You are correct that it was the Bush administration that started this massive defecit. However, Bush, as requested by Obama only utilized half of the first bailout bill. Also, at that time Obama was sort of a Senator that voted on that bill. He has since, spent almosttwice the amount which Bush proposed in that bailout package. Yes, you are quite correct in stating that it is congress who writes and passes the bills. But remember who directed the congress to begin working on a stimulus package before he took office, setting a dollar amount as a goal for them to shoot for in their bill.
WOW reminds me of a movie called "The Last King of Scotland" where the general wouldnt allow the national medical director to step down so he could go home, incidently the general was a dictator…… I thought the Clinton years had gone down in history as having the largest WOW factor, was I wrong, I just wish this wasnt so damn scary.
If Geithner wants to step down let him, maybe by doing so we could get someone in that actually has a clue and a little credibility. I believe the reason OBAMA said that is because the handlers, and I did say handlers will not allow it, just like they wont let him speak without the tele-prompter because every time he does he screws it up.

Yes there definately is voter fraud, but you can't blame that for everything. I live in a conservative district. It's conservatives that count the votes. I am a poll watcher. My area keeps re-electing the same congressman and senators over and over, The voters are not informed.
Obama did not win the vote in my area, but he got a much bigger precentage then Kerry did in 2004.
I really don't think there is much ballot tampering in my area. I think the most voters, unfortunately, are not educated on the issues and they believe what the Main Stream Media tells them. Especially the young people and the elderly people. The elderly grew up watching ABC, CBS and NBC and they are the ones that are still watching it and believing it

If I tender my resignation to a job and I'm not contractually obligated (like the military) the employer even the mighty POTUS has no choice other than accept my resignation. They can try to bribe/coerce me into staying but staying is my choice not theirs!

I do NOT agree with those that are advocating “Term Limits” for Congress. First I believe it is Un-Constitutional and I do not think we should violate the Constitution any more then I think they should be violating the Constitution.
Secondly Term Limits do not work. It is just another “quick fix” to make ourselves feel good. Like we have done something. There are 15 states that have term limits right now. Michigan is one of them and it is loaded with Liberals and they have driven their economy into the ground. If term limits work then Michigan should be doing great.
They do not work because the politicians just play musical chairs. They go from the House to the Senate to Governor to a Cabinet position, etc never actually leaving the system.
Why would we want to get rid of GOOD politicians through term limits. There is absolutely no need for term limits if the American people stop trying to do these “quick fixes” and actually take an interest in their government and keep informed. Hold the politicians ACCOUNTABLE and kick out the bad ones and REWARD the good ones

Better to limit terms the old fashion way, but with an amendment to the US constitution it is legal for US congressmen, and should be considered. Much more important than at the federal level is the state and county levels. That is where the real Good Buddie stuff goes on.

Missouri has term limits and it has worked out great! We ran out all the good old boy clubs and shortly after term limits, we got a balanced budget amendment to our constitution. Now our conservative house and senate are considering refusing the stimulus money.
The young reps are much easier to talk to and since they are learning, you can actually have an influence on them. Of course the populous has to get involved or the old lobbyist will be the only ones talking to them.
I agree 100%. There are no simple fixes. We have to keep ourselves informed, and vote those not doing their jobs out. They work for us, we do not work for them. We have to vote using Principles and Values. We also need to instill the importance of voting, to our children! We have to become involved with our government. Its not up to Obama if he will accept Tims resignation or not. Its up to us we need to start being in control. What we say is what matters.
Not if we aren't saying it loud enough. I think that's half the problem. We have to find a way to be heard, and a way that can't be ignored by the press, the politicians, or anyone else who has been running around with their fingers in their ears.

President Obama can not accept his resignation or fire him, that would be admitting he made a mistake in appointing him. And, we all know Obama is without fault, can do no wrong…is perfect in every way. If you don't believe just ask the Vice President Joe Biden…Obama couldn't even attend the Gridiron dinner he was so busy getting ready for Easter (he thinks its all about him)
Geithner should not be in there in the first place…. Lets get out of this mess; appoint Alan Greenspan again, put Warren Buffett in charge of the stock markets and have Giulaini head an office in charge of rooting out all coruption in business, stock markets or government…..
Mr. Buffett would need to sell all of his stock so we know that will not happen. Obama needs to 1) reduce taxes for all, 2) reduce capital gain taxes, and 3) reduce corporate taxes and the free market will take care of itself. The government needs to understand they work for us not the other way around.

Why should the president call for anyone's resignation the president is a great man and we all should follow his example. He should dictate.
I live in OH, which used to be a red state, but sadly turned blue for the last election. It's amazing to me how many smart, educated people have been totally taken in by Obama and his crazy plans. I scratch my head in amazement every time they defend him. All of these people are college educated and suffer from this delusion that we hard working people are responsible for all the welfare people out there. I'm all for helping people in need if they're willing to help themselves. I, don't, however, feel a compelling need to provide cable tv, cell phones, cars, etc…to able bodied people who choose not to work.
I agree with you. The problem is the unions in Ohio support the Dems always have and always will. Obama acts more like a movie star then a President of the U.S. he wants to turn this country into a socialistic country. Government will control everything. Geithner's inability to understand Turbo Tax has been fully explained over the past two months uder the guise of running the Treasury. He maybe smart but smart does not translate to common sense or ability to do a job.
Turbo Tim has President Obama's complete confidence, it is really too bad that no one outside the White House has any confidence in Tim or the President he serves.

I am curious does anyone like "the change" we got with this new administration, lets see we are going to have the largest deficit ever. Geithner can't staff or run the treasury with any creditability because he did not pay his taxes and still got nominated. He did not pay his taxes and gets a pass because he is also choosen by the Council on Foreign Affairs along with Biden and in the last administration VP Chenney.
This is the guy that they said was the only one that could do the job REALLY!!! and he did not even know about the bonuses until after they were paid out.
It is typical Obama to say "I won't accept his resignation. He is just that arrogant. He would never admit that he picked a incompetent person in any position. Anyway anytime he speaks without a TelePrompTer or when he ad-libs pure garbage spews from his mouth. I have no doubt we'll see more and more of this kind of thing from him.
Too bad the teleprompter is more concerned about how you feel instead of what you think. We need leadership that is fully informed and can speak to us from the facts and the heart at the same time without being told what to say by a teleprompter.

You are exactly right. Most people refuse to see this. I've said it before and I'll say it again……. If, we the people, do not storm the white house and demand removal of B.O and cronies, then we can no longer scream r a p e of America……. at some point us being s c r e w e d becomes consensual. All it takes is the people to come up in arms to stop Rockefeller – CFR and company.
Sorta looks like President Obama has been teleprompted about what is to come down the line regarding Geithner. Perhaps our tax evading Geithner will be the sacrificial goat when big spending does not work as planned and somebody has to take a fall. It will be a gentle fall with book deals, bonuses, speaking engagements on how he was set up and other elitist wealth distribution schemes. Obama will follow his teleprompter and declare Geithner just didn't work out right as our country shifts into another big spending direction. Maybe Geithner had better reconsider selling his million dollar home in New York as he may be moving back.
Problem is, a majority of "We the People" still see Obama as a savior and don't understand or think that the administrations policies and congressional actions are good.

Yeah, I find it interesting that Obama keeps throwing out there that he was a "community organizer" yet when he had a chose to stay with the poor and continue to help them OR get a paid education from Harvard and now lives life as a very rich person, he chose Capitalism over Socialism. Doesn't practice what he preaches! I just read an article by Kenneth T. Walsh at U.S. News that Obama reads 10 handpicked letters out of 40,000 from "real Americans" to keep in touch with how the "folks" feel. Write to Kenneth Walsh and let him know that we are not koolaid drinkers and don't believe his lies either!
He's running for World Leader so when he finally gets one world economy, etc. he will really be in charge. However, since he is always in a perpetual state of running for some office, don't know what he will do after he gets that. If you don't believe me, review his tour to Germany, France, etc. What most people don't realize is that Obama offered concerts by popular artists. That is how he got so many people to attend.

I like the idea of how resignation is done in Japan: First he bows low and humbly asks for forgiveness from the one he has hurt, then he goes and commits hari kari. There are quote a few Dems in Congress that need to do just that.

I believe that within our Senate, there are honest responsible people. However, with position and power, they find how easy it is to become corrupt. It takes a couple of years to really take hold for most, some shorter when they have come from a place as corrupt as Chicago. therefore, I really agree with term limits. They are there long enough to get their work done but not long enough to do much damage….unless of course, you are president! We all know that 50 days in that office can make all the difference in the entire world.
Let's hope and pray that obama gets over his new found rock star status and starts considering the real needs of our country..or let's all work dilligently, starting now to kick his arrogant self out in 4 years!

Obama's "community" is in terrible shape. The one project that he was part of, in his organizing days, was a committee to oversee and try to make public schools better. There were 508 studets SHOT in the last 16 months in Chicago and 25 of them died. REPUBLICANS and DEMOCRATS. The Democrats don't care and the Republicans that do care are too affraid of Obama's popularity to go against him. Most all of them are COWARDS.

It seems like many of these posts do not try to answer the question. Tim Geithner didn't try to resign, or did he the world may never know. Yet President Obama is saying that he won't accept his resignation anyway. Maybe President Obama is saying that to detract away criticism of Geithner and recent calls for him to resign. Personally I am more skeptical than that, especially with all the appointments of so- called czars. I still find it to be strange that Geithner has no kind of undersecretary. Maybe what is really meant is that Timothy Geithner will not accept President Obama's resignation. Maybe Tim Geithner is in the Treasury just as a representative for the Federal Reserve. Considering what is getting done to our money in recent years. I think all you free thinking people out there(how many are left I don't know) better start thinking a whole lot more skeptical if you ever want to preserve the United States Constitution.
"We the People" are the ones responsible for the tangled mess we are in. WE elected the people that are driving this country into the ground. WE need to correct our errors and in 2010 nad 2012 replace every person in the Senate and House, regardless of party, with people, unknowns, from our Ballots. And if they cannot do the job FOR US then replace them at the next oppertunity. It is time for US to impose term limits on the House and Senate. Also cut off the retirement plan for them by putting them on Social Security, not let them give themselves pay raises, and put them on Medicare like everyone else. You would see an about face in the way things were accomplished in Congress. Lobbiest would not be able to strongarm anyone for long, lest they lose thier proxie.

I agree with you. The problem here though is that BM has not paid any attention to getting the rest of the Treasury Dept. staffed. He has been too busy arranging appearances and keeping up his "Rock Star" image. They don't even have someone to answer the phone, let alone run the department.
We should have a replacement in mind, but who? I shutter to say this, but we could get someone worse given Obama's socialist tendencies. Another problem is a political one–there is no one whom I believe is qualified whom the President would remotely consider.

I am deeply saddened that there is not more public outrage over the 'stimulus' bill. Whether you believe it has any merit in terms of economic recovery or not, for it to be passed by Congress and signed by the President with no thoughtful consideration, no reasoned debate is UNCONSCIONABLE!
And now the Federal Reserve has created another TRILLION dollars out of THIN AIR. How has this nefarious organization been allowed to mess with the economy, unfettered, for the past 96 years. No accountability to We the People. They are allowed to do whatever they deem necessary to manipulate the economy.

Not only should he accept the resignation he should demand it or fire him. He has no business holding a position like this given his past tax issues and his demonstrated inability to instill confidence in the financial system. This may be a job that is too difficult for anyone, but it is clearly too difficult for him.
It's true – why is this being discussed. No one wants Geithner's job. He cannot even find someone to help him. No reputable economist is going to get involved in this mess that Obama has created. That is why he cannot even find assistants. Another diversion – anything to focus on but the mess of the economy and the big power grab that Obama and company have made.
I don't know about that… it's just that any conservative considering the job knows he couldn't operate in the Obama administration. Let's face it… Obama and Geithner are hamstrung to each other… partners in crime. Neither is free for fear of exposure and/or blackmail. We are truly in a pickle! Can't wait to see the market's reaction tomorrow… I expect the plunge protection team will be in full force!
It's all about getting his Agenda passed even if it means demolishing/disrespecting the Constitution…..

Geithner and Obama are both narcissists (did I spell that right?). Watch Geithner. He is arrogant and smug. The reason Geithner can't get any help is probably because he doesn't WANT any. Maybe I have missed it, but I haven't heard any names mentioned – have you? My husband has been in the hospital, so I have been busy running back and forth from the hospital, but I have tried somewhat to keep up. Geithner will not voluntarily tender his resignation. It will have to be because of an outcry from Congress. Obama isn't going to admit a screw up. Obama will only ask him to resign if it starts affecting Obama. That could be coming. I think the best bet is to contact your Senators and Reps and demand Geithner's resignation. If they get enough flack maybe they will start speaking up. Some already have. Contact them with facts, not just anger. Do you research.
Geithner has made no good decisons in either the Bush or Obama administrations. Every economic decision from the Bush $150B stimulus to the present has made the situation worse. Maybe if we had no treasury secretary the government would stop making dumb decisions.
We need someone who will make the hard decisions when it comes to the economy. So far there are no hard decisions being made by the administration. They seem to be in a fantasy world where even estimates from the non-partisan CBO are ignored in favor of their own made up "facts". If this is Obama policy then it make no difference who is the treasury secretary.

I think there are some really good people on the horizon. Mark Sanford, governor of S.C., Mike Pence from Indiana, Bobby Jindal (keep an eye on him), and Tom Coburn who is one of the most fiscally responsible Senators in Congress, Senator Tecendo, and I do not leave out Palin. I am just worried that the Dems did a really good hack job on her this election. Plus I think the GOP was afraid of her. Also, one of the smartest individuals that might consider running is Newt Gingrich. I would love to see Gingrich and Obama debate. Gingrich would walk all over Obama. I do think all of the above should be closely watched. If you have others, I would like to hear suggestions. I am watching to see of the GOP holds true to returning to their conservative/consititutional roots. I think Steele is authentic, but I am giving it a wait and see. We have to focus on the 2010 elections. Watch EVERY person running for re-election, learn about their opposition and don't hesitate to contribute and talk to people in those states. cont.

As far as Geithner (Admitted Tax cheat heading the US Treasury) goes, I agree with the statements of several of the comments on this page, Barack would be hard pressed to find anyone who agrees with his views, who is HONEST, to replace Geithner.
As I recall, I think our country was founded on principles of integrity and ethics but I guess we live in a new age that says, "Well he only knowingly lied on his taxes but lets let him run our countries finances."

There has got to be something to do. I know most lawsuit cases to prove his eligibility for office have hit snags or have simply disappeared off the docket. Either way, Impeachment has to start somewhere, the man is an IL politician, so I'm sure there is some kind of corruption we can dig up on him.

We also have to be extremely careful NOT to appear to engage in sedition or treason. Wikipedia defines sedition as: the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power. Wikipedia defines treason as: the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state and has to do with giving aid to enemies or levying war. Sedition is more about encouraging the people to rebel, where treason is actually betraying the country. We wish to make positive changes in our country, but we need to be cautious of how we are perceived by both the government and the general population. Are we willing to put in the time and energy required to make a real difference in the direction our country is heading? Can we make change in a positive way and not be perceived as a negative force by the general population of our country?
It's exciting that so many of us believe in Glenn's list of principles and values and wish to bring those back to our country. We truly do surround "them". Now, however, I believe we need to get together, first in our cities, then in our states, and finally in a national meeting in order to make our plans and ideals more concrete. Glenn has said to meet with your friends. That is great advice. But, with so many of us in here talking and risking being put on the government's "watch" list, we need to take this into the real world. As individuals on the internet, we're not as powerful as we would be as groups in the real world. We have to come together as an important political group working to make changes NOW and for the future. Glenn may have plans to do just this in the future, but I'm worried that this site may be shut down once the liberals see how many people are in here and how they feel. So far, all we are is a group of disorganized individuals with zero power. The tea parties are a great way to get together, but they are not happening in each of our cities/communites/or even states.

We, the People, can't impeach the president. The House impeaches and the Senate convicts. But, depending on each state's laws, we can recall the Representatives and Senators. That's where our power lies.
Maybe I missed this, but I haven't heard any discussion on impeaching Obama. Why haven't we started finding out a way to do that? With as many people who are sick of his stupidity, we should be able to start a petition or something to get him out of the White House before he does any more damage. Then we can work on getting those retards out of our congress. How do we get this done? Lets stop talking and do something!

It is way too premature for any talk of impeaching Obama. He is still a media and popular darling. He is very shrewd. He knows how to get the pawns to do everything and stays clean himself. My husband was watching the news the other night while our 3-yr-old played in the living room. When Geithner came on, he sat up, turned around, looked at the TV and said "that's a bad man, he's scary, he's bad" and then went back to playing. We did not encourage him, nor does he know what is going on. He has proven himself before to be an excellent judge of character, and we seem to agree in this case. He an our 5-yr-old pray for Obama to "make right choices that are good for our country, and stop making wrong choices" every night.
Greed is the largest problem, with politicians! Maybe the best way to get right people who are looking out for country is to not pay any salary to them at all, they get everything free anyway, if paying them maybe should be realistic figure $50,000.00 a year, between lobbyists and corruptness they still will make out like bandits, but at least we are not overpaying them to make blunders!
