President Obama is ready to start fund raising again.

Less than 75 days into his term, President Obama has announced that he will be asking his supporters for money at a DNC Benefit event in Washington DC on March 25th. Ticket prices start at $100 but go all the way to $2500.

Is there a better way for us to fund our political campaigns? What does this say about our political process?

It's so obvious the dems. are now in election mode 24/7. What really bothers me is that they never ever admit responsiblity for anything. It's Bush's, corporations, or the taxpayers fault. Plus, how can people not speak out when politician sign a multi trillion dollars stimulus and not read it. Who's arrogant??

  2. drfrankv says:

Congress should be forbidden from giving complex legistlation deceiving names like "freedom of choice" act or "no child left behind" etc…it makes it too easy to demonize legislators who vote against legislation that is lousy but has a fancy name. For example, someone can write a bill allowing confiscation of all handguns and call it the "schoolchildren's protection act"…who wants to go on record as being against protectng schoolchildren? All congressional bills should be referred to by number only.

  3. at least your comments are bi-partisan. I have to disagree on the conspiracy theory though. That would mean that some evil dictator group is running America. America

  4. I think both parties do this. Please prove me wrong
If we're going to discuss this problem, it needs to be bi-partisan to solve it.

  5. Glen2Gs says:

Obama may need to raise additional money for a number of reasons…

    (1) He may need the cash…For future "Legal Fees"

    (2) He may need the cash….to purchase a "farm" in Paraguay like Bush did…(no extradition from Paraguay..Ya'know)…like Bush…he's going to bring in "Farmers" from Afghanistan to grow Poppies… er..Soybeans.

(3)He may need the cash…Because that Private School for the Girls…is costing a lot more since Rahm Emanuel made him end the D.C. School Voucher Program.

(You know what the Secret Service Code Name is for Rahm Emanuel….It's "Resident Evil II"…….Cheney was "Resident Evil I" Or was it Hillary?)

What a LOUSY GOVERNMENT WE HAVE……Does The White House and The Congress….Need to be Fumigated or does it need an Exorcism? Both?

  6. EmmBee says:

This is like watching a three-year old pushing boundaries. The more he is allowed to do, the more he will try to get away with. His words have NEVER matched his actions. The same goes for the government that is allowing it to happen. They are pushing boundaries of the American people to see what they can get away with next. More money, more spending, more taxes, etc. How much more can we withstand?

    • I agree that fund raising for politicians is broken. My suggestion is that only government or personal money be used. The only way that company money should be allowed, is if the company gives equal amounts to both parties. Otherwise it will influence.
Even personal money can be a problem. If candidate 1 is a millionaire, he/she has an advantage over a perfectly good candidate that is a middle class candidate.

  7. Grundy says:

THE ONLY THING OBAMA KNOWS HOW TO DO IS TO TALK AND RUN FOR ELECTION. Talking about a job and doing the job are two different things and Obama's learning time will crippple this country. We have elected a child to do a man's job and don't have either the time or the people around him to do the job for the PEOPLE.

  8. JacobF says:

This is a fine example of a man that is only worried about his power. With all of the issues at hand to deal with, he chooses fund raising over the peoples business.

  9. really go figure the man who ran a 2.5 year campain is already starting fund raising for the next presidential election maybe he will start campaining now and thats how he will stimulate the economy

  10. willmuny says:

Obama was the right guy for the right time to keep the wool over all of our heads. He was picked by the same group that picked Bush Jr, Clinton, and Bush Sr and so on. "We The People" haven't picked a president for decades!

  11. willmuny says:

The entire truth to the matter is this; our government has been under the rule of the fed and it's owners( the major banking families, ie. Rockefeller, Rothschild, Lehman and etc) since the assassination of JFK. Since then every president has been picked by them. The feds built the economy up by manipulating the system, then pulled the rug out from underneath everyone's feet. How hard is to believe? Thomas Jefferson wrote about the downfall of the country if it were to allow a system in which a centralized bank is formed. Why else would they push the bill through on Christmas recess and pressure Woodrow Wilson to sign it. Thieves work best under the cover of darkness. Woodrow Wilson later stated his disappointment in his part in signing the Federal Reserve Act of 1813 and his part in destroying our beloved country. Why do you think they've dismantled our Constitution and taken the power from us, "We The People", with the Patriot Act. Why is the Federal Reserve, a private organization as stated by the high courts of the USA, printing money for us? By the way isn't that against our constitution? We need to take our country back and away from them. Why does the Fed have more power than our government and can't be touched by the law? That was stated on PBS Lehrer report by Alan Greenspan. All the information can be googled, all of it. There was a revolution because of these atrocities that led to the formation of our country. The North American Union and the New World bank that they've started slipping in their speeches is all part of it. Don't take my word for it, google and research it yourselves, then decide what you'll do next. By the way, whenever a game is played, someone has to lose, whether it's a game of texas holdem or the stock market. So where do you think all the money that was lost in the market ended up?

Good Lord, if a 2-year Presidential campaign wasn’t enough to endure …. Now we have to look forward to a 4-year campaign.

  15. TecumsehJr says:

I am seeing a lot of talk about term limits when in fact the term limit system is already in place, albeit not as a constitutional amendment in the way we limit the President. Every two years Congress is up for re-election, and Senators must win re-election every six. We, the people, already possess the power of term limits if we would only get off our duffs and exercise it. It is a disgrace that only about 40% of registered voters turn out for off year elections. If the American people want term limits then stop wasting time calling on someone else to achieve them. Be sure to vote in EVERY election and encourage everyone you know to do the same. It is time for the silent majority to find their voice again. Not only will this insure that those who fail to represent us are removed; it will not punish the tiny minority of our legislators who actually do have the best interest of our country first and deserve to remain in a position to serve the American people as long as they prove their worth.

  16. feniangirl says:

    Isn't greed what he reviles?

Guess he can already see the writing on the wall and realizes he'll need a head start. If he gets their money now, he won't have to be concerned in four years when they are freezing, because they can't afford their carbon footprints, never mind campaign contributions.

I am glad that this president has solved all of the country's problems so quickly, thus affording him all this free time to spend raising campaign funds, appearing (at taxpayer expense) on Jay Leno's Tonight Show, and berating Rush Limbaugh. Always a superstar, not really a president.

Sad but true folks, this is what we're stuck with for four years – unless we get moving and change the face of Congress in two years! And they'll be working doubly hard, with the help of the government funded ACORN and George Soros, et al, to maintain the status quo!

  17. AverageJIM says:

Man you could not be more right with that thread! If the Government doesn't wise up I think that is more than waiting to happen!

  18. TecumsehJr says:

Gee; fund raising for 2012 election; guest appearance on Jay Leno; Hawaiian vacations. I wonder when this guy actually plans to start doing the job he was elected to do.
While Obama fiddles; Russia will soon have stategic bombers less than 100 miles from our coasts; Iran and N Korea rattle the nuclear sabres; Mexican violence overflows our borders and Pakistan is soon to be the 1st Islamic state with a nuclear arsenal. I guess part of the "change" that he promised was to ignore US foriegn policy.
It might be just me; but it seems Mr Obama thinks he was voted prom king rather than leader of the free world. Seeing what he has done to our country in less than 4 months; I suppose even HE realizes it will take some serious campaigning to even be considered a nominee for his own party, much less a viable candidate for President.

  19. RichardD says:

Crossthreaded said: Maybe now some of the sucessionist movements will grow and we can start over as "Independent States"

I'm not able to post a reply (perhaps the thread is too old), but I agree completely with this and think it is time for a renewed interest in this idea. Thomas Jefferson said that every nation needs a revolution every hundred years in order to keep the government honest. We are way overdue.

  20. I think he wants to raise as much money as he can before his ratings fall even further. This is a very dangerous man surrounded by even more dangerous Congress. His press secretary is calling our ex-VP a member of a cabal(very disrespectful and dangerous accusation). He is cozying up to enemies around the world, making it harder by the day to get ammunition, and has anyone else noticed that the man doesn't make a lick of sense unless he has a teleprompter? Who is writing his messages? Is he the Manchurian Candidate? LOL. We need to be heard loud and clear and put the government in their place….UNDER US!

  21. seasoned says:

If he lived up to Clintons IMPLIED/STATED CLAIMS, I would be HAPPY to vote for him! I think he is a jerk, and would have spent half my disposable income to FIGHT him on the last election, if I thought it could make a dent.
Anyway, WHAT were clintons IMPLIED/STATED claims?

    1. Improve the environment(STATED) He really made things WORSE!
    2. Improve solvency(STATED) He really made things WORSE!
    3. Lower taxes(STATED) He really made things WORSE!
    4. Lower "entitlements"(STATED) He really made things WORSE!
    5. Improve education(STATED) Did he make ANY change?
    6. Healthcare(STATED) Did he make ANY change?
    7. Reduce earmarks(STATED) Did he make ANY change?
    8. Reduce the net expenditures(STATED/IMPLIED) Did he make ANY change? He LATER CLAIMED to have saved $500 billion, but that was ACTUALLY announced during the previous presidents term, and smoke and mirrors.
    9. Improve business(STATED) He actually made things FAR worse! And he went against the unions and his party to do it! INCREDIBLE! Then again, it helped a LOT of party/union constituents, so maybe the democrats/unions really WANTED it.

  22. Drnoel says:

Obviously it is a smart move. After all, he needs to buy another election, what better way than to line up more people that he can take care of in his transparent government. Don't forget Chicago politics. The hand that greases does get payback, and the one that doesn't gets something else.

  23. Gray3 says:

@ jupiter22 – term limits are not the answer.

We need to reinvigorate and return our country to the design that our Founding Fathers debated and fought for. This transformation will need men and women whose priniciples mirror those of the Founding Fathers. As Mr. Beck has stated repeatedly – Say what you mean and mean what you say. Using your principles as a way of life rather than an excuse is what will lead our nation back to what it was intended to be.

@ Sammie – term limits will not stop Obama (we agree on this, I presume) because he will be out of office before any term limits legislation even gets out of committee, let alone into the House or Senate for a vote. President Obama will not openly come out and present legislation that is meaningful or draws large amounts of criticism. His policy is to allow the Democrat-controlled Congress to bring forth thelegislation, which he can then throw his support behind. In the end, if there is a failure of any of these policies, he will certainly not be in front of the American people accepting any blame whatsoever.

  24. Sandra42 says:

I would think Obama is moving now on fundraising while his approval ratings are high. If he ticks off his base he won't get as much money this go around. I do think that as President, he needs to focus on his job not on an election that is 4 years away. He spent most of his time in the Senate campaigning instead of doing his job, that by the way, he is paid to do.

  27. RiverBear says:

Obama has a very well oiled machine in operation that is intent to stay well ahead of any opposing political party. Obama alone is not smart enough by himself to keep the machine fine tuned. We the people need to root out and remove all who assist his sneaky socialist agenda. Vote out the Rieds and Polosis… turn Washington D.C. upside down and shake it hard. We need one true honest person to rise from the dust and save our country, it is not Obama and friends! Take a close look at the breakdown of individuals who put Obama in office…

  28. katb9 says:

I agree it is now up to We the People to take back our country or loose it for ever as we have known it. Also, I feel we need to act before the next elections. We all stood by when the illegals were maching on our tax payer streets. It's time we march until our officials do what we voted them into do.

  29. ShanB says:

This is something that I had a problem with Obama doing during his campaign. Instead of taking the same route that McCain did, and using money that was in the coffers, he went the route of asking/begging for money from the American people. All the while people were losing jobs, the recession had begun, and people were losing their retirement funds in their 401k's. It's extremely irresponsible to be pressuring people to hand money to candidates, or parties, when so many are in a financial pinch. This is just plain wrong…

  30. kentuckyjosh says:

I think that the whole idea of global warming is ridiculous. In the 70's, the next ice age was coming, then it was global warming which has already been slyly changed to "climate change" roughly mid 2008 after it was apparent what a cool year we were having. Its all crap. Basically the left follows a simple mantra and then applies that to many situations over and again. The mantra is as follows."1.Create a crisis in the minds of the public. 2. Create a situation for yourself where you can appear to be a hero. 3. Loudly proclaim the steps you supposedly will take to squash the imaginary crisis you helped create. 4. Use the uninformed publics panic to grow government and amass power."

  31. vjpz says:

Obama embodies everything that is wrong with Washington. In the midst of an aconomic meltdown….when millions of Americans are unemployed. When our borders are being over-run with Illegals and drugs. When Terrorists are knocking at our door…..HE is campaiging….This has to stop, and we have to stop it

  32. ImPsd says:

this stinks – not worth signing up for

  33. jupiter22 says:

Term Limits will drain the swamp. How come most other politicians have term limits except for congress? It's obvious Pelosi and her crew are dictating Obama's policies. The current democratic majority is extremely radical and are pandering to very far left groups that have alot invested in the current administration.

    • Gray3 says:

@Iamsad – You used the words "elected officials in Congress." Your answer to the problems that affect the American people is right there. Elect people that live their lives by Principles and Values that you agree with. We must not forget (nor let our elected officials forget) that we have the power in this country. We must seek out those people who are willing to stand up and fight for what they believe in. There are good people at work for our country now; they simply need support from the people as well as more people willing to serve their country. The idea of Congress was never to create a wealth-building enterprise. The idea was to have non-professional politicians lead their country and then get out of the way and let someone else continue the work.

  34. I would argue Obama never stopped campaigning. What I'd really like to know though is who actually funded/funds Campaign Obama. There was a brief report in late Oct that security was lax on the Obama-Biden donation website and that some fraud may have occurred there. There have been concerns that he may have recieved substantial amounts of overseas money. For this guy to have raised the hundreds of millions he came up with nearly every American household would have had to have donated several hundred dollars. Yet we know that nearly every American household didn't donate. Where does his money come from?

  35. There's still hope my friend. I agree there is "little" to believe in, but remember how we, as a nation, got started. Maybe now some of the sucessionist movements will grow and we can start over as "Independent States"

    • The great thing about democracy is that you never please everyone. If GOP was in, the Dems would cry, if Dems are in the GOP would cry, and other times people cry if either is in.
Quoting someone, and i'm not sure i have it exact, "Democracy is flawed, but it's the best there is"

  36. jupiter22 says:

Obama is the great swindle of our time. He got people to vote for him who knew nothing about the man or what he stands for. People ask more questions before hiring a person to wash windows than they did before hiring Obama. What a joke! I see alot of arguing over issues in these blogs that are meant to divide us. What needs to happen is a real dramatic protest to demand all elected officials be removed from office. People need to remember politician are employed by the people. We are the boss. We should march on the capital and not allow our representatives to enter the building and tell them they are "Fired". Call for new elections, but only after a complete reform of the election process. Put in place "term limits", suspend, lobbying groups, ban contributions from corporations and foreign sources. I don't think people really understand the magnitude of the forces at work 24/7 trying to change the constitution and take away the rights of individuals. These same forces actually have intelligent people believing they don't pay enough taxes. Government waste needs to be investigate before you raise my taxes.

  37. Jim42 says:

"The love of money is the root of all evil." I think we should make campaign contributions from Lobbyists and Unions illegal, for this makes strange bed partners.

Will unfettered money get to the Obama administration, as recipients from government contracts repay their debt to the government, and like wise then, the government repays the giver for their favor……

  38. klingtocash says:

He's got to start fund raising now before this approval ratings fall too low. Strike while the iron's hot for 2012 funds.

  39. RetiredChief says:

Hasn't anyone figured out yet that President {we honor the rank not the person} Obama is just a fancy mouth piece for the Dems. If the party says to raise money he raises money if they say tax he taxes. This is the new area of politics where the party rules not the position!

  40. greymist says:

Has anyone seen the movie "The Candidate"? I think we've all met him. Kinda like a dog chasing a car…what to do if you catch it?

  41. jodegare55 says:

well, well, let me see, I do hate to see all of the fine folks that contributed to his campaign only now to find out that he
Obama is the new puppet on the block and cares nothing for them at all, the money whores, the Rothchilds etc have
again succeeded in buying an american president and yes obama will do what his masters tell him what to do or he
will wind up like J.F.K. Only when we collectively remove the Federal Reserve and return our government to the people we will continue to be salves to this one world order crowd, why else would Henry Kissinger state that mr.
obama may have the best chance of moving us forward to this new world order, History is very telling only Andrew Jackson was successful in removing these money whores( federal Bank ) in the 1800's and you know they tried to
kill him four times, Kennedy was in the process of doing the same, but as we know did not make it. We are running
out time, if hyper-inflation hits us because things continue to spiral out of control, we will all be in trouble then.

    • You are a student of history sir. Andrew Jackson did successfully veto a national bank. And for a common folk kind of guy, he wrote an articulate reason for doing so. We need some folks with that kind of intestinal fortitude in government today. Those who would do what is right for the country, not self. Those who would operate with common sense, integrity, and good judgment.

  42. ruth230 says:

    My Greatest Fear…….
After watching, listening, and reading, I think our political figures are going to completely break our nation, and do it as quickly as possible before the majority of the people can even think about it. You can not borrow yourself out of debt.
We need some changes with one of the first being only self supporting citizens allowed to vote, maybe we should disallow all government employees too, since we pay their salaries. I have really never understood why my tax dollars should allow those I support to have a better life style than I do, a better health and retirement plan, and our speaker of the house has a private plane, thousands of tax dollars a month……. were suppose to share with those less fortunate, why not start at the top and work down?
Just venting, I have written my concerns to my congressmen through the years, and I have always voted for the most moral person on the ballet at election time.

Perhaps Prez O is looking at the fact that it may be wiser to ask for $$$ now, while he still has some what of a fan base that has money to give …

    • seasoned says:

They should pass a law that says that donation commitments must be made PRIOR to year 3, and paid AFTER year 4, with the ability to back out, and that excess be paid to the government! TOO MANY either campaign early, save, or pass laws at the last second! The whole deal is STUPID!

    • lawbama1 says:

This is exactly the case. And also while they still have money to give

  44. Denalaurens says:

Obama represented Acorn in court to enforce the Lenders to give these bad loans. When Bush, Republicans and the Federal Housing oversight Director warned the liberals in the House and senate in 2004 that a crisis in the housing market , particularly Fannie and Freddie, the Libs said there was nothing wrong with those Lenders and they then berated the repubs and the director for making these accusations. 4 years later, the truth about those bad mortgages literally crashed down on everyones head. The Libs were getting kickback $ from Fannie and Freddie to keep quiet about their illegal accounting practices. Chris Dodd got more and Obama was the 2nd largest recipient. Now we see obama wants to 'change' us into socialists. CAN YOU SAY CONSPIRACY? Let's take back our country and fight.
