept his Mercedes-Benz parked free – at taxpayer expense – in a House of Representatives garage that is legally limited to 45 days of parking. The House values the spaces at $290.00 per month. Rangel has besides breaking the law, failed to pay taxes on this “imputed Income”.
Mr. Rangel claims he doesn’t understand the tax laws governing these items. He writes the tax law!
Mr. Rangel claims to have been brought up in poverty. He has slopped out of the public trough most of his adult life and is now a multi millionaire.

Pete Stark (D) CA, the number two person on the Ways and Means Committee, owns a 1.7Mil. a waterfront home in MD and claims it to be his primary residence in order to save $3853.00 in state and county taxes.
Mr. Stark claims he doesn’t understand the law governing these items. He writes the tax law!

Eliot L Engle (D) NY claims his $1.0 mil Pontiac Maryland residence as his primary residence to get out of paying $7000.00 in county and state taxes.
Mr. Engle is an example of yet another politician that came out of poverty and has become a multi millionaire by slopping in the public trough.

Jim Moran (D) VA, told those attending the Arlington County Democratic Committee's annual Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner “When I become chairman [of a House appropriations subcommittee], I'm going to earmark the sh** out of it,” Moran buoyantly told a crowd of 450 attending the event. He did – to the tune of $40.6 Million for which he received $890,000.00 in “campaign contributions” from the earmark recipients.
Mr. Moran is another “Public Servant” that has never worked in the private sector and has become a multi-millionaire while slopping at the public trough.
